BRAXTON HICKS???
jen wrote: Ok I was in the grocery store lastnight and practically dove into my cart in pain! Pretty much because it caught me off guard! LOL! So I was wandering what do Braxton Hicks Contractions feel like??? I am pretty sure that is what it is. I will all of a sudden feel tightening and a cramp like feeling and just about be paralyzed for lack of a better word and then it goes away almost as quick as it comes. I have a call in to my doctor's office just to let the nurse know and describe it to her, JUST TO BE a Paranoid Patient! LOL! I can handle them just fine now, the first one just threw me! Anyway, has anyone else had them and how would you describe them.
mummy2girls replied: They sound like BH. When i had my first one i was standing in my living room and i doubled over because it took me off guard and it hurt! How far along are u again?
jen replied: I will be 24 wks on saturday, I think my ticker is a little off somehow!
coasterqueen replied: Sounds like BH to me. I could have sworn I was in labor a million times when I was pg and I was told they were BH every time, It made me wonder exactly how painful was labor going to be if the BH's were painful. DH just told me I was a wimp. I made sure he never made that comment again.
ediep replied: I had tons of BH contrax! They kind of felt like a major tightening!! Like the baby was pushing out on my belly. I'm sure thats what it was. Just to be sure, mention it to your ob at your next visit.
Heather replied: Sounds like BH to me too. I had them a lot with Alison. Just make sure you drink lots and lots of water. VERY IMPORTANT!!
kimberley replied:
i agree dehydration can bring them on really hard and painful. hope they ease up for you.
jem0622 replied: Yes, I agree about dehydration. Drink LOTS. Whenever I had BH contrax (more common with each pregnancy you have) your belly hardens up. Sometimes they hurt and sometimes they don't.
Hope all is well!

Maddie&EthansMom replied: When I was pg with Maddie I didn't feel them for the longest time, but it seems like with this one I have been having them since early on in the pregnancy. It sounds like that is what you are having (from your description).
A&A'smommy replied: i have never had braxton hicks or felt them if i did..sorry im not any help but i bet that is what your having.
Kirstenmumof3 replied: Oh yes I remember those braxton hicks contractions! For me they were pretty much like regular contractions but they didn't last as long!
MommyToAshley replied: I must have missed this post earlier.
Sounds like BH to me. BH won't be regular like labor. I didn't have them until later in my PG. But, we almost turned the car around one time and went to the hospital because I thought I was in labor. But, then they just stopped.
I agree that I would mention them to your OB because s/he should be informed of anything that is going on with you.
Wow! You're well past the 1/2-way mark now! wooohooo!
MomToMany replied: Sounds like BH to me. I started getting them pretty early with this PG. They don't hurt, just uncomfortable, but noticeable. Mention it to your OB, and s/he should give you peace of mind.
