Another Walmart - VENT

Celestrina replied: They like to be mean to you. They saw you coming and closed the other registers. I only found this out because they like to do the same thing to me.
Hillbilly Housewife replied: I think there's some kind of law stating that they (or any other large walmart-type stores) can't have more than 5 registers open after 5pm - something about being fair to the regular grocery stores... or something like that. I read that somewhere.
Braydensmommy replied: They are too cheap to pay to have more cashiers on hand because they might be slow. Plus, people are always calling in and there is always a register that is broken.

Are you serious??? Walmart- concerned about the well being of their competition??? BWAHAHAAAA!!!!!!
C&K*s Mommie replied:
Thinking the same thing. You cannot be serious.... right?
Jackie012007 replied: I concur! I am a two-time ex-walmart employee... see they start out with scheduling like 25 cashiers but you get the usual 5 or 6 that call in on a regular basis (yet they never get fired??)... then there is the whole not wanting to pay cashiers ("cutting overtime/payroll") so they send a few home really early... then there is almost always a register or two that are defunct that they are too cheap to fix... thus you get 5 or 6 registers open and lines a friggen mile long!
HINT: If you have like 15 items or less and nothing that has to be weighed, you can usually go to jewelry or electronics and they will usually cash you out!
C&K*s Mommie replied: Well that would explain it, Jackie. Thanks!
They have no excuse now about the defunct registers now at some of the area Wal-marts. They are all new.
I usually just jump in a line, no matter how long. That is usually the only time I can get to read the magazines in the checkouts, I am too cheap to pay for something I will only read one time, and I can get the same story off the internet.
Jackie012007 replied: I thought I was the only one! I do that too... DF hates it because I always pick like the longest line then grab a rag and read as fast as I can hahahaha
Brias3 replied: Or for that matter, make 20 of them the "self-checkout" ones. Convenient for some but in terms of standing in line behind someone who has not a clue how to operate the thing, its just as bad as a regular line. Grrr....I just hate Walmart IN GENERAL sometimes
Halo42101 replied: Theron & I also have a secret too of going through the Garden Center to check out with a few groceries in hand.
martzfam27 replied: I know what you mean! It reminds me of going to the MVD
Nina J replied: It's so annoying. I hate it at any shop when there is a big line at the registers, the people who are working there seem to move really slowly
Kirstenmumof3 replied: Our store is like that too! It's awful! They even removed some of the registers, I never would have noticed if DH hadn't pointed out the markings on the floor were the registers used to be. It never used to be this way, until they switched Managers. Now it's just awful, I hate shopping there!

Boo&BugsMom replied: I was a Walmart employee for 6 years, and Troy use to be one as well a long time ago. Like Jackie said, they schedule a lot, but many times, especially the younger ones like teenagers (no offense, but work ethic just isn't all there when you are young many times), call in sick often. Then they try to call people from the floor and they don't always come up. The organization of it all is just messed up, especially when you have people who don't put work as a priority. It's annoying, nonetheless.
BAC'sMom replied:
Wow, I am impressed they only open 2 registers @ our store.
luvmykids replied: Ours too, no matter what time of day. AND even on big holiday weekends, you may be lucky to hit it when there are three open
BAC'sMom replied:
I know exactly what you mean! It drives me CRAZY !
