Back to doc with jenna today.... - jenna is SICK!!!!
mummy2girls wrote: UGH!!!! I went to a childrens medi clinic they have open on sats. Jenna woke up very cranky and crying all morning. And she has this bumpy rash around her mouth. She wouldnt even take a bottle. The ped said she has a sinis infection and gave me antibiotics for that. Then they diagnosed the rash as impitego(sp?). they gave me cream for that.(its contagious..UGH) They said within 5 days it should clear up if not to bring her back. She is still refusing her bottle. So all day she has had 2 oz of milk. Ive been feeding her solids and she is taking that but only the fruit. The homemade vegs are to thick for her to swallow..sore throat. So at least she is taking some foods. My poor baby girl. She was so pooped from the crying and being at the docs she slept 3 hours this afternoon.
why is she always sick?
Kirstenmumof3 replied: Awww poor little baby. I hope she feels better soon.
Schnoogly replied: Sounds like daycare is the culprit. It is for us (plus his reduced immunity from surgeries). Also, she is not breastfed right? So that might lessen her resistance a little.
Hope she feels better soon and I bet you can't wait to take her to work with you! I bet she'll be a lot healther then.
Maddie&EthansMom replied: I'm so sorry to hear that! It must be rough having to deal with this on your own. I hope she feels better soon. I'm sure it is the daycare that is causing so much sickness.
(((HUGS)))
alice&arik replied: I am not defending daycare illnesses here, but I have had Arik in daycare now for almost a year, and he has not been that sick, he had 2 ear infections, and maybe 3 or 4 colds. That is in the last year. I just hate how everyone blames daycare for everything. Maybe it is a bug going around? Coulda caught it at a store or anywhere.
Sorry I did not mean to be rude, if I didn't HAVE to use daycare, i wouldn't. But daycare isn't to blame for everything, some clean very good, mine sanitizes everyday.
MomofTay&Sam replied: Oh no poor Jenna. Please send her kisses from me. Have you tried that pedialyte stuff? Maybe cold she could drink it and help her throat to? I went thru that always sick period too and it just wears you (Mommy) down so hard and so fast. Sleep when she sleeps, I insist! I still sleep when Sammy sleeps, I would never get any rest if I didnt. I hope she gets some relief fast with the anitbotics.
MommyToAshley replied: I know that you have been taking her to a couple of different docs... the ER and clinic. Does your main Doc get all of these reports? I am no Doctor, and I am not even a BTDT Mommy, but it just sounds like an allergy to me. The rashes, the coughing/weezing, the rashes on her bum, her poopy problems on and off, her sore throat and fussiness -- maybe your doctor needs to look at all the symptoms as a whole instead of diagnosing each symptom? Or, maybe you could take her to a new Ped for a second opinion but be sure to let them know about everything that has been going on!
Whatever is causing her all these problems, I sure do hope you are able to get to the bottom of it and she is feeling better soon.
BIG HUGS FROM ASHLEY AND MYSELF!
~~~~~~~~~~GET WELL SOON JENNA!!!!~~~~~~~
MommyToAshley replied: I was just reading "What to expect the Toddler Years", and there was a section devoted to cow's milk allergy. All the symptoms Jenna has been having were listed, including the asthma like symptoms. I know it could be a lot of things, but did these problems start when you switched her to cow's milk? Can they test for cow's milk allergy?
I might be totally off here, but when I read that page, I immediately thought of Jenna!
Heather replied: AWW sweetie! I hope Jenna is feeling better soon! I agree, please don't feel bad for having her in daycare and don't feel bad about not breastfeeding her either. I am sure you don't but I just want you to know that. There are some breastfed babies who get sick too...Ali was one of them. She got a cold while I breastfed her too AND she wasn't in daycare. Also, I was just thinking that being in daycare they might build up a resistant to some things eventually being exposed to it. So that is a good thing.
Sorry to be so forward but I think Jenna has something that is causing her to be so sick and I really hope your doc can help her soon... Poor little thing!! Big hugs!!!
feel better Jenna!!
Heather replied: Just wanted to add that I agree with Dee Dee. Maybe you could take her to another ped. Maybe he will be sane enough to test her for allergies. Her being sick like this all the time just makes her succeptible to other sicknesses because her immune system is shot right now from her current illness. OKAY did tha make sense??
mummy2girls replied: I am going to take her to her original ped tomorrow and let him know of everything that has been going on. i will post and let u know . i feel horrible that i am taking her to sooooo may differentd peds and to the er. I should stick to one doc.
