BTDT Moms - HELP!
holley79 wrote: Annika has some kind of something on her bum. I"m not sure what it is. It looks like little ant bites but I don't think that is what they are. I've been putting her perscription bum cream and A&D but it's been there for 3 days now. Is there anyone I can email or PM these pictures to and can you maybe tell me what it is.
holley79 replied: Anyone?
kimberley replied: email me the pic... kimberleygb@yahoo.com
holley79 replied: Sent, thank you so much. This is really bothering me.
kimberley replied: i typed you an email. but it looks like a reaction to something. maybe keep her diaper off for a bit and see if air helps.
kit_kats_mom replied: could it be heat rash from bundeling her up during the cold snap? What butt cream did you try? It may be yeast and if you do a google images search for yeast diaper rash, you will get some pictures of what it looks like.
Cece00 replied: Is it like bumps or little blisters?? Check her scalp and see if she has some...could be chicken pox. My daughter woke up one morning with what looked like ant bites/mosquito bites in her diaper area & I was like "what happened???" & then I noticed some on her scalp...it was chicken pox.
Its probably NOT that, but I was totally caught off guard by it...so I'd check.
redchief replied: Though I haven't seen the rash, I tend to lean toward a rash over bites. I'd be thinking on the lines of what Kimberley said.
boyohboyohboy replied: caleb used to get rashes on his bottom all the time, when we tried new foods, and we use a creme called triple paste its the only thing that works for him. if you are really nervous about it, why not just take her in to have the ped look at her? it always helps to make you feel better... i do it all the time.
punkeemunkee'smom replied: If it is individual red bumps it could be a yeast infection-Tay used to get them. Has she been on antibiotics recently? Try some Lotrimin or Monistat on her just like you would with diaper cream. Regular diaper cream has zinc and it will irritate her little hiney because it won't allow the rash to breathe...leave her bare butted as much as possible
holley79 replied: Kimberly Thank you.
I have been using a cream that was given to me by her pedi when she had a diaper rash that was yeasty. I'll give it another couple of days and see how it goes. If it gets worse then I'll take her in. It just is really driving me batty. Right now she is bare bottom. If she TT's I have some resolve and towels.
redplaydoh replied: I was going to say yeast too... there is something that knocks out yeast rashes in one treatment although it's messy as heck. Gentian Violet available through health food/homeopathic stores. It's purple liquid and I used it on my boys when they got yeast rashes (especially after antibiotics). They would have bleeding blisters and would be quite painful. After the drops of this stuff it seemed like the pain went away instantly and it healed very quickly... although they had a purple bottom for a few days. This stuff does stain so if you use it be careful.
I gave it to my neighbor after her daughter had tiny blisters for several weeks that didn't clear up with anti-fungual cream. Within two days the blisters were healed.
holley79 replied: I just found a picture of yeast and it's not looking the same. maybe it's because what I was looking at is so severe and her's isn't like that. The triple cream I got was from the Dr and it's always worked int eh past. I may get some Gentian Violet though. I remember Tara using it on thrush for The Girl. If it's not cleared but by Mon then I will take her in. If it gets worse by Sat I'll take her in.
Thanks for the reminder on the GV I didn't think about that being ont he bottom.
kimberley replied: it is not a yeast infection. i am no doc but i have seen the rash and that's not it.
kit_kats_mom replied: Go to the pharmacy tomorrow and pick up some Dr. Smiths diaper cream. It's pricey but sooo worth it. Lauren had a wicked bad diaper rash when she was in the hospital with RSV. It was open wounds, looked like a burn and it was just awful. The hospital gave me some triple paste but it didn't touch this. I used a little, I used a lot, I aired her out and nothing worked. At her recheck with the ped a week later, the ped looked at it, gave me a sample of Dr. Smiths and no lie, the redness was gone by the next morning and the sores healed within days and best of all, no more pain. I swear by that stuff if it's not yeast.
Simplebeliever replied: I haven't seen the picture, but if it's heat rash treating it as if it is a yeast infection or a diaper rash isn't going to help it. Heat rashes need to be kept cool and dry. If it doesn't clear up on it's own after a few days you can use calamine lotion or a 1% hydrocortisone cream.
I hope her tush is feeling better soon! GL.
mom2my2cuties replied: I don't have any real suggestions for you but I hope her tushie is feeling better this evening Poor baby. Mine were ALWAYS very sensative and we had to cut out juice and anything acidic because of it so we spent a lot of time with diaper rashes. We had a special prescription cream for thier bottoms.
Simplebeliever replied: I don't know what your daughter's rash looks like, but I found a picture from the summer in which my daughter has very visable, prickly heat rash. Does your daughter's rash look similiar?

Boo&BugsMom replied: Have you tried Triple Paste. I swear by that stuff for most bum break outs.
coasterqueen replied: Um, your pedi didn't give you a nystatin cream for that diaper rash did he/she? If so that could be making things worse. Nystatin has sugar in it and only feeds yeast.
coasterqueen replied: BTW, a yeast rash doesn't have to look that severe.
But if Kimberley saw the pics and doesn't think it's yeast, then it's probably not.
My2Beauties replied: Are the bumps rough? How red are they? Are they really raised or just slightly? The reason I ask is because Hanna has eczema and she gets eczema patches mostly on the back of her legs up to her butt and on her belly. Sometimes it looks really awful and looks like a horrible rash or mosquito bites, she actually did it recently. Her doctor prescribed some eczema cream that works wonders. Other than that, it could be what some other moms may have suggested.
stella6979 replied: Believe it or not, if you put some flour in a non stick skillet and fry it til it turns light brown, that stuff gets rid of a diaper rash just like that. Ok, maybe not just like that, but usually within 2 days.
holley79 replied:
Anyone else try this? Sounds like a good idea. If all else fails then I may try it as a last resort.
I need to inspect Annika's bum when I get home and just see what we have.
stella6979 replied: Here's a link to some home remedies that lists the flour in the frying pan technique. Just thought I'd share so you didn't think I wa pulling your leg.

punkeemunkee'smom replied: Holley~ I was going to PM you that but I thought you would go She lost it now for sure! Yes we call it Indian baby powder and one of us always makes a jar up for any new moms baby shower except we use corn starch. You brown it, which removes all the moisture,so it seeks moisture and when applied to the skin it will absorb any weepiness and extra moisture out of a rash...You need to be careful that you wash her booty with water in between changes tho and dry her bottom really well, because if it collects on her skin- it will hold bacteria
