Birth Control
Mommy2BAK wrote: Okay so I guess I need to start deciding what form of birth control I want to be on after I have this baby. Can everyone tell me what worked for them and what didn't. I realize every one is different but I was just hoping that there would be a majority of women pointing to one certain form that worked well for all of them. I HATE BIRTH CONTROL, which is why I never stick to any. I've been on Depo shot (for about 2 years) BUT I hate needles and shots and all that jazz, I took ortho tri-cyclin (sp?) but I felt like I was extremely moody on that, then I had the nueva ring for only about 2 months, but I don't think DH liked it, it kind of "got in the way of things"
grapfruit replied: I'm on the ring right now (but see Nadia's thread, that may change). I don't mind it. Tim thinks it "gets in the way" as well. But after I read online that you can take it out for up to 3 hours, it's ok. I just take it out and all is well. (You just have to remember to put it back in!)
Somebody said Yasmin is pretty good. It's a pill, but low dose. If I have to go to using a pill that's what I'm trying for. Good luck. B/c s#cks.
luvbug00 replied: I'm gonna try and get on the low dose pill too. I can't take the high doese. ewww. i say if your willing to tollerate a prick every 3 months do the shot. pills/baby/daughter may be hard to remember to pop the pill. I sure would forget! lol!
lovemy2 replied: I am on the pill - low dose - always have used the pill and never been much different mood wise, etc. on or off the pill so I guess I am no help....is this going to be your last baby???
I am done so we need to make a permanent decision - him or I but I like the pill cause most of the time I don't even get a period happened before and obviously isn't anything wrong cause I have two kids
grapfruit replied: You're mean, I wish I didn't have a period.
LoL, you're not really mean btw.
Hillbilly Housewife replied: I'm still trying ot figure that one out myself. I'm still not on birth control!
maestra replied: I have the Mirena iud, and dh only noticed it once, and you can move the cord a little bit (it tends to curl up to the side of your cervix) or have your ob cut it shorter.
This is my second one, and I like it, though I know others may not. I don't get af anymore with it. It works up to 5 years. i do notice a decrease in drive, though.
moped replied: When this baby comes, DH is getting the V - which isn't an option for you, maybe the low dose pill?
boyohboyohboy replied: i have always taken the pill, with no issues, however after this baby my dh is getting a "V" also, so thats our plan.
Maddie&EthansMom replied: Pull and Pray
I can't take bcp...I'm on nothing!
tammyhopkins replied: there is a Birth Control Patch now. i have not used it but i have a friend that uses it and loves it. Put one on a week and your good to go.
MyBrownEyedBoy replied: I was on the pill for 10 years, and put on weight steadily through that time. Tried the patch, but it made me a horrible witch. I have the Copper10 IUD now. It is not hormonal, so no extra mood swings and no weight gain. I have a period still every month, though. However, it's good for 10 years. And I love never having to think about it.
MotherForever2043 replied: I have an appointment to get my tubes tied in 3 weeks. I am POSITIVE that I don't want to have any more children. This was the only way I could think of that would work for sure. I don't want to take any chances with pills. Here's a website if you want to learn about tube-tying.

Jackie012007 replied: I got pregnant while taking Yasmine - I tried the patch but it severely irritated my skin. I then went to Orth Tri-Cyclen low, but I spotted the whole time for 2 months straight so I'm up on a higher dose now - and I've gained weight and my boobs are OUTTA CONTROL!! I wanted an IUD but I have a history of unexplained PID
mysweetpeasWil&Wes replied: I've been taking Nora Be (mini-pill) since Wesley was born and nursing on it. I haven't noticed any side effects. I've been Mircette and Ortho and hated them both. Total mood swings, funky cycles, heavy bleeding and weight gain. Nothing has happened so far on Nora Be....BUT, its not for people who are super fertile and forget to take pills...if you miss one, you can get pregnant.
MyBlueEyedBabies replied: I used the copper IUD between Matt and JOhnny. It worked great and I was able to get pregnant immediately after taking it out (like the week after).
DillsMommy replied: I was on Yasmin for several years and loved it. No complications and no weight gain.
