Any mechanics out there?

So I just took Madison to daycare and I was going to come back home to get ready for school - I pull in the driveway, put the car in park, turn the car off and it starts drifting down - I slammed on the brakes and they aren't working, so I pulled the E-Brake, its not even keeping the car steady - I walked over to my neighbors house and stole some big stones she has in her garden to chalk the wheels so they can't move. When I turn the ignition, the radio will turn on but there is NO power going to the engine what-so-ever. I had to call to get it towed, but I have a midterm in a couple hours and I'm soo broke so I'd be willing to try any suggestions anyone has before the tow truck gets here.

I'm thinking I might not have had the car fully in park before I shut it off, but you would think that I could turn the car back once I put it in park?!

Any help would be great!

Momof3inMe replied: My DH is a mechanic when you turn the key is it clicking? He said if it is it's the starter.

ohhh my friend has one of those and she has recently started having problems with it!

boyohboyohboy replied: maybe its the battery? my van did something like that, where all that worked was the radio, but it wouldnt turn over..dead...and it was the battery.

luvmykids replied: I wonder if it could be something with the electrical system, like a chip? The fact that the brakes don't seem to be working makes me wonder...but even then the emergency brake should have worked. Weird! I hope it's nothing major!

TheOaf66 replied: more than likely the transmission linkage has not totally engaged you into park.

I assume this is an automatic, the first thing I would do is shift it all the way down into 1'st (the furthest down you can shift) with your foot on the brake and then shift it all the way back into park and see if that works. Hope it worked out

Ya the tow truck driver tried that right before he loaded me up... No luck

I have ground effects on the front of my car, which were ripped off when they were loading it onto the flat bed because of the tow truck driver wasn't paying attention, Do they pay for that or am I SOL?

They should pay for it. I would make sure you call the company and tell them what happened.

my other thought was that the slug pack in the starter is going out and it is just not turning the starter motor....sure sounds like a linkage problem though since your car started to roll back...let me know what they find out
