Anyone have toys from when you were kid - passed down to your baby?

My MIL did give us a few toys that DH used to play with when he was little -- a toy phone, a turtle, and some bath toys. The bath toys are her favorite. They have little people that fit inside a boat, teacup, and a turtle. She loves switching the people into the different things and then splashing to make them wiggle. LOL. rolling_smile.gif

maestra replied: My Cabbage Patch Doll- Thurston Ralph. Jaci just tries to chew on his head. My grandma bought it for me when I was 9- I wanted it so bad! rolling_smile.gif

supermom replied: I have all my Barbies, but I didn't pass them down to my girls - they are collectors items - smile - but I did have some other dolls and also some doll furniture - a cradle, a high chair, etc, all made of wood and also quite a few doll clothes that my grandma made especially to fit the babydolls. I also had some stuffed animals from when I was a young teenager that they also got to play with.

MomToMany replied: bawling.gif bawling.gif I WISH I had kept my toys, especially my Cabbage Patch Doll!! And my Baby Soft Sounds (another doll that made real baby sounds)!! And my teddy bear! There's too many to list!

laugh.gif I never had Barbies.

chloe&tysmommy replied: I wish I still had my barbies bawling.gif I had so many of them, but mom decided one day to sell them at a garage sale! bawling.gif

Oh well, its so funny though because she feels so bad for doing it- and now shes been buying barbies for Chloe! LOL She's the best!

DH has LOTS of JD tractors and he brought some up for Chloe to play with and even taught her how to make noises with her mouth! 2 cute wub.gif

MomToJade&Jordan replied: I actually have some Cabbage Patch Dolls from when I was a kid at my Mom's house. I plan on giving those to Jade. I used to play with Holly Hobby when I was little. I don't have the one I actually played with, but I found one on ebay. She will get that one. Maybe on her first birthday. thumb.gif

CantWait replied: I have some cabbage patch dolls and some barbies, don't think they'll be passed on to my sons though LOL. I also have a stuffed yellow bunny holding a baby bunny, it's so worn out right now that it's just displayed in the baby's room. I got it when I was born, so by now it's 26 years old and has been through 2 kids and on it's 3rd.

alice&arik replied: I recently found my original Rainbow Brite doll and Care Bear cousin. Arik likes to play with them. He likes to give Rainbow Brite hugs! grouphug.gif grouphug.gif But I wish I had kept more. smile.gif

paradisemommy replied: my mil kept everything of dh's - his bassinett, his stuffed animals - all his papers from school, etc. all his toys - he man stuff - pretty amazing..makes me wish my mom kept some of my toys dry.gif

juliajaj replied: Unfortunately, I don't have any toys, but I do have a rocking chair that I received for my birthday when I was 4. It's in Olivia's room & 2 of her dolls are sitting in it.

Mattel reissued some of there dolls from the 60's, and are being sold under the Classics Collection. My favorite doll when I was a little girl was Baby Drowsy. I noticed that this was one of the dolls in the collection, so I went ahead & ordered one for Olivia's birthday.

Kaitlin'smom replied: humm dunno if there is any in my parents gargae, I dont want to even try an dig through that mess! I do have My DH blankie from when he was little Kaitlin has it now, and i have in her room a small rocking chair that was my moms and a big rocking chair that was FIL's mothers. I still have my Gizmo, that was my favorite when I was a kid. Other than that I dunno what else I would have.

MamaMartie replied: I have a Fisher Price chime ball that I had as a baby. My older daughter has my cabage patch doll that I gave her this summer. I also have some strawberry shortcake dolls and the gazebo, a gilligan's island bath toy, 2 rag dolls I got when we went to see "Annie" on broadway, and a rag doll my mom made when I was little. Eventually our daughters will have to share those. Our sons have my dh's matchbox cars and starwars figures.

And when our oldest son was 2 my dad gave him 2 cars that were his from the 1930's. He & my dad had a ball playing with them. Til my MIL found out they are worth $1000 a piece! I kind of wish I didn't know what they were worth b/c now they just sit on a shelf where they can't be played with.

I think it is neat for children to have toys that were their parents. It reminds us that we all start out as kids. biggrin.gif
