I'd told MIL that the car seats (Two britax's) are big and I requested that only one person come to pick us up. She said "oh, we can all squeeze in". Ok, she meant, I can squeeze my size 18 butt between them. Grrrr. I seriously have two bruises where the seats were digging into my hip bones for the whole 3 hour drive and my back is KILLING me since I couldn't sit back because my shoulders wouldn't fit. SO, we are driving and the girls are pretty much at their limit of confined time for the day and they start screaming and acting up. I asked FIL if I could give them lollipops (known as shut up sticks in our house) and he said no. So I got to be uncomfortable and listen to the two monsters in stereo.

We got to the house and Lauren fell down the stairs and landed on her head within 5 minutes. She's ok but she scared the crap out of me. We all know that stairs are irristable to kids so there is now a recliner pushed up against them which I have to heave out of the way before I can get to our room.

Then about an hour after we'd gotten home we find out that FIL's brother died while they were at the airport picking us up. He'd been sick and it was expected but still, a shock for them. They both went over there to see the widow and left us here.

TOday, I've been setting up MIL's new pc and it's giving me fits. I can't get the printer to work and she's on dial up which is awful

kit_kats_mom replied: oh and how could I have forgotten? Her sisters 50th birthday is next week. She wanted her whole family to see her grandkids so there will be 15 people that I either don't know at all or have only met once, arriving on Friday for a party. And they are all staying here.

BTW. the girls are having fun. They've been outside with nana all day petting the horses and donkey, chasing the cats, playing with the dogs and other stuff.

redplaydoh replied: Sorry the car ride was so bad... I found that with my mom she's clueless with carseats because we didn't have to have them as kids. She was clueless on how big ours were too... we also have Britax.
Maybe the return trip won't be as bad.

I always take a bag of chocolate kisses on the airplane and pass them out to the surrrounding passengers when my kids act up. Maybe with a little kiss they are more forgiving. It's a shameless bribe, but it does work!

DansMom replied: Hang in there, Cary! It sounds like quite a project. I remember taking our Britax on the plane---you realize those things are huge when you have to actually move them from seat to seat.
