Alyssa update

A&A'smommy wrote: We went to the ENT today because well she needed to anyway but when we signed up for kindergarden she failed her hearing test in her left ear sleep.gif she just KEEPS fluid in her ears so we decided today to get her tonsils and adenoids removed AND she is getting another set of tubes which is good it should help. Her tonsils are being removed because they have always been fairly large well they have finally grown larger enough that they pretty much do touch all the time I don't know how she eats anything. Her throat hurts pretty often and she snores like a man (she has ALWAYS snored loudly). I'm excited about her being better but nervous about her going under anesthesia she comes out of it pretty rough and really I just don't like it!!

Autumn is next for all this ENT stuff at her one year I'm going to get her referred to Alyssa's ENT and get everything set up for her getting tubes.. I really did want to go the chiropractor route but it just doesn't seem like the best idea for her with all of our family history (my brother got tubes again last year and he still has major hearing loss) everyone on both sides of our family (jeremiahs and mine) have all these same issues and it tends to run in the family.

BTW I'm sorry for the typos but I'm too tired to check over it..its been a LONG weekend.

CantWait replied: Sounds like you guys are going the best route. Alyssa will be in my thoughts for surgery, hope all goes well. hug.gif

punkeemunkee'smom replied: We will be praying for her! hug.gif I have a friend whose son had his adnoids and tonsils out and was playing hockey with his little brother that afternoon in their bedroom! laugh.gif Kids are so resilant! hug.gif She will do great! hug.gif

mckayleesmom replied: I had my adnoids out as a child and it wasn't a biggy, but as a mommy I can see your concern. Having them taken out ill improve her hearing I'm sure. My hearing was almost completely gone when they finally realized what was causing it. I remember having a slight sore throat for a couple days, but otherwise I was fine. I hope she feels better soon.

mummy2girls replied: Jenna had hers tonsils and adenoids removed at age 4:( (((HUGS))) in the long run it will be best for her!!!

coasterqueen replied: Well...Megan might be right behind her. happy.gif rolleyes.gif She's already had her adenoids out, but the tonsils just keep causing her problems. Both my girls are seeing an ENT because they keep getting fluid in their ears. Weird.

Hope it goes well. The anesthesia - no biggie, but the recovery - well everyone says kids bounce back quickly but not ALL kids do. Megan was a terrible mess. Hopefully Alyssa will recover smoothly and be feeling better when it's all over with. hug.gif hug.gif

coasterqueen replied: oops, double post.

~Roo'sMama~ replied: hug.gif hug.gif I'd be nervous too but I'm sure everything will go fine! KUP hug.gif

Danalana replied: Awww, I'm sure she will be fine and will feel so much better afterwards! I know it's a little scary, though hug.gif

luvmykids replied: I hope she feels much, much better when all is said and done! hug.gif hug.gif

A&A'smommy replied:
I'm telling you MAKE them stay on top of that Alyssa might have hearing loss because of it, and my brother does. hug.gif hug.gif

I'm not real worried I'm more excited than anything because this has been such a LONG drawn out process we have been waiting to have those NASTY tonsils removed since she was two. They are HUGE omg its so gross and they cause her SOO many problems!!

Thanks girls for the support love2.gif

coasterqueen replied:
We definitely are making them watch the girls.

Megan's tonsils are huge too. They wouldn't take them out when they took her adenoids out, though, but just taking out the adenoids took away the terrible snoring and breathing issues. Now she only has trouble w/her tonsils when she gets sick. Then she had trouble breathing and swallowing because they swell so much they touch. dry.gif So we did the steroid treatment and that didn't make them shrink at all. The ENT said this last time we are still going to wait, unless she starts having more breathing issues.

Good luck and please keep us posted. We'll be thinking about you all. hug.gif hug.gif

Kaitlin'smom replied: hug.gif sounds like this a good thing for her.
