Astrology - who's a believer?
cameragirl21 wrote: I am! I am sun in Aquarius moon in Leo with Aries rising anyone else?
MyBabeMaddie replied: I dont know much about it but I went to see a psychic last summer who based her stuff off of Astrology (and yet was a devout Catholic ((I dont know how the 2 go together))) but she said last June that "You will be the mother of a baby girl next August" She was off by a day, Maddie's bday is July 31 but she made me a believer!
cameragirl21 replied: July 31 makes her a leo, one of my fave signs! let's see here...leo.... Leo 23 July to 22 August element--fire Leo is enthusiastic, powerful, expansive, creative, generous, extravagant, dogmatic and fixed in opinion. Ruling planet--the sun symbol--the lion, possessing nobility and pride, king of the jungle. dominant key phrase--I will animal ruled by leo--all felines
MyBabeMaddie replied: Oh do me! I'm a gemini what are my qualities?!
cameragirl21 replied: my dad's a gemini! ok, let's see, gemini.... Gemini element--air Gemini is lively, energetic, versatile, and intellectual, lives primarily in the mind rather than the emotions, and is extremely adaptable to new situations. ruling planet--Mercury, ancient messenger of the gods. symbol--the twins, symbolizing duality, humanity, versatility, and communication. dominant key phrase--I think. animal ruled by gemini--brightly colored birds and butterflies.
MyBabeMaddie replied: lol I use to be extremely adaptable and not so emotional but I think that statement is opposite after all those pregnancy hormones! lol
cameragirl21 replied: well, i don't think astrology takes hormones into account...
MyBabeMaddie replied: Lol thats true - do you have all the signs memorized or do you have a book on astrology?
cameragirl21 replied: a little of both, actually--i pretty much know every sign but i also have books i refer to when these sorts of discussions come up....
coasterqueen replied: I guess I believe in it a bit. I really don't know much about it.
Can you do me and my girls? I'm 8/31, Kylie is 9/7 and Megan is 3/16.
If you don't want to that's ok too.
cameragirl21 replied: it's my pleasure to do everyone, Karen. let's start with you....actually, you and Kylie are both Virgos.... Virgo 23 August to 22 September element--earth Virgo is reserved, modest, practical, discriminating and industrious, analytical and painstaking, seeking to know and understand. ruling planet--Mercury, ancient messenger of the gods, communication and commerce. symbol--the virgin, representing purity, modesty, industriousness, and service to those around her. dominant key phrase--I analyze animals ruled by Virgo--small domestic animals
cameragirl21 replied: And now for Megan.... Pisces 19 February to 20 March element--water Pisces is receptive, intuitive, emotional, imaginative, romantic, impressionable, mystical, adaptable, and very changeable.\ Ruling planet--Neptune--ancient god of the sea. symbol--two fishes tied to one another and swimming in opposite directions, signifying hidden depths, shifting emotional currents, conflicting desires, and extremes of temperament. dominant key phrase--I believe animals ruled by pisces--fish
coasterqueen replied: Thanks Jennifer! Kylie and I definitely fit the bill. Not sure about Megan yet.
Very interesting.
cameragirl21 replied: my pleasure, Karen, I'm always up for talking about astrology. How are the kids after your trip? I know you were worried about Megan not wanting to nurse afterward...how did that go? Take care....
coasterqueen replied: Aww, thanks for asking. The trip went well. The girls did well with Ryan. When I went to pick up the girls at daycare they came running for a hug. I picked Megan up, she put her hand down my shirt, looked down at my shirt, looked up at me and went "hmmph?" Which is kind of her mumble for milk. So I guess 4.5 days away from me didn't make her forgot about nursing.
