Baby's room - Use?
CantWait wrote: Anthony normally uses his bedroom for only sleeping at night, the rest of the time he sleeps with me. We don't normally play in there either, and that's about it. I change his diapers downstairs cause I'm tired of running up and down stairs all the time
MommyToAshley replied: I answered "All of the above". However, I only let Ashley play in there when I am in there with her. Her AngelCare monitor is still hooked up and I am afraid of her getting choked on the wires so she only plays in there when I am with her. But, that will be changing soon when we go to the big girl bed.
mummy2girls replied: I voted all the above. She sleeps in there, and i most of the time change her in there if not then the living room. jenna crawls into there to play alot. it is really baby proofed and safe so i dont really worry. I make sure i vacuum each day also.
maestra replied: We have a two story townhouse, and we do the same, but she does occasionally play in there.
A&A'smommy replied: I use alyssa's to store my old bed, her dresser, and her clothes. I wish I could decoate it how I want to then I might actually use it more.
MomToJade&Jordan replied: I chose all of the above. I don't use it that much for changing because the house is two story, but we do all sorts of stuff in there. Sometimes I gate up the upstairs so I can take a shower and she plays in there.
paradisemommy replied: we only play in there...lol..he sleeps with us in our room and i change him in our room too..but it's all furnished with a brand new bunk bed/futon on the bottom for when he's ready!
MomToMany replied: I voted for all of the above, but mainly Hannah's and Ethan's room is used for storage. They do sleep and play in there, but it's usually filled with boxes of them wire things I work on at home. The baby won't have a room for awhile. S/he will be in our room. Then Ethan will move in with the boys, and Hannah and the baby will share a room.
WE NEED A BIGGER HOUSE!!!! Hopefully next year we can start looking for one!
juliajaj replied: I voted all of the above. Olivia has slept in her room since we brought her home from the hospital. All the diaper supplies are in her room, so we do all the diaper changing there. The main bathroom is down the hall from her room, so it's easy to get from bathroom to bedroom after she's had her bath. I don't let her play in the room by herself since her dresser isn't 100% babyproofed, but she does play in there when I'm in the room with her (picking up, cleaning, putting away clothes, toys, etc.). The majority of her toys are in our family room, but there's a basket of toys & books in her room that she enjoys. We're getting ready to transition her to a big girl bed & we're also moving her into a new bedroom (it's going to be decorated in Hello Kitty), so we want to get that done at the end of this month or beginning of next month - plenty of time for her to get used to her new surroundings before the baby comes.
aspenblue1 replied: I voted all Isabella sleeps in there. She plays in there when I am in there.
booey2 replied: All of the above with Thomas now, with Matthew we used it mainly for changing and storing stuff. Now both boys play in there and Thomas sleeps in his big boy bed minus the bed rail as they destroyed it on the weekend. And up until about 2 weeks ago I used to change Thomas on his low dresser and now we just do it on hie bed, the floor or wherever he will lay down for me.
Hillbilly Housewife replied: Before Zach turned one, his room was ONLY for sleepigng, because we had some storage in there too... and even sleeping wasn't regular in his room. He slept in our room until he was about 5 months old, then he'd sleep 1/2 the night in his crib in HIS room, the other half with us. When we started trying for Emilie, kwe decided that it was time he STAYED in his room - so we slpwly got hm to stay in his room (in his crib only)
When he turned 1, we changed his room - we put him in the computer room, on a matress on the floor. Then we upgraded him to a bunk bed....he sleeps on the bottom of course. When I put him up there for his nap - if he's not tired enough, he'll get off hi sbed and play with toys. At lease he will until I go back up and put him in his bed again... lol
But like yesterday he spent from 10 - 11:30 playing in his room, then he asked to *manger* which is to eat... so I brought him down for lunch. After lunch, I played with him a bit with Emilie, then he was rubbin g his eyes, so I brought him back up -he played until about 2:30. Then he asked to eat again...so i brought him down and gave him 1/2 banana, and /12 an apple. then he didn't want to go upstairs, he wanted to DRAW. Oh boy, did he ever. So i gave up on the nap, since if I gave him one now, he'd never go to bed at 7... lol and once he's in his bed at 7, after his bath, he'll talk to himseolf and his *babues* for a few minues, sometimes as long as 10 minutes... but he'll sleep until 6:30 or 7 the next morning. Then he'll get out of bed and play until abolut 7:30...then he says *milk, milk!* so we get up.
Emilie right now still sleeps in our room. Funny enough, she sleeps on her change table - it has elevated sides on all sides. Even should she roll, she wouldn't fall off - the side goes up. Really neat!
Kirstenmumof3 replied: Since Claudia shares a room with her brother she just sleeps in there! Our living room looks like a toy store exploded!
MilMunchMOM replied: well......the baby's room is actually Kari's room. The baby sleeps with me (nursing) I have a co-sleeper set up in my room. It will be this way at least for the next 6 mo's or so. Then Kari and Emily will share a bedroom.
Kaitlin'smom replied: I voted all but she hardly playes in her room, only when I am cleaning it or putting away her clothes. having a full sizs bed in there takes up space so she does not really have room to play. Hopefully we will get a new home in the next year or two and she will have her own room so she can have her toys in there and play. Our living room also look like a toy store exploeded, altho I did get a new storage bench for her stuff so its not as bad now.
coasterqueen replied: I didn't vote because we use her room for sleeping and for changing diapers/storing clothes, but we do not use it for playing per se. We will go back there and sit in front of her mirrored closet doors and play games, but we do not keep any toys back there. Ryan and I are firm believers that the bedroom should be for sleeping/studying, not for playing. So we have made a point to have somewhere else for her to have for playing.
When she had toys in her room before, she would wake up in the middle of night to play with them. Now with them out of her room things are much better.
ediep replied: all of the above....Jason only sleeps in his crib if we are home. He will play in his room if I am upstairs with him, and I change his diaper in there also. I don't mind going up and down all day.....some days its the only exercise I get
chloe&tysmommy replied: I voted just to sleep. I try to keep her door closed during the day b/c once she gets in there- it's a disaster!!! She takes all of her movies and stuffed animals off the shelf and 'cleans' her drawers for mommy haha
DansMom replied: Changing diapers, dressing, and playing (I had to pick one). He takes his naps there---but for overnight, he's been in our room from day one.
Schnoogly replied: Until about 10 months, only changing diapers and storage.
Now, all of the above. Not as much playing though, except while he's getting changed. One of us sleeps in there with him on a big futon on the floor while the other sleeps in our bed. He does most of his playing in the family room, and all his toys are in there.
kimberley replied: i voted changing and storage because we are still co-sleeping but she does play in there and take a nap there once in a while.
Mom2Boyz replied: We spent a fortune remodling Conners room, and we rarely even go in there. His clothes are kept in there, but that's about it. For the first couple of weeks, I would change his diaper in there, but I found it's much easier to just change him in the living room. I'm sure he'll spend more time in there once he is older.
Melissa replied: I use it for everything. Matthew sleeps there everynight. I also use the changing table. It's the only way I can get matthew to sit still while changing. He also plays there every once in awhile.
