Appointment Update

He said that from the feel of my cervix, it shouldn't be too long before the depo is gone 100% and we should be pregnant within 6 months. And aside from my weight - which is steadily dropping now (THANK GOD FOR COKE ZERO!!!!) I am in perfect condition for having the little critters and he also doesn't think I will have the 9 month barf fest I had with the last two either. Says that my Gallbladder disease was more than likely the cause of it.
But oh well - He also told me of his customized diet plan that helps you loose weight It sounded stupid at first - but after thinking about it, it made perfect sense.
I will tell you guys more about that if you want - he said the weight loss from that ALONE is minimal - but still there and it's even perfectly safe for pregnant women. He said that if I combined it with an excercise plan, my weight loss would be great with it
luvbug00 replied: and do tell!
mom2my2cuties replied: Well since you asked -
He said you can eat ANYTHING you want - no matter the calorie intake. (I didn't believe him on this point and am still not sure)
But he said - when you make dinner for the family - serve thier food on normal dinner plates and yours on a SALAD plate - and none of your food can touch. (i.e. Potatoes cant touch pork chop or corn)
And eat ONLY what is on your plate - and no snacking between meals. Although Sugar Free drinks do not count as snacks (WOOOHOOO to getting Coke Zero)
And basically - he said that the weight slowly comes off (about 5lbs a month).
But what you do is slow way down on your eating. You take 1 bite every minute until your food is gone, and you chew with absolutely nothing in your hands. He says you chew your food up, take a drink of your drink and then swallow, wait a minute and then do this again until your food is gone.
Basically - something about the feeling of hunger lasting only 20 minutes. It was a pretty interesting conversation. But he seems like a decent guy - very personable.
My3LilMonkeys replied: Sounds like an interesting diet - good luck!!
Personally, that would be nowhere near enough food for me - I prefer the good old fashioned calorie counting so I can eat 5 times a day.
mom2my2cuties replied: Yah that is what my thinking is - according to thier scale I have dropped 3lbs in the last week - so I think I will stick to what I am doing - Three seperate 1 mile walks with Augie - watching what I eat - doing my 'stuff' (don't know what else to call it) and drinking my coke zero and water. I am a BIG TIME coke drinker - and usually despise diet drinks - I tried this one and it turned out to taste fine.
luvbug00 replied: TFS I may have to take this one on!!! LOL!
youngmomofone replied: Glad that your appointment went well! I cant wait to hear about your bfp!
That diet sounds interesting, but I dont know if that will be enough food for me! LOL!!
mom2my2cuties replied: You know when I think about getting a postive now - I keep thinking - I don't mind waiting the 6 months to get pregnant Take my time - no stress - no worrying about it - no non stop charting and stuff - and no keeping up with my cycles (I am pretty laid back about this kind of stuff)
But then I think a little more and I am so excited I want to just burst. It has taken me almost 3 years to talk my husband into 1 more child.
I am rambling because I am really tired and bored - I can only watch Tom & Jerry so many times in one day But seriously - I am looking forward to being pregnant - but it dawned on me this afternoon - if I focus on that too much I am going to quit focusing on the "fun" part (And as Dr Melkin said today - 98% of the fun of having a baby is the trying to make the baby)
Anyway - I am done with my mindless ramble.
CantWait replied: I totally believe this will work, and you know I'm going to tell you why.
First off, by putting your meal on a dessert plate, you're actually putting less on, the actual servings you're suppose to be eating.
By taking slow bites, you're not making yourself so full at once, it doesn't make sense, but I always find that when I eat fast, I get full right away and walk away bloated, but if I eat slowly, I don't get so bloated. Also combining water helps to fill you up. You can also drink a glass of water half hour before your water.
I'm not so sure about the "no snacking" as you wouldn't be getting the daily requirements for the calories that you need. Surely fitting all the daily food requirements into 3 meals a day isn't possible.
Either way, I'm glad your appointment went well...and hopefully in the next 6 months you'll be delighting us with some good news.
~Roo'sMama~ replied: It sounds like a good diet to me too, except for the snacking part - I would add some healthy snacks in there. I get headaches if I try to make it to the next meal without a snack.
I'm glad you had a good appointment and everything's all set ~ good luck!
mom2my2cuties replied: Well that is my concern too - because i know with Andrea - I was ok as long as I snacked between meals.
I am all for loosing weight - but I think I am going to stick with what i have been doing Dr Melkin kind of scared me a little yesterday with some things he said - so I'm not sure if he is going to be my OB choice (Yesterday was my first visit) and after talking with Andrew about some of the things he said during my exam I have some concerns.
Like he just does an episiotomy routinely...Instead of using it as a last resort. And commented that I already have a map for him with the one I had with Mikee - But I didn't need one with Andrea.
youngmomofone replied: Yeah I would look into another doctor.
Yep Im taking the time to lose as much weight as I can (healthy way) before I get pregnant so that I won't have too many complications.
Good luck! Hopefully it won't take you long at all.