Nina J replied: I'm not sure if I believe in it. Arn't horoscopes and things very vague, things that are likely to happen?? I don't know to much about it though.
redchief replied: Astrology = Hogwash
cameragirl21 replied: well, Karen, you know what they say, absence makes the heart grow fonder...of the BB in this case, lol. Your girls are so cute and seem really sweet, I'm sure they're a joy to have. But you are brave to be nursing at 18 months, I mean they are chewing and biting at that age... And Nina, if you tell me your bday I can tell you your sign but I'm not a mindreader so I can't do anything without a bday....
cameragirl21 replied: Ed, you, the believer?! Come on, this cannot be. Tell me your bday....
Nina J replied: I'm a sagitarrius (sp?)..Can you do Emily and Odessa's too? I want to see if the description fits there personalitys
redchief replied: Hah! Devine it!
cameragirl21 replied: Sagittarius 22 November--21 December element--fire Sagittarius is energetic, ambitious, generous, freedom-loving, a seeker of challenge, and open to new ideas and exploration. ruling planet--the most important Roman god, ruler of the heavens. Jupiter is the planet of good fortune, optimism, expansion and abundance. symbol--the archer, representing directness, high aims, a love of outdoor activity, and the chase. dominant key phrase--I see animal ruled by sagittarius--horse
luvmykids replied: I know the signs of significant people in my life and agree that usually they match up personality wise, but thats about as far as I go with astrology.
cameragirl21 replied: Emily is a Virgo, which I already described to Karen, see above. And Odessa is a Taurus. Taurus 20 April to 20 May element--earth Taurus is quiet, affectionate, patient, stable, determined and practical, stubborn and resistant to change. Ruling planet--Venus, Roman goddess of beauty, the arts, pleasure, and emotion. symbol--the bull, representing strength, stubborness, plodding, and an animal that can be both fierce and gentle. dominant phrase--I have animals ruled by Taurus--cattle
cameragirl21 replied: And Ed, I think the word you want is divinate, and c'mon, my name is NOT Miss Cleo! Tell me your bday and I'll tell you about your sign...
cameragirl21 replied: And Monica, if you tell me your bday, I'll tell you about your sign, if you don't want to, that's ok too....
redchief replied: Nope, I meant devine (to seek out); divinate would give supernatural credence to the idea.
You already described my sign.
cameragirl21 replied: oh, sorry, Ed, my bad. are you a virgo?
Nina J replied: Odessa is definatly resistant to change..she fight's hard everytime I try to change her clothes
The descriptions do fit there personalitys Thanks
redchief replied: Do I seem Virgoic?
cameragirl21 replied: am I right?
redchief replied: Heheh... No. I'm a Pisces.
luvmykids replied: I'm already familiar with mine (Virgo) and my kids (the twins are Pisces, Macie is Aquarius) and won't name my MIL's sign because I don't want to hurt anyones feelings but I'm 100% convinced it's the reason she is so difficult But thank you
eta: I guess the fact that I blame my MIL's shortcomings on her sign means I do "believe" a tad
cameragirl21 replied: cool, I'm aquarius too. is your MIL a taurus by any chance...?
luvmykids replied: No, but I'm pretty sure she has multiple personalities if that helps you at all
cameragirl21 replied: oh, lol, gemini? geminis are usually pretty cool, except for the fact that they never stop talking and can never seem to make up their minds about anything. no offense, M, but it seems to me that maybe your MIL is just a little nuts and it may just have nothing to do with her sign and everything to do with the fact that maybe she's just plain nuts. you just gotta hope it's not hereditary. it's what I say about my Mom's cousin...my mom is absolutely brilliant, her cousin is a waste of a human life, I just hope it's not hereditary....
cameragirl21 replied: Pisces, Ed? Lol, that is the opposite of Virgo, literally, they are opposing signs. Are you drawn to water? My godson is pisces and we can't keep him away from water...when my godson's mom was first potty training she didn't wash his hands after he went potty because he'd play with the water too much and get all wet. it means you must be very deep and very emotional and perhaps a bit prone to depression and introversion, particularly when you are trying to work out something difficult.
luvmykids replied: She is nuts, but so is DH's grandma on the other side of his family and they are totally unrelated. Both G's, so I equate G's with being a PITA
The funny thing is, they can't stand each other and complain incessantly about each other but they are exactly alike
No offense to anyone else who shares their sign
redchief replied: Drawn to it? Nah. I was born to it. I live on a barrier island, but my leo father and libra mother planted me here. I also don't conform to the pisces personality. I'm also not cusp, so that doesn't explain it.
punkeemunkee'smom replied: He is a Firefighter and a plumber-that enough water for you?
