Breast Feeding Vs. Formula - I'm curious.

EvesMom wrote: I can't seem to find any current statistics on this. My DH and I are having a debate on this. He thinks that very few people breast feed their baabies anymore. I think breastfeeding is on the rise. So please, anyone with an infant (or toddler happy.gif ) please answer the poll. Thank you all so much!

My3LilMonkeys replied: I certainly can't say for sure, but I think the percentage of BF moms on this board is quite high - possibly higher than what you'd find in RL depending on what part of the country you live in.

mckayleesmom replied: I did both.

MamaJAM replied: I voted Formula only -- my first DD was breastfed for a few weeks...then, finally, was put on soy formula. My other 4 kids all started on soy formula at birth.

5littleladies replied: Breastfed only. Everyone I know IRL Breastfeeds too. wink.gif

MM'sMama replied: I voted both. With Brice I only BF, but with Caroline I do both but her bottle is brest milk only.

~Roo'sMama~ replied: Andrew is breastfed only - he got a tiny bit of formula in the hospital to help flush out the bilirubin (he was a little jaundiced) but he hasn't had any since. I'm planning on breasfeeding exclusively with this next one, too. happy.gif

Almost everyone I know IRL breastfed too. Both of my sisters breastfed but one had to supplement with formula and the other switched to formula at 6 months.

Edward's Mommy replied: I breastfed for a week. I wanted to continue but Edward went into the hospital with low oxygen when he was a week old and my doctor told me that worry can cause me to dry up and I did. When Edward was born, we gave him both breastmilk and formula. But for the next one, I'm thinking only breastmilk. If we can get him/her to latch on. Edward wouldn't latch and that's part of the reason I had him on formula as well. I was worried he wouldn't get nouishment that early without latching on successfully. But I do plan to breastfeed only with the rest of any children I have. I voted formula.

luvbug00 replied: can't vote again but we couldn't breast feed so we formula feed only, the next one I hope to BF but it all depends..

paradisemommy replied: exclusively bf both my kids..

3xsthefun replied: Both of my kids were formula fed.

AlexsPajamaMama replied: I voted formula fed only

MyBlueEyedBabies replied: I voted formula, both were bf for the begining (katy 2 weeks, matt 6 weeks) and I will start bf'ing this time too.
But IRL I only know 1 person who bf exclusively and another who started by bf'ing most everyone I know is formula from day 1

EvesMom replied: I guess I wasn't clear enough about this. I wanted to have currently breast or bottle fed. Oh well.

CosmetologyMommy replied: I wanted to bf, but I went back to school when Aidan was only 3 weeks and my school does not have a fridge and they were not going to let me just go to the bathroom and pump! mad.gif

ilovemybaby replied: I didn't vote because Abby is 22 months old and drinks ordinary cows milk now.

But when she was born I breastfed and formula fed. But I was only able to do that for three weeks and then she went onto just formula.

CAMSMOM1 replied:

Sorry, I voted...even though Cam is 2 now and we don't fall in any of those catagories. blush.gif

But I BF exclusivly until he was 6 months, then I had to switch to formula because my milk dried up. I wish I could've bf longer, I really enjoyed it, and IMO was the best thing for Cameron. thumb.gif

EvesMom replied:
That's ok! A couple people already did the same. biggrin.gif
At lease the results are within the past 10 years, maybe, perhaps, idontknow.gif

coasterqueen replied: I luckily escaped formula with both my girls!!!!! An exciting milestone for our family. Dh was congratulating me the other day that we made it. smile.gif

holley79 replied: I currently mainly BF but if we run low then she does get formula.

Jamison'smama replied: Jamison never had formula--had a few bottles of EBM though. Jack is 15 months and has never had formula or even a bottle---straight to sippy at 6 months and then only water and food when I was working. Never had EMB--just straight from the source smile.gif
