Are you a spender or saver?
momofone wrote: I admit I spend alot on food (going out to eat or groceries) but in other areas I'm pretty conservative with money. I try to have some in the bank for emergencies. How about you?
moped replied: I spend spend spend, Tom saves saves saves
Jackie012007 replied: I tend to be a saver - to counteract DF, who is a ridiculous spender. I only splurge once in a great while, other than that I stash it away and use it mostly on Carly's needs. I'm pretty thrifty when it comes to food too, we buy mostly generic. The only time I splurge with food is to buy organic produce - I try to buy organic whenever I can. The other thing I splurge on is laundry detergent - I buy the lavendar vanilla Tide and the matching dryer sheets... they smell SO good and I have an old, stinky dog and a pukey baby!!!
luvbug00 replied: spend, Lars saves
My2Beauties replied: Dh and I are big time spenders!
Hillbilly Housewife replied: When we spend, we spend. But usually we're pretty thrifty.
Twelve Volt Man replied: Pretty much right in the middle.
danahas4monkeys replied: Super saver here I can make a dollar sqeak now Rick can spend like theres no tomorrow!
coasterqueen replied: What is saving? I think you know my answer. I wish I wasn't and so would my husband.
Kaitlin'smom replied: I have a savings for emergincies, I would go bonkers if I did not have it. I like watching it grow and HATE when I have to take money out. SO while I do have to spend I am not fond of doing it unless its something I really want which happens very rare. However if its something I need I am okay with it but try to be very thrifty so I can get more for my money.
MommyToAshley replied: Both..
We tend to spend more than we should on going out to eat and doing things with the family (zoo, amusement park passes, passes to the museum, vacations, etc.)
But, then I don't spend on other things... I don't have to buy and have name brand clothes and accessories. I rarely buy anything for myself. I do try to stay out of children clothing stores though, because I tend to spend too much on Ashley.
We do save as well. We seldom buy big ticket items and plan and save before we do. And, we never buy anything that we can't pay cash for.
luvmykids replied: My habits have changed drastically over the last year, and not by choice but for the better. I'm definitely discovering the joy of saving although once in awhile I do spend on myself. Nothing over the top though, and definitely not just plain wasteful like I used to be. We're at a good place I think, not extravagant but nobody is going without things they really, truly want or need.
Although if you ask me DH's golf spendings are still waaaaay excessive
Calimama replied: We save a certain amount from each check for emergencies, but I usually just buy what I want. Half the time DH doesn't even notice.
Our Lil' Family replied: Right now there is not much to be saved but if I spent less on things like lunch for me and Thomas and those, "Oh it's just $1" things then I might have some to actually save. It's funny because we have a savings account for times when we need extra money but I HATE pulling out of there!
ETA: I guess overall I'm a spender but I can save when I know I need to.
mysweetpeasWil&Wes replied: Both. We spend a lot on groceries ($10 organic coffee that we go through once a week)...but we are constantly adding to our savings. DH is great about never carrying a balance on our credit cards. I use cash when buying clothes or miscellaneous items like gifts, toiletries, stuff for the boys. And I'm not talking big amounts of cash. We set a budget each week and that's all I spend, unless it's an emergency (goes on a credit card).
lovemy2 replied: We go in spurts - sometimes we save, save, save other times we spend, spend, spend - big ticket items we save for and we have an emergency fund - but its one we don't add to its just there - the savings account tends to go up and down....
Brias3 replied: I enjoy nice things, but I tend to be smart about purchasing- I'll wait for sales and use coupons, etc.
We do contribute to savings out of our income each month, so we're in good shape, but I know there are certain vices I have that I don't need to spend so much on
MotherForever2043 replied: Saver, but to a certain extent. I always have a saying that, well not really a saying, but expensive things are better qualty but cheaper things are less then perfect quality. Some things you just have to spend the extra bucks on when other things you can save a little. I don't ever use coupons ( lazy ) and i don't really pay attention to sales either
My3LilMonkeys replied: I'm a saver, DH is a spender.
