amymom replied: I am sorry I don't know what you are refering to?

mckayleesmom replied: Me either....I am lost....Are you from Canada? Is it a Canadian thing Im guessing?

ready4looneybin replied: wub.gif

I never even thought of that, hehehe

It's our Child Tax Credit... each family gets a certain amount based on number of children, age of children and income, and yes, it's Canadian. It comes on the 20th of every mth, and the Fri. b4 if that falls on a wkend.

I wanted to buy groceries!!! dry.gif

amymom replied: I need one of those checks. wink.gif

PrairieMom replied: Makes me think of moving to Canada. cool.gif

kimberley replied: yes it does. if the 20th is a weekend, it will be deposited the friday before. i got mine friday. also, most people don't know, but the december check comes on the 13th so we can shop for christmas early smile.gif

mummy2girls replied: yes i got mine on friday. i get it directly deposited into my account. Sometimes though if its mailed to you it can take longer. Just call the government and ask. let them know you did not recieve it and see what they say...

mckayleesmom replied: Do you guys recieve them every month?

kimberley replied: yes but only until the child is 7yo.

mummy2girls replied:
yes on the 20th of each month. and then in jan and july we get a family bonus cheque as well. I always love those months because i get 500 in total from the gov..plus a gst cheque... gotta love it:)

mckayleesmom replied: Thats cool....Im moving to Canada.... rolling_smile.gif

mom21kid2dogs replied:
Yeah, that and socialized health care make that 5 hour trip north look pretty darn lucrative! cool.gif

amymom replied:

mummy2girls replied:

mummy2girls replied:

mummy2girls replied:

yes when i was preggo i was able to stay off of work for 12 months... but i hardly got much so i couildnt manage to do that:(

moped replied: Kimberely, my sister still gets it and her kids are 10 and 15..............until they are 18........and that is federal not provincial!

PrairieMom replied: Canada is sounding better and better! i am so frusterated with our health insurance situation here. growl.gif

ready4looneybin replied:
You get it till the child[ren] are 18 unless they're no longer living at home. Our oldest is 15 and we still get money for him, although it isn't that much.

When a child turns 7, your check amount goes down, but you'll still get money. We don't get much anymore b/c DH makes too much money, but it covers the rest of the bills that he can't cover.

We also get direct deposit, and have for yrs at the same bank.

kimberley replied: i dont get it anymore for jacob and will lose it for james in april when he turns 7yo. i just filled out the forms for jade 2yrs ago and it says right on it that the child tax credit is only available for children under 7yo and it is provincial. i get nothing federal. weird. dunno.gif

and we dont have family allowance here either unless you are on social assistance. i need to move to Alberta lol. i do get a working family supplement that is supposed to help with the cost of daycare but that is like $15/mo rolleyes.gif

booey2 replied: Hi all, Kimberley you should look into the Canada Child Tax Benefit, cause that is what we get, here is a link :canada child tax benefit You get this til they are 18.

Here is a quote from the site:

What is the Canada Child Tax Benefit?
The Canada Child Tax Benefit (CCTB) is a tax-free monthly payment made to eligible families to help them with the cost of raising children under age 18.

Included with the CCTB is the National Child Benefit Supplement (NCBS), a monthly benefit for low-income families with children. The NCBS is the Government of Canada's contribution to the National Child Benefit, a joint initiative of federal, provincial, and territorial governments, and First Nations.

The CCTB also includes the Child Disability Benefit (CDB), a monthly benefit providing financial assistance for qualified families caring for children with severe and prolonged mental or physical impairments.

CantWait replied: I got mine.

3_call_me_mama replied: I could move across teh street and be in canada:) We get somethgin similar, but it comes at income tax return time. It's not money mailed direstly to us. But it is a deduction type thing. And last year we got $200o extra mailed to us because of a change adn they didn't credit it in time. THAT was nice. But other than that here it is income based, on how much you can claim/ get back on your children.. EIC.. Earned Income Credit. Families that make under a certain amount qualify adn get more money back in the return. Doesn't help ya if you have to pay in though:(

holley79 replied: A girl I work with is from Canada. She was telling me about this and their maternity leave. I need to move to Canada. dry.gif dry.gif
