BooBahs?
Kirstenmumof3 wrote: Claudia really likes this show, the same way that Spencer loved the Teletubies when they first came out. I on the other hand find this show to be very creepy. A friend of mine was visiting with me last month. She is from the USA and was visiting her family. Anyway she told me that her son loves the BooBahs and I told her that we don't like Claudia watching the show. So today she sent me this article on the BooBahs. I thought some of you might want to read this. Also am I the only one who thinks this show is creepy?

5littleladies replied: I hate Boohbahs! They give me the willies. Definitely too creepy for kids to watch.
kimberley replied: LOL Jade loves these things . i posted about this before and i think Cary summed the up the best LOL
here is the thread
Kirstenmumof3 replied: Okay I really needed a good laugh! Thanks for the link to the Thread!
mummy2girls replied: i know it is so wierd and jenna likes it. but i dont let her watch it. i usually switch it. It is just non-educational and stupid!
0-10andbackagain replied: Those things creep me out! Thankfully my girls hate thm!
A&A'smommy replied: I HATE boobahs they freak me out. i havent watched the show and i probably never will
Hillbilly Housewife replied: Ha! Nice thread!! ROFL!!!!
Seriously....both my kids like it. I like it simply for the fact that they're quiet for 30 minutes....
The first time I saw it, it was in the morning, the kids were gone to daycaare, I was flipping through trying to look for the weather, went BACK to the channel... and watched. I was mesmerized... I was actually late for work, because I stayed exactly where I was, didn't move, until it was over.....
So wierd. But the kids love em. I got one yellow dancing one that I got for Zach, you press on either its hand or foot and it moves and sings.... and 2 giant (well Emilie's size) stuffed bobahs, blue and orange.... they love em!
ediep replied: they creep me out!!! Jason happened to see it for a few minutes one day....I switched the channel so fast...I don't want him to get into that wierd show
texasp3 replied: LOL!! BooBah is on at 6:30am here... Gabriel will sit in front of that show like a zombie! I just find it totally wierd - it even SOUNDS wierd. Now I've read that review you posted and I guess he falls into the "too young" category since it states that simply being mezmerized by the colors is not the point of the show. At 6:30 am, anything that "simply mezmerizes" my child is golden in my world! I am not a morning person!
DH's comment when he saw part of it last week... "Um... the blobs appear to be going to sleep in their... um... spoons."
ian'smommy replied: Hi.. I am new to the bulletin board... I am the friend from the USA who's son absolutely loves to watch Boohbah... When I first saw them, I thought this was a ridiculous show... In fact I didn't let him watch it at first... One day I left it and watched it with him... For an adult it is the most ridiculous show on the planet, besides Teletubbies... Which makes sense since the makers of the shows are the same... As I watched it, I also watched my son's reaction... He was mesmerized... He had just turned 2 at the time... My husband said they were creepy looking and they would probably scare him if he was a kid... Now that my son, Ian is 2 1/2, he is actually starting to get involved in the show. When they dance/exercise, he joins in... That is exactly what the show is trying to do... They want the children to participate... They are trying to get away from passive TV watching... There are a lot of shows that are trying to get away from passive TV watching... Blues Clues, Dora the Explorer, BoohBah, just to name a few... They want to get your children involved... Yes, they are funny looking... I thought so all along and still do... I was surprised to find out that they are atoms, and that sparkly ball that bounces around is where they live... A ball of energy... I found it quite interesting when I researched the show... In the beginning of the shows they travel in their ball of energy to different cultures... At a point in the show there are real children that demonstrate a movement that they can do... They repeat it over and over to encourage children at home to join in... I think all in all, creepy looking creatures (atoms) aside, it is a good show for toddlers... It's the first show that my son ever started reacting with... Now he joins in when he watches Dora or Blue.... Something he never did until he watched Boobah... OK, that's all I have to say on that for now. I am saying too much....
My2Beauties replied: When I first saw those things I said the same thing about them that Cary did in that other thread! Hanna of course thought they were cool, but I told Brian they looked to much like a man's "member" than a toy so I quietly put it aside and found something else for Hanna to look at! I never really did any research on them, Hanna watches most of her TV during the day at the sitter, and I know she loves Clifford the Big Red Dog as well as a few others. I wouldn't discourage her from watching them because it seems educational enough for babies her age, but they weird me out!
DVFlyer replied: Chloe loves them. But they do look like, well... what she said.
On a serious note. Has anyone noticed how in shape the people in those costumes (they are costumes, right? ) must be? If you ever watch their little dance sequence, the first couple of boobahs have to work for a looooong time. They must be huffin and puffin after that.
MySweetBabies replied: Boobahs look really perverted. When I saw one at the store I was like what the heck is that? I had never even heard of them or seen the show. I would never let my kids watch that! I don't even like Barney or Teletubbies.
ian'smommy replied: Can I ask why you don't like Barney, and why you wouldn't let them watch Boohbah? What is it exactly that tells you it's not suitable? Just an honest question. Guess it's more like 3 questions :-) ... Like I said in my last post, I thougth it was ridiculous and I also thought they looked weird the sound effects were pretty annoying... But after I researched it, I found that my initial reaction was just my reaction. They aren't airing the show for us, they are airing it for kids... What we think is nuts, kids do not... If it teaches kids, so what if it annoys us... My son loves Barney as well. The show annoys me, but he participates so I put my feelings aside... Nothing in the show will hurt my child... That's the way I look at it... But anyway, back to my original questions...
