All Moved! - Question for you guys too
kit_kats_mom wrote: Whew! That was nuts.
We've unpacked most of the boxes and are now to the organizing & buying stage.
My question is, when you guys have sold a house, did you clean pretty well before the closing? I left my house spotless...vaccumed the baseboards, cleaned the floors, dusted the fans, scrubbed the tubs etc. The house we bought was left filthy! I am such a neat freak that we called in a maid service before anyone could bring anything into the house. It was NASTY!!! Hair in the tubs...just gross! I still need to have the carpets cleaned. LOL Anyway, I think that is just rude. Maybe I'm wrong though. Let me know what you guys have done in the past...I'm just curious.
Thank God that my mom has been helping since Tuesday because Katherine got sick day before yesterday. She's been running a fever for two days, has had diarreah for about a week and threw up yesterday morning. If it weren't for my mom, we would have nothing done because she has just wanted to be held. . She's terribly excited about her room and playroom though. she keeps running between the two saying "be-be's room" and "Payroom" LOL
We are loving the house. The small pond out back has a ton of wildlife. Just this morning, when I was having my coffee on the lani, I saw an 8' alligator sunning himself on the opposite bank, a smaller one (maybe 4 feet) at the waters edge of our back yard, a crane wading and a big giant hawk. It's cool! I love nature.
Just thought I'd pop in and say HI! I'm going to have to catch up on the board later this week. I hope all is well with everyone...hugs!!!
amynicole21 replied: Wow! That was quick Can't believe you are mostly unpacked and everything! Good for you Sorry to hear that K has been sick - I hope she's feeling better soon!
We've never sold a house, but when we bought this one it was in really good shape when we moved in. We still cleaned the heck out of it, but that's just because I'm a germ freak That is so disgusting that there was still hair in the tub Good thinking bringing in a maid service before you brought anything in. It was probably easier to get all of the nasties out that way.
I was out closer to your neck of the woods today (Lakeland) at a kids day at a Quiznos my friends own. There was a woman there with a baby that looked a lot like K, and the woman looked a little like you - she had dark hair, but it was really short. I kept staring at them, trying to figure out if it was you guys or not She probably thought I was a psycho
Can't believe there are gators in your lake! They really freak me out... guess you won't be swimming in there! Not that anyone in their right mind swims in a lake in FL
kimberley replied: glad to hear you are almost settled in! that must be a relief. sorry to hear K was sick. i hope she is better soon.
the last place i left, i did minimal cleaning because he was renovating the whole place anyways, otherwise i would have. it was empty for a year after i left. and when we moved in here.... my goodness, you would have puked! it was horrible! filth everywhere.. the worst being the kitchen. some people are just pigs.
MommyToAshley replied: WOW -- you must be really organized to have moved and unpacked that quickly! WTG!
This was our first house, so I haven't sold one. I would clean it thoroughly though if I did sell it. When we moved in this one, it didn't look as clean as it did when we toured it before we bought it. But, we thoroughly cleaned it before moving in.
I am sorry K has been sick, give her some hugs from Ashley and myself. When you get a chance, you'll have to update us with some pictures of K in her new playroom.
I like nature too, but I don't think I would be as excited about the gators as you are.
It was great hearing from you. We've missed you!
Jamison'smama replied: Good question about cleaning after move-out. Since our home is on the market I will have to decide that soon. I think I will do a basic cleaning--I am keeping it pretty darn clean just for the showings. I am probably just going to clean out the toilets, tub and sinks then wipe everything else down. I just know that no matter how clean a house appears, I would clean it again anyway so I am not going to do too much. I am sure the people who bought your home really appreciated it! Maybe you will be my inspiration
Congratulations on getting everything finished and hugs to poor K!!
MomToJade&Jordan replied: I'm glad that you are well on your way to getting settled. That is really nasty that they didn't even think to clean the hair out of the tubs. I would have made sure the house was clean for the next tenant. It's the nice thing to do KWIM. The contracters here on base come in and do a thorough cleaning before the next family moves in. I will probably do some major scrubbing anyway. I don't know the thought of having to clean the house while I am moving in doesn't appeal to me. The maid service was a great idea.
I'm sorry that K is feeling well. I hope that she starts to feel better soon. WTG Grandma for being there to help. I wish I could have my Mom here at times. That is why we are trying to get a base closer to home next time.
