Anyone get horrible break outs? - when pregnant
Jackie012007 wrote: I have been blessed my whole 22 years with PERFECT skin... not a zit through out my entire teenhood. And my run of good luck ended about a week or two ago... I have a face full of zits!! I feel so dumb because I know nothing about face care, I always used like noxema at night before I went to bed to get the makeup off, and sometimes I didn't do anything! Anyone have really crappy skin during their pregnancy... and what helps remedy it? I've been using a really gentle cleanser but my face is oily literally an hour after I wash it!! I think I need like an acne cleaning product, but have no idea which one to pick... any advice is greatly appreciated!
It's so sad, I've been holding off on taking a 15 - 16 week belly shot and posting it because of my crappy face!
Mommy2Isabella replied: I have bad skin all the time. My face acutally just started to look good when I got PG.
I know you aren't suppossed to use an ACNE medications or anything during pregnancy. However, if it doesn't contain Salysilic< SP acid, I belive it is FINE!
What worked for me before pregnancy, I can't use during pregnancy so ... Im not sure what to tell you ... SORRY!
CantWait replied: Don't use any acne medications, they actually can do more damage to your skin because of all the alcohol. They leave your skin dry and red, after extended use it'll peal and burn. Not to mention it robs your skin of needed moisture.
I use Spectro Gel (the unscented, smells funky, but it's pretty good), or Noxema, good old fashioned water works well also. Wash with warm and rinse with cool.
luvmykids replied: I know someone asked about Proactive during PG but I don't remember what the outcome was ... it's the best as far as I'm concerned for problem skin. But some of the "acne" lines have been recreated and are less harsh. My dermatologist swears by Cetaphil for most troubled skin.
Jackie012007 replied: haha actually Cetaphil was what I was using! It doesn't seem to do much for me, I feel like my face belongs in Texas in the oil fields lol. DF got me Clearasil, he had acne in high school and told me it was what he used and it worked great... but it has that salicyclic whatchamadoodle in it... is it a no no? Gosh I feel so stupid!
Maddie&EthansMom replied: I got acne when I was pg with our son and nothing really helped prevent it. Sorry. I know it sucks
PrairieMom replied: can't use proactive with pregnancy, but you can use it while nursing. I just started it the day Alexis was born, and so far I am pleased with the results
Jackie012007 replied: no Proactive eh? My nest friend had total success with it and I was thinking about it... ohhhh well. Gonna head to walmart and scope the aisles for some face stuff, and go get batteries for my camera because WOW I'm 16 weeks today!!! I dunno, it seems like a milestone to me . This has been going by so slowwwww, now I get to call the doc and make my BIG u/s appointment monday!!!
so I'll be home later and hoepfully have a nice pic of my HUGE gut and my nasty broken out face for everyone!!
Mommy2Isabella replied: Proactive is what I used before pregnancy, but it has salsylic acid in it . Which is a no no trust me I was upset but for some reason I had good pregnancy skin ... I use face wash from my business now, my face has started to break out now towards the end of my pregnancy.
Hope you find something that works for you!
paradisemommy replied: that's how i knew i was having a boy..not sure if it's a hawaiian thing or what but they say if your face comes all ugly with zits and stuff, it's a boy - when it's nice and clear and you look like you're glowing, it's a girl..sure enough that was me to a tee with both my kids..boy and girl..don't think you'll find anything to clear it up until you have him because of all the hormones and changes in your body (if it's a him.. )...just another thing us mommies have to endure..lol
MomToJade&Jordan replied: I would go get the Noxema like Marie suggested. I used to use that when I broke out as a teen. Plus I've always liked the cooling sensation it makes. I didn't break out with either of my children (Both girls, must be true Tammy...LOL!). Good luck!
Jackie012007 replied: wouldn't DF be thrilled to death! You know, I have the extra nasty dark fast-growing body hair to go with the whole signs of having a boy oh my!
luvmykids replied: I think it's true, I broke out terribly with the twins and with Macie had the best skin I've had since I was a teen.
~Roo'sMama~ replied: I'm like Jessica ~ I always have bad skin except for when I'm pg. I get monthly breakouts around the time I ovulate. With Andrew my face was the clearest it had been since before puberty. With this baby it's not as clear but it's probably because I have been too lazy about washing it and will sometimes go a couple days.
MyBlueEyedBabies replied: I was told Proactive was fine to use during pregnancy. My skin goes through phases of bad and okay I was actually about to order the Proactive a few months ago but my face cleared up and I don't think I have even had a spot since then
MamaBear replied: My chin is really breaking out this time around, it's driving me nuts!!!
mommyX2.5 replied: Oh Gosh Me too! I always have clear skin and im getting tons of pimples! I dont know what to do besides for extra washing. I dont want to use acne facewashes, Its so frustrating!
A&A'smommy replied: just wondering if you found something to help yet?
Jackie012007 replied: well, since I don't have an OBGYN right now ( that is another entirely screwed up story ) I went to my parent yesterday and my mom mentioned that I should just ask my regular doctor... so I did and she said that proactiv is okay to use during pregnancy... I guess there are differing opinions on the issue of using salisyclic acid during pregnancy but she has never seen literature to support the fact that it is highly dangerous to the fetus... so we sprung and ordered it. Hopefully it helps, my face is getting worse (and more painful ) day by day!!
luvmykids replied: It will, it will, it will. I'm not encouraging use during pg but whenever you choose to use it, I promise it will work and you will LOVE it!
