Anyone watching the Presidential debates?
MommyToAshley wrote: It's starting now, going to go watch. Who knows I may be swayed.
Maddie&EthansMom replied: I'm watching b/c DH would be SO upset if I didn't!! I'm standing my ground though. I can't be swayed.
coasterqueen replied: Yes, I'm trying to watch it but my mind isn't on it, lol. I just hope it's over before ER starts.
kit_kats_mom replied: I'm watching it but Karen, bad news...according to the NBC website, ER isn't on tonight.
5littleladies replied: I'm not watching-I couldn't be swayed, but Dh is and he says they are both being really snippy and rude.
loveydad replied: I watched part of it and they weren't being snippy at all during that part. That's what I wanted to see! (lol just kidding) They were laughing and talking to each other, but it was kinda funny some of the mannerisms and stuff they did. I didn't watch much at all though because my son got stuck in a tree and was terrorizing the dog.
No I won't be swayed either.
MommyToAshley replied: I wasn't swayed, but it was a good debate.
At least they talked about the issues instead of all this stuff about Viet Nam that really doesn't matter now.
Josie83 replied: Do you mind me asking qhich way you lot are voting? I knowits a cheeky question and quite personal, so will understand if you don't want to answer. But I am really interested to know how people are voting in your election, because to me (from a British point of view) George Bush is a clown! Just my opinion . . . x x
TeagansMom609 replied: Well I tried watching it. We watched about 10 minutes then turned it off. Just couldnt get into it. I hate politics. I think they say a bunch of BS now to get you to vote, then they get elected and dont follow through most of the time.
KatieLeigh79 replied: Honestly at this time I don't know who I would vote for, I watched it as well and it is almost like I have to decide the lesser of the two evils to vote on... DH has his mind all said and done with and wants me to do the same, I kept telling him I would just vote for Nader so that I didn't have to elect either of them *g*..
MomToMany replied: Exactly what I was going to say!
kit_kats_mom replied: Well, I'm really disappointed in the choices we have. Neither one seems like a great leader who will do wonderful things for our country. That said, I will still vote and I will just vote according to my usual party preference....which is Democrat, Josie. LOL
I have to agree with you, that George Bush just seems like a bit of a dufus to me too and it kind of embarasses me that he is representing Americans. I suppose it's mainly his mannerisims & facial expressions (especially during the debate...he was KILLING me) but yep, I KWYM.
coasterqueen replied: Yeah, I gave up on it anyways...by 9 pm central time the debate was still on so I just decided to go to sleep. It's hard to stay in the dark, with the tv down low trying to stay awake.
coasterqueen replied: Since you asked Josie...and I'm not trying to start a debate. I think it's great we can come here and share our views without debating.
Well I will vote republican and stick beside our president during this time of war. It doesn't look good at all for our country to change presidents mid war. It sends bad signals to other countries IMO.
I was disappointed in Bush last night though. I thought he was being way too snippy and wasn't debating well. He just made me a bit mad, but I cannot vote for Kerry when people that served under him said there was no way in hades they would stand behind him as a president.
amynicole21 replied: I really intended to watch, but fell asleep 15 minutes into it. It was already starting to get on my nerves... W is so huffy, and seemed really unprepared. Kerry is long-winded and a bit stiff. *sigh* I'll vote along my party preferance, too... I think most people just do that anyway (D). Debates don't do terribly much to change public opinion
5littleladies replied: To answer Josie's question, I will be voting for George Bush. He really didn't do that well in the debate last night, but I'm not really concerned with how well he is at debating as with the fact that I agree with him on his policies.
Kaitlin'smom replied: Well I listend to it a little bit. I so hate the bashing of one another. I just want to hear what they are going to do for me (well us) so I might watch some of the others just to try and figure out who stands for what
My2Beauties replied: I watched bits and pieces of it...*yawn* they both bore me to tears, but George Bush had me laughing some of the time because I think he is one of the dumbest speakers we have ever had, lots of um's and uh's came out of his mouth!! To answer your question Josie I always vote Democrat especially now more than ever, I think Bush is an idiot. I don't want to offend anyone and I encourage everyone to vote for their favorite candidate and I'm not much into politics neither, I just go by what I have seen and in the 4 years he's been around he has not impressed me at all
MommyToAshley replied: Josie, to answer your question, I am voting for George W Bush. I too was a little disappointed in the way he handled the debate last night. He didn't make a lot of valid points that he could have, and chose to attack Kerry instead.
But, on the political and moral issues, I have to go with Bush. It was a tough call, but I think we did do the right thing by going into Iraq and we need a President that is going to be tough in times like today. I also agree with his stand on issues like the faith based initiatives, tax cuts, privatizing social security and school vouchers. I think he and republican party could do better when it comes to environmental issues, but in my eyes, he's the better choice of the two.

I think we've already sent plenty of bad signals to other countries. By violating UN resolutions and rushing into a war before we had credible intelligence, and with no viable exit strategy. By having no trouble protecting the oil ministries, but lots of trouble keeping THOUSANDS of innocent civilians from being killed.
I think this war is an evil, colossal mistake, has destroyed our credibility with our former allies and the world community at large, and I dread what another four years of denial will bring our troops, and the poor people living in the war zone.
And tax cuts are great, except of course when you have to pay for all the bombs, guns, tanks, medical care and disability for the thousands of wounded troops you never seem to hear about. There's no free lunch, where do you expect this money to come from?!
Maddie&EthansMom replied: I will vote for Bush.
DansMom replied: I'll vote for Kerry.
I watched the debate, but only half listening with the volume very low in the bedroom, while nursing Daniel to sleep with the lullaby "Where Have All the Flowers Gone?". It felt like a protest, even though Daniel was the only one to hear my voice.
DH was shouting in the living room though! All would be quiet, then I'd hear: "Where you live maybe!"....."It's unconstitutional!".... "I thought you were in Washington!" (huh---what was that one about?). I couldn't hear what prompted these comments, so the outbursts had me chuckling a bit.
Josie83 replied: Thanks for all your answers, I appreciate it! Politics is a bit of a rife thing in my house, Jason cannot stand Tony Blair and will rant at the TV unless its switched off, its got to the point where Cassie will see Tony Blair on the TV or in the newspaper and shout "its him daddy!" and it'll be switched off! I'm really interested to hear your answers, thanks. Can't wait to find out who wins. personally I would get rid of George Bush and his lapdog Tony Blair in one fell swoop . . . but that's just me!! xx
3xsthefun replied: I will be voting for Kerry.
My husband is trying to change my mind I don't think so. Bush is nothing but a idiot! Sorry to offend anyone I just can not stand the man.
MomofJandB replied: I watched the whole thing! I actually felt that they did a pretty good job. Bush seemed to be getting pissed off at Kerry, which cracked me up. But I also felt that Kerry didn't defend his flip flop opinions. I plan on voting for Bush. I'm not a big fan of either, but something about Kerry rubs me the wrong way! I usually vote Republican anyway. It'll be an interesting election!
