Back from Doctor....Blah!!
Maddie&EthansMom wrote: My appt was really fast. My doc was sick so he was trying not to get too close to me (I guess). Here is the lowdown: BP fine, gained 2 pounds in 2 weeks...heartbeat strong and measuring right on track. He said he would induce that Monday considering all goes well (March 8). I told him about my ankles swelling and he said I had a little protein in my urine, but nothing to be concerned about *at this point*. He gave me some signs to watch for and to call immediately if any of them show up. Such as headache with sparkly spots in my eyes, dizziness, more swelling, BP spikes and if Ethan stops moving. He said nothing really caused it it just happens sometimes in pg women. He said I could cut back on sodium, but that really won't help much. I take it as it is something that was going to happen. He said protein in your urine is another form of BP in a pg woman. Did I hear that right? My BP has been great, but he said that is why they do urine samples as well. Weird.
I guess all I can do is take it easy these last 4 weeks and pray he doesn't put me on bedrest or the baby isn't in any distress. I just really don't know or understand what all this means. Should I be concerned at all? He really didn't say much about it or act like I should take cautious measures. I guess at this point who would know?
DansMom replied: Toward the end of my pg. I had a trace amount of protein at one visit, and not at the next. They weren't concerned either in my case, so maybe there's really nothing to worry about. I can't believe you are this close already!! It seems like time is flying by. I'm excited for you Relax as much as you can from here on out.
MomToMany replied: I wouldn't worry too much, unless the other symptoms come up. If he wasn't too worried about it, then you shouldn't either (yeah RIGHT!). I had pre-eclampsia with Logan, and I was on bedrest for the last three months. He's just being a doctor. But do watch carefully for the other symptoms, because this can get really serious. Don't feel embarrassed or be shy about calling him between appointments if the other symptoms come up.
Try to relax and take your mind off of it a little. I bet you're getting really excited about being SO close!! LOL, I don't want to be induced, but it would still be nice to know what day this baby was coming! I can't wait to see pics of Ethan's nursery !!
amynicole21 replied: I wouldn't worry at all. That's just common info to give out towards the end of pregnancy. A trace amount of protein is nothing to worry about either, but that is why they do urine samples at every visit. You are doing great, and in the home stretch - YAY Will you be having weekly visits from now on?
mummy2girls replied: I wernt through that also..with Jenna...I had swollen EVERYTHING.LOL, protein in my urine and also high blood pressure. and it all happened in my last month. it developed into PIH(pregnancy induced hypertention)...so i was induced early. I wouldnt worry though..because it only shows little protein in the urine. Keep a watch though for the signs he said though. You probably will be just fine! I had this happen with Jordan also. but it wasnt as severe as it was with Jenna. so with jordan he wasnt too concerned.
I hope u feel better soon....

I go back in 2 weeks and then every week after that. I only have 3 more appts!!! WOW! Can you believe it?? It has really flown by.
MomToMany replied: Wow! That's great!! I'm getting SO excited for you!! I can't wait to see pics of Ethan !! I'm not sure how many appointments I have left, though. Probably like 5 or 6, who knows ??
Maddie&EthansMom replied:
I have to admit that it is a little nerve wracking to be induced, but it is so nice to be *early* and to know a date so I can schedule everything in advance. It seems to work so nicely. Granted he doesn't come any earlier. If he did, it would be TOO early.
Maddie&EthansMom replied: Thanks you guys for making me feel better. I just had no idea what to expect or whether or not to be concerned. My doc just didn't act like it was a big deal and I didn't want to freak out. Plus, I know DH will ask so many questions...he will be so concerned. I won't worry about it until there is something to worry about and I will watch for any tell tale signs.
jen replied: I am sure he was just giving you cautionary (is that a word lol!) advice.
I am going every 2 weeks already, BLAH! I hate getting on the scale! LOL! That is the worst part! Even though I haven't gained a tremendous amount, I feel HUMONGOUS!!! I guess carrying around the extra weight is taking a toll on my usually small frame, LOL!
That is great about his nursery coming along so fast! I can't wait to have Maddy's nursery to a point where I am ready for her!!! If she came any time soon I would be pushing her back in telling her I still have to find more sales etc!! Just kidding!!! ha ha!
Hang in there!!! You don't have too long of a wait!
kimberley replied: wow you are almost there! glad the appt went well and don't worry about the protein... it means nothing on its own. i can't wait to see pics of the nursery. it sounds perfect
Kirstenmumof3 replied: I wouldn't worry! Sounds like your appointment went fine! Try to relax and enjoy these last 4 weeks!
A&A'smommy replied: i wouldnt worry too much about i was that way for the last two months!! just try to take it easy!!! ((((hugs))))
coasterqueen replied: I agree with the others I wouldn't worry too much. Sounds like overall the appointment went well, baby is healthy you are healthy. Take it easy, or at least try to, lol.
MommyToAshley replied: I don't have any advice to offer, just some reassurance that I agree with the others, it isn't anything to worry about. I swelled up like that right before Ashey was born... maybe Ethan will be right on time or a little early and you won't have to be induced.
I can't believe you are this close! I can't wait to see the nursery and to meet Ethan!
Take care, and get PLENTY of rest!
CantWait replied: Sounds like your appt went pretty good. I don't think there's anything to be concerned about at all. Hope the next appt goes better
