Bad day yesterday with Tanner - Huge doctors bill and pics included
TANNER'S MOM wrote: Well I knew Tanner had a bite of some kind.. I didn't know what it was.. Still don't! But it just kept spreading. He got sick at his stomach and had low grade fever. They couldn't get him in the doctors office until 4! So I had marked his leg to see if it was spreading. It was spreading like crazy..and the doctor was worried!
He said If it spreads another inch he will be in the hospital. He said this is very serious..one of the most serious I have seen! He gave him a shot of rocephine (sp) it is so painful! One of the worst shots..and a script that cost 189.00 after insurance.. I was just in shock! The doctor bill was huge and so was the script. But it was better than a hospital visit.
He is better today..it didn't spread over night and I am so glad!
Here are some pics!
MommyToAshley replied:
OMG MEL!!! How scary! The doc didn't have any idea what kind of bite it was either? I'm so glad the meds helped. How's he feeling now?

redchief replied: Wow... that's horrible. Poor guy! Is he better?
TANNER'S MOM replied: They said it could've been a spider of some kind or a buffalo gnat. He said the gnats cause reactions like that also!
I was really scared!
Sarah&Mackenzie replied: Oh My!! Well I am glad that it didn't spread anymore! Hope he is feeling better today
KingMom replied: Wow, I'd have been scared too! Glad it didn't spread anymore overnight and they caught it in time. Sorry the bill was so much even after insurance, it seems like everytime I go tot he doc or pharmacy, less things are covered but my rates keep going up!
mckayleesmom replied: GLad hes ok Mel.
3xsthefun replied: That is awful! Glad that it didn't spread anymore. Hope he feels better!
b&bsmom replied: Glad he is ok. It is so scary!!! I know the insurance thing BTDT. I agree insurance seems to cover less and less.
MommyToAshley replied: Please excuse my ignorance, but what is a buffalo gnat? Is that something that only lives in the country? I suppose it is only fair. If you get that beautiful view, you get buffalo gnats to go along with it.
ETA: I just now saw the second picture. Wow... looks like it has spread a lot. Is that pic before or after you took him to the doc? I hope he feels better soon, poor guy!
My2Beauties replied: OMG Mel I would have been scared to death. Glad he is doing ok, keep us posted!
Bee_Kay replied: How is Tanner feeling today? Is he pretty sore?

amynicole21 replied: Eeek! THat looks scary! I'm glad you took him in to the doctor.
MyBrownEyedBoy replied: Yikes, glad it's not spread anymore. But that looks like it would hurt to walk. Poor Tanner.
TANNER'S MOM replied: Well I didnt really know what he was meaning when he said it..but when I read up on it..it seems to be a horse fly! Which we do have! It has gotten so hot here so fast..that pest are recking havoc! We didn't have a bad enough winter to kill alot of the larvea that makes this stuff..and ticks and flea's are bad too!
He is better..alot better I am so glad too!
The 2nd pic was about 3 hours after his antibotic shot. The doctor had told me to mark it and take pics so we could see the progress. I think what freaked me out was how serious and scared the doctor was!
C&K*s Mommie replied: Good to hear he is so much better, now. Poor baby.
I hope you had a moment of calmed nerves once you found out he did not have to go into the hospital, and that he is doing a little better now.
Maddie&EthansMom replied: Yikes Mel! I'm so glad you took him in. That is awful! He needs some bug killer to wear around his neck. He is their favorite target.