MommyToAshley replied: Don't blame yourself, that's not what I meant. Your Ped is probabley not always available and sometimes we have to use the ER. I was just wondering if your Ped got all the reports is all. I hope you didn't take what I said wrong. I know you have been doing everything to try to find out what is wrong. I sure do hope you are able to find out what is causing all her problems. Please keep us posted!
<<HUGS>>
mummy2girls replied: i know that m2a i just feel bad..
mummy2girls replied: she is still not drinking. so im taking her in tomoorrow as soon i can and see what is happening.ill post tomorrow or early tuesday the latest..
chloe&tysmommy replied: aww, poor Jenna...hope she feels better soon and the doctors can figure out whats causing her to be so sick
I agree with M2A maybe it is allergies, has she been switched to homo milk? or have you given her something new lately?
Keep us posted and big hugs for you and Jenna
MomofTay&Sam replied: I just wanted to say a few things..(if thats ok) My doc and the specialists said No allergy testing for Sammy until atleast 18 months and no testing during spring or fall on a infant/toddler. These test's are very tricky and they do not want "new" foods or "seasons" to influence the tests. By 18 months they figured the baby has had 98% of all foods available to them and in the right season the testing can begin.
As far as daycare..(I worked in a daycare atmosphere for many years) If you think it's clean and sterile you are very wrong. Sterile means washing those toys and everything in that enviroment on a daily basis. A child entering day care with a low imune system can never recover, building up the system is something us non BF mommies have a very hard time doing. I have been in the sytem for many years and still am at a higher level(on leave). Even at gradeschool these children are sent home with a fever..101 plus..They are asked not to return for 24 hours. By gosh if little Jane went home at 10 am little Jane is back at 10 am the next day. Some children just can not tolerate the germs that are invading their little bodies.
My oldest son had chicken pox, fifths disease and rosela.. sp all by the age of 15 months, thanks to daycare. Which I worked at and witnessed the other children having. Then I went to a private school for years and the same went on. You might think these places are *clean* but call CPS for a surprise inspection and you might just get the surprise.
This is JMOP and I do not choose to make anyone upset, I have been there and seen it and know how Jenna could be very ill from a daycare.  Sorry if I spoke to long or made anyone to mad.
CantWait replied: Poor Jenna, hope she is feeling better soon
Heather replied: Don't feel bad! We are all entitled to our opinion! I would hope that everyone here can respect that...that is what I like about this board!!
booey2 replied: I am going to jump in and offer hugs and support. I couldn't believe how sick Matthew started getting when I went back to work. He was 6months old (now 5yrs) at the time and was only going nextdoor to my neighbours house but she had an older child she watched who was in kindergarten at the time so he was exposed to a ton of different things. Anyway it seemed like he was sick all the time so he started to co-sleep with us so I wouldn't lose my sanity. We could BF as my hypothyroidism played a part in my milk not coming in so he didn't have the benifits of breast milk. He is fine now and Thomas being the second child doesn't seem to have been as sick as Matthew, only because he was exposed at home first before going to the sitter home. I digress a lot here sorry, just wanted to share my experience with child care out of the home and illness in children. Hang in their she will get through this, it just seems like it will never end while you are in the middle of it. (from a BTDT mom)
amynicole21 replied: I am so sorry Jenna isn't feeling well!! Are the antibiotics kicking in yet?? to you and to Jenna...
And for the record, while it is a nightmare now, she is building up immunities with all of these illnesses which will really help her later in life. If there is any silver lining, that's it. All the same, it sucks that she is suffering now.
Kaitlin'smom replied: awww I hope Jenna feels better soon. It sure is no fun when our babie is sick.
Bigs hugs to both of you!
mummy2girls replied: im not mad for all your oppinions. I appreciate all of them. I dont know what to blame for her illnesses but i do know being sick with colds and coughs run with her daddy. he was like that so maby she has his sucky immune system. I can be around sick poeple and kids they can breathe on me and even pewk on me and i dont catch it .i have my dads strong immune system. BUT i do think a big part is allergies. She is going to be tested when she is old enough her ped said a while back. Im just frustrated and at the end of my rope with everything she is on. She is my little medication girl.