I don't believe in it-I think that the descriptions are very broad and at least a few of the characteristics will match a vast majority of people born under the signs. I feel the same way about the chienese symbols and such. I do completely admit I am facinated by numbers and have several that repeat over and over in my life and I find it pretty cool! I just wouldn't bet the bank on it still, KWIM?
redchief replied: I'm also supposed to be weak of will and easily lead. Ummm... I don't think so.
punkeemunkee'smom replied: Yeah, I would say that would be a definate miss!
cameragirl21 replied: pisces are not weak willed, just impressionable and not stubborn, they are not resistant to anything. Except now, Ed, you're resistant to the wonders of astrology... And Monica, it's really not a gemini thing, most geminis are rather interesting but they do seem nutty sometimes because they change their minds constantly and are prone to extremes. The fact that they hate each other and are exactly alike is pretty typical, sounds like on some level they probably can't stand themselves either, lol. The hardest thing about getting married it seems, is that you're not just getting the guy, but also his whole family, warts and all....
C&K*s Mommie replied: I do not believe in it, not enough to allow it to explain events or to dictate my life and circumstances within it, nor to define me. So my bottom line answer to the question is no.
I am curious about many things, including the Chinese birth yr signs-- which is why when I get a tattoo it will be of the two animals my girls are represented by in Chinese astrology. Beyond that there is not much direct correlation to them, as Abbie said only vague descriptions that can encompass anyone's personality.
The traits for my sign may or may not fit me well, but I am not a believer in them.
Thanks Jennifer for sharing your knowledge! It is still interesting to know
luvmykids replied: You're right, but the analytical Virgo in me will settle for their sign as an explanation for it
amymom replied: Interesting topic. I really do not believe, although I find co-incidences related to these things interesting. I can find as many things that go in line with them as go against them. In schools I can see class personalities and since kids are grouped by year of birth that plays into the Chinese signs etc. I have spoken to teachers at different schools and they will sometimes describe how a class behaves, and they will be at the same grade level, unrelated and be acting the same. Like ~~ "oh our third graders this year are loud" It amuses me. Also I can see as many of the personalities that line up with astrology as I can see be opposed to it.
But it is an interesting topic, nonetheless.
mom2my2cuties replied: I don't believe one iota in Astrology.
I think that the astrolgocial signs are a generalization that can fit any person. We all have the personality traits at one point or another - I also feel the same way about the Chinese signs.
luvbug00 replied: I'm an aquarias and all that jazz. I don't believe that it defines who you are or should be. I just go where the wind takes me and do what I feel like and believe destiney will shape my life.

Aquarius - called by the Greeks Hydrochoos, "the Water-Pourer." "Aquarius" is a Latin translation of the Greek name.
Aquarius is open-minded and usually holds no prejudices. Aquarius is serene and friendly. Aquarius will listen and learn from anyone to find the truth. Aquarius has so many interests that there are times his energy is spread too thin.
Aquarius makes a sincere friend. Marriage for Aquarius may take longer as he does not open up easily. Aquarius says, "I know"

kit_kats_mom replied: I think it's interesting and I enjoy reading about it but I don't use it to make decisions or anything.
I'm an Aquarian, raised by a Cancer (which probably muted some of my more quirky ways). Married to a Virgo with a Virgo Daughter and a Capricorn Daughter.
