Back to School shopping - How much did it cost you this year?
mckayleesmom wrote: Im just curious....I like to plan ahead. Mckaylee will be going to preschool when she turns 4.
luvbug00 replied: well clothes so far is up to $200 and school supplies last year were about 100 or so. We haven't gotten our supplies list yet.
DillsMommy replied: I haven't started school shopping yet. I'm hoping that just for preschool it won't be too much.
MyBlueEyedBabies replied: Katy's preschool just has a wish list so I was going to go get crayons. Right now they are 10 packs for a dollar at Office Max so I was thinking I would go buy $5 worth. Then we are done with her school shopping. I think I spent about $100 on clothes but they are not just for school so it's not like i wouldn't have bought them anyway.
C&K*s Mommie replied: Since C will be attending a private school, where the girls wear skirts and dresses, I know we are looking at spending extra to increase her decreasing wardrobe of Sunday-go-to-meeting type clothes. Everything she has is trickling down to Kel faster than I can blink.
McKaylee who will qualify for the free VPK here in Florida, where she could attend any school that offers VPK, should be fine with normal clothes, & may not have alot of additional costs for supplies.
BAC'sMom replied: As of today $255.00! I have bought ALL the school supplies. We hit the sales racks this Saturday to took advantage of the tax-free weekend here in Texas. But we still lack getting shorts, shoes and a backpack for DD. So I will probably end up shelling out about close to $450.00 at least.
Momof3inMe replied: We started yesterday and we spent $100.00. I think we did great Carter got 4 shirts and Tyler got 3 shirts and the girls both got 2 outfits. We will go back out in 2 weeks to get the rest.
3_call_me_mama replied: The joys of homeschooling !! We arent' buying any "school clothes" this year, and suplies are not much more than they use daily anyway. Cameron got a bunch of stuff this spring when i went to teh outlets (they are last year's clothes form fall/winter but OH WELL) and i spent about $45 on him and got a hugh fall wardrobe. He'll get a couple new dress type shirts that he likes to wear to church but they arent' for school really. Basically we buy for teh season and since he's still got some spring stuff that fits him it'll work for fall as well as the new we got. kathleen on teh otehr hand got a bunch of new clothes, mainly cause she outgrew all her stuff! (DARN KID!) So we got a bunch of 3t stuff and it fits good so She's basically skipping 2t! and hopefully these will fit her next year when she turns 3 as well! LOL (Wouldnt' that be lovely!!)
3xsthefun replied: I haven't started yet. I plan on starting to shop for Kait's clothes next week.
I'm not to sure what supplies she will need, as we have not gotten a list yet.
TANNER'S MOM replied: Well let me say..that for my 4 kids I spend about 500-800 a year for school clothes. By the time everyone gets new shoes and and clothes..and school supplies.. it gets outrageous. I stress out every time!
luvmykids replied: I haven't started yet, I'm sure I can get away pretty cheap with no uniforms, etc. And kids who don't know the difference between Target and Gap! Although Kylie is catching on, she has figured out that they buy clothes at Target and mommy buys clothes somewhere else .... she wants to know where "somewhere else" is
CantWait replied: I still haven't done it In fact I still haven't called the school board to see which school Robbie will be going to and register him Thanks for reminding me.
martzfam27 replied: We havent even started Well I still have a week and a half but I better get started soon. Last year we spent about $200 on clothes and about $50 on supplies. Lucas really hates shopping especially clothes shopping. Its even harder tring to get him to try stuff on!
Hillbilly Housewife replied: Not as much as I thought I would be actually... we spent 70$ on track pants - which was really free, because we used gift certificates from accumulated Sears points... and we spent 9.99$ plus tax on a good insulated lunch box for Zach, and then 9.99 plus tax, times two - for a backpack for Zach. While we were there, we got Emilie's for next year, the same type as Zach but a different color. We also bought a pencil case for Zach, because the ones we use at home are 1) in use and 2) the extra one we had for him has a zipper - and while he is quite capable of opening and closing it on his own, his school is requesting snap lids rather than zippers. We also bought these small thermos-type bowls for Zach to bring a hot lunch in, since we're not "allowed" to send microwave stuff. I understand, that the teachers don't want to have to heat all the food then be held responsible if the food is too hot etc etc... but it sure makes it inconvenient!!! So we bought 4 of them (they were 3$ each) so that DH can use one for lunch, and the kids can get used to eating out of them so that they can open and close them properly when the time comes.
So I spent about 45$ total. The supplies are supplied the first time around, then we are responsible for replacing as needed... but we have lots of the type of crap at home (3 boxes of crayons, pencils, pens, paper, glue etc etc... ) so I probably will be able to keep purchases to a minimum.
JP&KJMOM replied: Well we have been buying school clothes here and there. All for JP - I spent about $30 on supplies the other day and have a couple of things left to get. Clothes I have probably spent about $75 but my mom also bought him some shirts, shorts and his tennis shoes. Still trying to find him a few more pairs of shorts but other than that we are done. I dread the day the princess starts school cause my bill will probably triple.
5littleladies replied: I agree. I will probably spend about $150 total for supplies (including most of our curriculum) and fall clothes for the girls. I found an incredible thrift store close to us that has awesome deals-For example, I found a pair of like new Gap jeans there for Maddie for $2. And of course we have lots of hand me downs. That's one advantage of having all girls!