Gators in the pond you say? Got to love Florida. I am going to have to agree with Amy in saying no one in their right mind would swim in a lake in FL. Cause if the Gators don't get you there is always those unseen bacteria that will get you. Sorry guys if that was TMI. Just reading about all of that FL wildlife has gotten me homesick.
I am glad that you like your new home and that K is liking her new room and playroom. Take your time getting settled in. We will be here when you are able to come back.
ediep replied: wow!! Congrats on getting in and setteled so quickly! We sure have missed you around here. I hope you are trying to take it easy...between the moving, cleaning, unpacking, sick child, and preggo - you must be exhausted!!
My house was left in decent shape when we moved in, but the prev owners had dogs and the carpets still had dog hair in them. I scrubbed everything before we unpacked. If I was selling I would make sure the house was spotless when we left.
Stay out of those ponds!! Gators sound so scary!
kit_kats_mom replied: ROFL...you forgot about the water moccasins.
ctymom replied: oh wow... that is really bad! I couldnt leave a house like that for a new family to move in. Just plain rude! I personally would have set it up for them to pay the bill for the maid service. I'm sure it wasnt in the contract that you would have to deep clean the house before you could move in.

coasterqueen replied: WOw that's great you are moved in an already unpacked!!! Glad your mom was there to help out with poor K. Hope she's feeling better now or will be real soon.
Alligators huh? That would freak me out!!!! I LOVE wildlife, but I don't know about alligators near for Kylie to go after, lol.
We've only lived in 2 homes: one Dh's grandpa's that we cleaned and the one we've built so I really can't answer your question. But I've lived in a ton of apartments, lol. So I'd do the same with a house that I do in an apartment I'd clean it VERY WELL. Just my nature .
Take care of yourself and hope to see you on here more soon.
momof2girls replied: When we moved into our first house the people had left it a mess so we cleaned for a few days b4 moving in.... When we sold that house, it was spotless, because I think it would have been rude to do that to someone. The people even told the realtor to thank us, all they had to do was move in!
I like seeing wildlife too as long as its far enough away!!!
DixieDarlin replied: When we moved out of our apartment in Boise, I left it spotless. I even made sure that the oven was clean lol. When we moved out of our first house and bought this one, it wasn't as clean as the apartment but it was still clean. I didn't have time to get it as clean as I would have liked because I was too busy cleaning this one. We bought this one from the owner directly. It wasn't through a real estate company and it was FILTHY! The entire house reeked or cat urine and the carpet was stained so bad that we had to rip it out and replace it. The odor probably would have never came out anyway. And the bath tub...OMG! These people were far from clean, obviously. We had to end up buying industrial strength cleaner just to get the tub clean! When we bought it, we knew it was going to take some major cleaning but we didn't know it was this bad until we got in here and started getting it done!
MomToJade&Jordan replied: Oh yeah. I forgot those. These are also the reasons why you want to screen-in your pool.
A&A'smommy replied: YAY welcome back! Your yard sounds wonderful, WOW gators that is freaky but we have them here too, maybe not quite as many but we do have them . I am sorry about your house I can't believe how rude they were! I would definitly clean my house before we sold it!
DansMom replied: I left my condo spotless when we moved out, and the house I bought was superficially clean (carpet looked good, for example), but there were years of grime and grunge around the stove and in the bathroom tile, stuff like that. The insides of the cupboards were bad too---I scrubbed them down and laid down new contact paper before putting anything away.
I hope Katherine feels better soon! Congrats on the move!
Kaitlin'smom replied: Well this to is our first home and they left it pretty clean, but like all of you I cleaned it before we moved in, even had more carpets cleaned. I to would at least leave it like I got it pretty clean but since I will have to clean a new home I dont think I would go into a lot of detail work, might even hire someone to clean it for me
Glad to hear from you, sounds like things are going great. Sorry K was sick, but glad your mom has been a big help!
Hope K feels better soon
and how are you feeling?
jdkjd replied: We had our cleaning guy do our old house the day before we moved out. I don't think we got the carpets cleaned but I think we had done it a couple months before.
I can't believe that they just left it crappy. Ugh.
I hope K's feeling better and you are getting your bearings...
Much love!
