Any beanie baby experts out there? - got a question
coasterqueen wrote: Another question That ebay posting about that guy selling his ex's beanies, got me thinking. LOL. DH has been harping me for some time now to get rid of the ones I've collected and I'm actually ready to get rid of them, too. They are taking up closet space that I could use.
So, are there any experts out there on these things to help me figure out what I should price them for on ebay? I'll list what I have if there are.
Maddie&EthansMom replied: I don't blame you for wanting to sell them after seeing that! I wish I had a few myself to sell on there! LOL! I don't know anything about them, but check ebay and maybe you can link the pricey ones to the ones that are considered most valuable? Or maybe there is a website of the ones that are retired. How many do you have? Just curious.
Good luck!
MomToJade&Jordan replied: The first thing you might want to dop is go to www.Ty.com. That is the official site and has a listing of all the retired ones. I don't know if they have a price guide on there. To help you with some of the prices you might want to do a search on ebay of the ones you're planning to sell. You could also do a search on Google for a beanie pricing guide. I hope this helps.
coasterqueen replied: I have 24 regular beanie babies and almost one set of the teenie beanies from 1998, 1 full set from 1999 and 1/2 set for 2000. And I have 4 teenie beanie bears.
All of mine are retired, at least the reg. beanies are. Most priced at $7 low end and at $10 high end. I have a few that are in the $18 to $40 range. I also checked out EBAY and it seems like they are not going for as much as they are actually worth. On high end all my reg. beanies are worth $223 and on low end are worth $300. I want to get at least what I paid for and that was about $160.
I would LOVE to get what that guy got his for, lol, but no hope here. I thought about keeping them and passing them on to Kylie, but they are more of a hassle trying to keep them in great condition than anything. And Dh thinks they won't be worth anything by then. Who knows.
I don't even know why I got involved with buying them. I guess everyone else was, so I did, lol. Oh well.
I guess I will get them "prepared" and photographed and just try to sell them on EBAY for my minimum and see how they sell. Can't hurt, right
jem0622 replied: Definitely find out the value before proceeding. Also, check to see how other auctioneers are faring in their beenie baby sales. They are not (to my knowledge) considered to be as valuable or sought after as they once were. Hope it is profitable for you though! You want to try and recoup at least the expense and even above and beyond that.

Kaitlin'smom replied: yep i agree do some research first. I hope you can sell them at a good price!
Maddie&EthansMom replied:
You never know with Ebay. People get so caught up in the bidding that they aren't really realizing how much they are spending. That is what is so awesome about auctions. Try it and let us know. It is definetly worth it. Even if you make $160.
MommyToAshley replied: "I know nothing about those stupid things" so maybe I should sell them for you.
Seriously, I want to wish you luck and I hope you make a good profit!
chloe&tysmommy replied: good luck with selling the beanies I would keep a couple back for awhile and who knows, they might be worth a lot later on....maybe I'm just weird
coasterqueen replied: Why are you weird? LOL. Do you know something I don't know? LOL. They don't seem to be selling on EBAY for what I have seen they are worth anyways, so I probably will keep ahold of them. I at least want what I paid for them and so far they are selling for less out there.
MomofTay&Sam replied: My 11 year old son has almost 100 beanies with tags. He started collecting them about 4 years ago. He would win big in ebay but I am so not telling him about it! Good Luck selling yours.
chloe&tysmommy replied: LOL no really....I don't know anything about beanies but if you have some that you can't buy anymore, I think I would hang onto them....who knows? KWIM?
Good Luck to you!!!
amynicole21 replied: There are a bunch of sites out there that give estimates of worth. Just do a google search and compare different sites to get an average. Good luck
