Are they supposed to taste good?
Maddie&EthansMom wrote: Protein bars. I can't eat something that tastes like a large vitamin. I thought maybe I would eat them in the mornings before going to the gym to give me some added protein (b/c I don't like breakfast). I can't hack it.
Kaitlin'smom replied: some are okay and otheres are YUCK
luvbug00 replied: I think they attempt to make them tase good but Uhhh they are horrid!
ammommy replied: I've found that the ones with a lot of soy products are pretty . My favorite is by Lean Source but I can only find it at my gym. I just grab an oatmeal bar or Nutragrain bar.
C&K*s Mommie replied: There was a protein bar that I has a sample of once, that was fabulous! Unfortunately, I never bought it and I cannot remember the name of it.
But there are some called Balance that IMO are awful! They are hard like vitamins, and they have mimicked the awful taste of vitamins.
Some are good, some are not at all. I wish I could tell you the name of some that are really good tasting and those that IMO are not.
punkeemunkee'smom replied: NOT yummy! Maybe just grab an oatmeal or granola bar. Most protien bars supposedly have alot of un-wanted sugars and fat in them anyway-according to Dateline and 20/20
coasterqueen replied: Hmm, never tried them. I always was under the impression they were high in WW points so I stayed away from them. Sounds like it was a good idea.
luvmykids replied: I haven't found the good ones yet. I think they taste like dirt. Blech.
mom21kid2dogs replied: Guess I can cross those off my "Top 10 Things To try Before I Die" list, eh!!
mysweetpeasWil&Wes replied: Have you tried Lara bars? They are more of an energy bar, than a protein bar, but they are made with raw foods (no cooking), so it's mostly nuts and grains and some have dried fruit. Higher in calories, but definitely gives you the energy and they taste really good! They don't add strange protein supps and stuff. The nuts alone are probably all the protein you need and you'll burn the calories anyway. Or try a protein smoothie. I've always found whey protein to taste better IMO.
Our Lil' Family replied: Oh man, my DH and I used to get these bars that were cookies and cream flavored....OMG! They were so good I'd want one every day. Because they were kinda pricey DH told me I could only eat one on a day that I worked out.....so I'd work out just to get to eat one!!!
If I remember the name brand I'll let you know.
luvmykids replied: Where do you find those?
Kaitlin'smom replied: I did like the Priea (SP?) bars that was yummy. They stoped making the Balance Bar I liked and most of the others are gross. There are a couple Power Bars that were not bad. I dont buy them often, to expensive to do all the time and for me to many calories.
fashionmumofboys replied: Never tried them, but I also heard awful stuff about these protein bars.
coasterqueen replied: You know Aimee, I was thinking it was Cary who mentioned before that she made her own protein bars. You might pm her and ask. I could be wrong though.
~Roo'sMama~ replied: I use to like Cliff Bars. They were pricey though. I've heard that a good pre-workout snack is a banana or a yogurt cup.
moped replied: I eat the Slim Fast meal bars - the optima ones that are more protein - they are quite yummy!
A&A'smommy replied: Pria, and slim fast are really good I lost 10lbs on slim fast once (and then i went off the diet )
mysweetpeasWil&Wes replied: I've bought them at Whole Foods or one of our local health food stores. They are actually made here in Colorado! Very yummy! Female owner, so I support that!
