Breast pump....? - Does anyone use one?

akbutterfly83 wrote: I was just wondering if anyone use's a breast pump and what kind do you use.....

I have been useing a hand one from the hospite... I think they give megelen.... or something like that...... and my step-mom just bought me a dual electric evenflo.... so I was just wondering if anyone uses a pump... and if so, what kind......

ammommy replied: I used the Advent Isis with both pregnancies and loved it! It was a manual, but I was more productive with it than the electric Medela that I borrowed from a friend. She had better luck with the Medela, though. Pumping did take longer with the Advent.

akbutterfly83 replied: I was thinking about using the aven... since that the kind of bottle he uses if we are out......

Medela... that's it..... we got the manual from the hospitel.. and attachements for the electric...... for if we wanted to rent one from then.... but they wanted $45 a month.... just to rent.....

And I think the one my step-mom bought was $49.99 or something like that....... but it's and evenflo......

just was looking for some input..... since this is my first..... that's all..... and I need to pump... no matter what..... cause I pump out with the manual 4 to 6oz, sometimes 8..... then he feeds on top of that..... and this is all in just 2 hours.... sometimes 3.... I try feed him first, then pump...... every 2 hours...... and that's what I get..... 4-6oz sometimes 8...... it's crazy.......

paradisemommy replied: i had the medela pis and loved it..will use it for my next one too!!

aspenblue1 replied: Medela PIS and I loved it!

CCTandME replied: I also used the Medela.

coasterqueen replied: Many women in the breastfeeding support "groups" call the Evenflo "Evilflo". That pump has been known to damage breast tissue permanently if not used just ever so carefully. I usually just advise mothers to run out to the garbage can, toss that puppy, and get one you know you'll be safe with.

I used the Medela PIS for 19 months and I also used the manual Avent Isis during that time as well.

ammommy replied: OMG! I had that Evenflow and pitched it because it hurt so bad and produced nothing. That's when I switched to the Advent. I thought I was the only one with problems with it.

akbutterfly83 replied: I tryed it last night, and it worked fine... I don't know.....

DansMom replied: I used Medela PIS for a while, and it worked well until I encountered problems with letdown; then I switched to a Whittlestone out of desperation after reading some testimonials about it. I loved it---I had to order it on-line though, and they are a few hundred bucks.

atlantamomof2 replied: I used Avent Isis also and loved it. It has special petals on the cup that actually stimulate your glands and cause faster let-down. I did not work when I used it though so I only used once a day usually but I would highly recommend it for occasional use! thumb.gif

Taiyou no Koe replied: I can't say I've had experience using any pump yet... LOL... but last night, I had a dream I received the Medela PIS and it caused me to produce more milk than I ever dreamed of producing! laugh.gif

5littleladies replied: I used the Avent Isis and it worked great for me! thumb.gif I tend to produce a LOT of milk though so it doesn't take me long to fill up a bottle. rolleyes.gif

jem0622 replied: I have an Avent Isis. LOVE it. Can't use the soft petal insert.

I also have a traditional Medela Pump In Style (not the Advanced one) and LOVE it also. I use the PIS at work 3x/day.
