American Idol Conspiracy.. - Crazy!!!!!
AshleyRose wrote: My husband and I were thinking about it the other day and we think that American Idol is fake.
Think about it...
EVERY person on there appeals to a certain "group" of the USA. It almost targets every group..
Carrie Underwood- white girl: typical country white girl appeals to white girls and country people
Bo Bice- white guy: older and sings mostly alternative got the long hair and everything and appeals to people who like alternative, appeals to older people and people who would fit into his crowd
Constantine Maroulis- white guy: older as well but sings and derives from a harder rock band than Bo. Cute as hell as well so appeals to girls. So girls and hard rockers are interested in him.
Anthony Fedorov- white guy: young more into pop music, goody goody. just a regular white boy so appeals to people who like pop and that crowd of just regular guys.
Scott Savol- white guy: Scott is more hmm.. "gangster"?? like a hip hopish white guy. So it appeals to that crowd of white guys who are hip hoppy.. LOL
Vonzell Solomon- african american girl: appeals to the african american community of course. so thats covered
So EACH of these contestants are targeting a certain crowd. NONE are alike what-so-ever. Hence, the theory of the american idol conspiracy. It is all for targeting lots of groups to get the show ratings up and lots of viewers!
What do you think??
beckamouse replied: hmmmm....i never thought about that...I knew something was off about that show
jcc64 replied: I don't think it's a conspiracy or fake. I think it's very carefully planned marketing and demographics designed to appeal to the broadest cross section of the American viewing public. Obviously it's working. They had a bazillion people try out all over the country,it can't be that difficult to find the right "mix". Btw, am I the only woman in America that DOESN'T think Constantine is cute?! He's creepy, smarmy, and badly in need of some shampoo. ECk!
mammag replied: No, I think there are a couple of us on this board who think the same. I've been saying that from day one. He really makes me feel sick to my stomach. If I close my eyes sometimes he has a good voice. Sometimes.
I don't know about the whole conspiracy thing. I do think that they have certain ones they like and they try to influence our votes accordingly but then there are times when you can tell they were upset about who got voted out (like the black girl with short hair last season, can't remember her name but she was my favorite).
I'm not too thrilled with any of the remaining contetstants this year though right now I'm kind of rooting for Vonzell.
gr33n3y3z replied: I agree with both Jeannes
MommyToAshley replied: I agree. I am sure the producers/judges take the demographics into consideration when they narrow down the choices. It would be a pretty boring show if everyone had the same style and appealed to the same demographics.
With that said, I don't have a lot of faith in the voting. Since you can vote more than once for the same person, a fan that is a little computer savy can heavily influence the vote.
ediep replied: well, I just watched it so i won't spoil anything, but I do think Constintine is sort of cute and I think his voice is ok. I DO NOT like Anthony or Scott at all.
IF Constantine or Bo wins, I may consider buying their CD, if anyone else wins, I wouldn't waste my money
AshleyRose replied: i just watched it too and what a surprise
JessC replied: Yeah definitly something weird with that show, I am always thinking something bad is going to happen. I agree, Constintine is creepy!!!
jcc64 replied: yeah, I'm thinking Scott has some pretty tech savvy friends, Dee Dee. How else to explain it? Anthony's got the sympathy/pre-pubescent vote, bc god knows he wouldn't get past a Holiday Inn lizard lounge act otherwise.
DansMom replied: I agree that the contestants are chosen to be varied demographically and appeal to different groups, and not chosen by who is the best singer (think about it---thousands and thousands of singers, and this is the cream of the crop?). One of my employees went to the tryouts in Cleveland with a friend and I got to hear an inside view of what it was like. There is a round of eliminations even before Randy, Paula and Simon get there to hear people---lots of people are eliminated without getting even that far, and yet they let some real wackos through for the entertainment value.
It did cause me pause last night, however, when the loser of the competition said that he would miss the "cast", referring to the other contestants. Hmmm. I think he was just grasping for words, but it was a strange word choice, KWIM?
Kaitlin'smom replied: thats due to him being in theatre.....I suspect
My2Beauties replied: I heard that Dan's mom, about the first round of tryouts before even getting into Randy and Paula and Simon! I think it's wrong of them to exploit these people in such a way I mean come on now, why put someone like William Hung from last season through - other than for laughs!