I do think its pretty funny that Lauren is a Capricorn and she will eat anything...including paper and stuff, which has led to her nickname, The Goat.
holley79 replied: Never give it much thought. Read my horoscope just for fun in Cosmo though.
coasterqueen replied: Hmmm, I think I have a little gemini in me as well as Kylie. We never stop talking and can never make up our minds....or so Ryan would say.
coasterqueen replied: We are opposites, ey? Hmmmm.
cameragirl21 replied: ok, Cary, let's do yours.... Aquarius 20 January to 18 February element--air Aquarius is assertive, independent, progressive, analytical, original and inventive, has strong dislikes and firm opinions. (lol, can you see the aquarius in me, PC board?) Also know as the visionary, Aquarius is considered to be the most dynamic sign in the zodiac. ruling planet--Uranus--ancient Greek sky god, first ruler of the universe. symbol--the water bearer, dispensing a gift that flows freely and equally to all, representing creation and the giving of life. dominant key phrase--I know animals ruled by Aquarius--large birds ------------------------- we already did virgo, but now for Capricorn, my mom's a Capricorn, and she's the smartest and greatest person I know! Capricorn 22 December to 19 January element--earth Capricorn is reserved, prudent, patient, uses cunning instead of force (so true about my mom btw), seeks security, is acquisitive, disciplined, determined, and quick to seize an opportunity. Also known as "the walking resume." ruling planet--Saturn, representing obstacles, restriction, limitation and discipline. symbol--the goat, a surefooted animal who is able to ascend the heights by taking advantage of every foothold. The goat butts its way through obstructions. dominant key phrase--I use, I achieve animals ruled by Capricorn--goats and any animal with a cloven hoof
Jamison'smama replied: I am a Virgo--I somewhat fit that description
DH is a Tarus--not sure if you gave that description
DD is a Libra Sept 27
DS is a Capricorn I think Dec 30
cameragirl21 replied: Lol, Karen, I suppose that this is something any typical guy would say about most women...especially if he's the only male in a family of 3 women. It's funny, I'm a big baseball fan and everytime the players have a brawl or some sort of altercation I always say it's because they just have too much testosterone going on and could benefit from either some cheerleaders or some women in the organization. But I never thought about the opposite--where a guy has too much estrogen around him....
cameragirl21 replied: ok, Jamison's mama, let's to Libra and Taurus. Libra 23 September to 22 October element--air Libra is active, artistic, easy going, peaceable, prizes beauty and harmony, is diplomatic and polished and very socially inclined. ruling planet--Venus, goddess of love and beauty. symbol--the scales, signifying balance, equilibrium, order and justice. dominant key phrase--I balance animals ruled by Libra--snakes and lizards ---------------------------- Taurus 20 April to 20 May element--earth Taurus is quiet, affectionate, patient, stable, determined yet practical, stubborn and resistant to change. ruling planet--Venus, goddess of love and beauty. symbol--the bull, strong, stubborn, plodding, can be both fierce and gentle. dominant key phrase--I have (Taurus is the most acquisitive of the signs and prizes possessions greatly). animals ruled by Taurus--cattle
mom2my2cuties replied: Ditto - 100%
TANNER'S MOM replied: Well I don't know that I believe in the whole thing. I think some of who we are is b/c of when we are born.. birth order etc.
I think some of it is neat to read..when you go oh yeah thats me. But isn't all of it a bit of us.
We can all be loud and outgoing..and then have a very quite moments too> KWIM?
Maddie&EthansMom replied: I find it interesting. I don't 'believe' in it, per se.
I'm an Aries, but I'm April 19 so I consider myself a mix of an Aries/Taurus. Do they say anything about the person whose b-day falls on the last day?
