Anyone buy the Little Touch LeapPad?

MommyToAshley wrote: I had planned to buy this for Ashley but then I read some of the reviews and now I am not sure if I want to get it for her or not.

Anyone else buy it? Do your kids like it?

Little Touch LeapPad

mummy2girls replied: This may not help but i thought i would share though in case...

Jennas aunt had gotten jenna and her daughetr that leapfrog for christmas. But she also picked up the leapfrog table for babies also. She openend both and let her dd play with both to see which one she likes the best and she couldnt care less for the one your talking about but she LOVED the table one.

paradisemommy replied: i bought one for taven online with 2 books and have been debating whether to keep it or return it...it looks really cute..but at least with the other ones they have a lot of books and stuff...the little touch one hardly has any books... mad.gif

natjasem replied: Emma got one for her birthday, but she's not quite interested yet, but I'm sure she will be in the future. Right now, it's too difficult for her to touch hard enough for the Leap Pad to respond. You really have to push fairly hard to get it to work. Also, the on/off button and the volume button are on the front of it, so she loves to turn it off or turn it up.

MommyToAshley replied:
These are exactly the same complaints I read about. I might hold off on buying it for her then.

Kaitlin'smom replied: I was gonna wait until Kaitlin is older to buy the books for her. I do knwo she is geting the table for christmas though. It looks like fun!

aspenblue1 replied: I was going to wait until Isabella was older to get that for her. I don't think she would be interested in it now.

Jamison'smama replied: Whoops--we bought it--and 3 books. Of course now I am re-thinking after reading all of this.

mummy2girls replied:
It looks alot of fun...jenna gets hers at christmas from her daddy...lets hope she likes it. her cousin just LOVES it!!!!!

3_call_me_mama replied: Cameron has one and Loves it! He is 13 months old, the reason everyone seems so upset with the toyis that they are expecting that their child at 1-2 years of age are going to be able to use it by themselves. If they read what the toy is intended for then the would not be disappointed, when they were using it. It is not intended to replace reading to your child, or to babysit them. Cameron uses it with us and loves the time that we spend using it together. People also need to remember that the toy is rated ages 6-36 months. just like any other toy that is rated for that wide age range, development levels vary greatly and do not always match up with the age of the child. Alsothere are different uses for each age in the age range. obviously a 6 month old is not going to use it the same way a 3 year old will.
I also think that people have very high expectations for these products because they have caught on like a craze and everyone expects that their child will suddenly know how to read or say their ABC's because of a product. This does not happen overnight. We have several of the leap products and are not thrilled with some of them but others we really love. The table for example was a waste of money for us. Our son used it for about 3 weeks and then lost interest because the book only turns one page and the other things like the spinners were not interesting to him anymore. He is much more into the leap pads and the cause and effect because that is the development where he is. Yet we have a friend who's son is two weeks older than ours and their son loves his table. He is just starting to pull up and cruise so he uses it for that and is just starting to notice the spinners and things. So for his development it is great. Just my 2 cents!

mckayleesmom replied: No, but I just got Mckaylee the Tad the toad from leapfrog for xmas.

MomofTay&Sam replied: Sammy has the table and loves it! We were thinking about the 18month one for Christmas but might wait now. LOL

jem0622 replied: Gabe has something unrelated...the Microsoft Intellitable. He LOVES it. He does have the frog from the same company with the buttons on the bib that play/light up/etc. He enjoys it.

I have a My First LeapPad for my eldest (4 next month) and he enjoys that. I am tempted to get him the one that is LeapPad Plus Writing b/c he is starting to practice tracing letters and all. And then we'd have the other one for Gabe.

We also have the Fisher Price table (maybe $25 @ Target, I think) and that is lots of fun for Gabe too.

coasterqueen replied: We were going to buy it for Kylie but after finding out that it didn't have much books, we decided to wait and get her the next one up when she is old enough smile.gif

Kaitlin'smom replied:
grandma bougth hers in september! I just hopes she remebers to bring it! LOL

MommyToAshley replied: Thanks for all the feedback. I think I will wait on the Little Touch LeapPad. It will be interesting to hear what you think of it after Christmas, I may be changing my mind. smile.gif

Ashley has a lot of the Leapfrog toys. She likes the Baby Tad, but only pushes the button once or twice and then is off to something else. Same with the piano and the ABC ball. She wasn't too excited about the table, she only played with the table for a few minutes and then lost interest so I am afraid the LeapPad would be the same way.

She likes the oddest things... flash cards, paper, anythign with a zipper, this little plastic egg, her stacking cups, books, puzzles, and then anything she shouldn't have. rolling_smile.gif

Kaitlin'smom replied:
LOL so for christmas just wrap up paper for her! LOL I thought about doing this for Kaitlin.......I have picture of DH when he was little playing with big epmly boxes, his gradmother tell me he would play for hours with it!
