Allie's birthday cake

~Roo'sMama~ wrote: I made an Elmo cake for Allie's birthday party, and I was pretty happy with the way it turned out. It was so much fun to make too, even though I had a horrible migraine the whole time I was decorating it. I'd like to make another one, without the headache, so I can enjoy it more.
Here's some pictures of it, plus a couple of Allie at her birthday party yesterday.

The cake ~ I really had to squeeze in the y in Birthday... you can't really see it in the picture.


I made some cupcakes too with the leftover cake mix, and they didn't turn out very good. The kids didn't mind though!

cake time! the frosting cracked in a few places from moving it after it was set. next time I think I'll double up on the cake board or something!

eating cake ~ I was going to give her a piece of Elmo, but as I was trying to decide where to start cutting it, Allie leaned forward and took a bite out of the corner of the cake. So I had to give her a corner piece. When she was almost done with it she asked for the Elmo part so I did give her a little sliver of it.

It was pretty funny. She had been just sitting there so sweet and patient, and then just all of a sudden decided she was never going to get any cake if she didn't help herself.

Thanks everyone for the kind words! Of course I think Allie is beautiful too. She's changing so much and get so much bigger and older looking, but sometimes I can still see that little baby face too and I can't decide which I like better.