Maddie and DH are Gemini
Ethan is a Pisces
MoonMama replied: Somewhat. But I don't stress about it too much, but sometimes its fun and true for me.
cameragirl21 replied: Aimee, you fall on a cusp, which means you have elements of both signs, depending on the astrologer who you are asking. Some swear by the validity of cusps while others don't believe in cusps at all. I fall on a cusp, 21 January but I have zero Capricorn qualities, I'm mostly like a leo, my moon sign and I also have a lot of Aquarian qualities (Aquarians by nature question everything, LOVE controversy if for no other reason than to get some intellectual fun out of a debate, are very humanitarian and see things from a futuristic standpoint, thereby rejecting the notion of tradition or the status quo) and have a lot of Aries qualities also as that's my rising sign. I already did Gemini and Pisces so let's do Aries.... Aries 21 March to 19 April element--fire Aries is active, energetic, excitable, impulsive, optimistic, and very open to change and new experiences. ruling planet--Mars, ancient god of war, aggression and conflict. symbol--the ram, assertive, sexual, able to climb to great heights. dominant key phrase--I am animals ruled by Aries--sheep, especially rams Aries btw, is the first sign in the Zodiac so Aries natives are considered to be the babies of the Zodiac and are generally thought to be new souls, whereas Pisces, the last sign of the Zodiac are considered to be old souls and typically tend to be wise beyond their years and somewhat precocious in their thoughts and interests.
kit_kats_mom replied: See, Now I'll bet that Ed will be a believer in astrology.
I think that definition fits him to a 'T'
Crystalina replied: Did you do leo already? That's what I am. I only know that I'm a leo but I have never really gotten into it.
cameragirl21 replied: Crystal, leo is my fave sign on the zodiac! Leo 23 July to 22 August element--fire Leo is enthusiastic, powerful, expansive, creative, generous, extravagant, dogmatic, and fixed in opinion. Also loves to be the center of attention. ruling planet--the sun, center of our solar system. symbol--the lion, regal brave, dominating, sometimes indolent. Possessing nobility and pride. dominant key phrase--I will animals ruled by Leo--all felines
My3LilMonkeys replied: I find it interesting, but I don't necessary believe in it.
I'm a Capricorn, and it is about 90% true for me - reserved, patient, determined
Madison is a Taurus - fairly true - affectionate, patient, determined (although they are 2 of the same traits for Capricorn that I have so it could also be inherited traits)
Brooke I have no idea - I didn't see it anywhere in this post - Oct. 23.
cameragirl21 replied: Pam, Capricorn and Taurus are both earth signs so they will have some similarities. The elements--earth, air, fire, water all have similar dominant themes, they are just variations with a different concentration. As for Brooke, she's a Scorpio, my second fave sign. Before I describe it, let me warn you, Scorpio is a VERY sexual sign...it's also the sign of death, hence the scorpion being its symbol but it also indicates rebirth. Scorpios tend to be jealous and cruel but sensual and passionate beneath the surface. Scorpio 23 October to 21 November element--water Scorpio is imaginative, passionate, emotional, subtle, persistent, intense, obstinate, and unyielding. ruling planet--pluto, ancient god of the netherworld and the dead. symbol--the scorpion--a secretive, deadly creature that can poison its enemies. Its sting is often fatal. dominant key phrase--I desire animals ruled by Scorpio--insects and crustaceans. Remember also that a scorpion is a gentle, harmless animal until you mess with it, then it becomes deadly. That's the best way to think of a person born under Scorpio. Btw, I meant to tell you, I have a good friend named Pam and her only child, a girl is named Brooke....
kit_kats_mom replied: I wanted to point out that the only two scorpios I've know well, have both had hairtrigger tempers and when they were mad it was ugly. I was actually scared of my aunt (a scorpio) who is 5' 4 and thin as a rail but she was a raving lunatic over a spot on her shirt.
My3LilMonkeys replied: Oh goody, more temper - I was hoping this was just a phase.
It definately fits her well so far - imaginative, emotional, obstinate.
I wonder - the ruling planet is Pluto - I wonder what they'll do now that Pluto isn't a planet anymore?
