Alarm Systems

cameragirl21 replied: I believe it can only be wired through your phone line so if you have one, you're good to go, I think. The cost varies by the company, here in Miami, installation is anywhere from free to 99 dollars and then the monthly rates are around 30 dollars a month.
If I were you, I'd put up a sign on your gate that says you own 40 guns and you don't call 911...I think it would be far more effective and cheaper. Remember that a phone wired alarm can easily be disabled by cutting the phone line.
Most people's phone boxes where the line can be cut are outside the house.

thanks and you live in the same state as me so who would you recommend me calling? Also there is a sign that says "Home protected by Ruger" (brand of gun) Dh loves it. But I want one that says we dont call 911 LOL.

DVFlyer replied: Many companies will install the alarm for free if you sign a monitoring agreement. Might be $30/ month or so, but the alarm and install will be free.

Protection One, ADT are two out here on the west coast... not sure about where you are.

FWIW- Most burglars will walk away if they see/ hear a dog. I've heard in some cases, just having a dog bowl and dog toy on the front porch is enough to deter them.

redchief replied: As said before, you can have an alarm system installed in a trailer. Like DV suggested, you should do your homework before you decide on a system. Many of the companies that offer the low priced or free systems make money by tying you up into a contract that keeps you with the company for a long period of time. On top of that, you won't own the installation. As suggested in the link posted by DV, check out some licensed installation companies and ask up front what kind of service contract you should expect.

BTW, cutting a telephone line linked to a central station monitoring site triggers a burglary call to the local police department dispatch center.

Yea I knew that, I would make sure I have the satalite back up. We have it here at work and I want the 2 way communicator. However dh doesnt know that he wants to dump that kind of money into a trailer when we are going to build our house eventually.

boyohboyohboy replied: lisa, in the mean time, if you wanted to put something on the kids windows..we got these tiny little boxes that stick on the doors and windows that people with kids who have autism and down syndrom use for their kids that try to get out when parents are asleep. we got them at lowes, for like $11 for a two pack..
they are tiny and you stick them on and when the door or window is opened and the bar seperated from the box a really loud alarm goes off and cant be stopped until the door or window is set back in place..
we have them on all our doors because jake kept sneaking around.

I have these on all my doors because Evan likes to go out and ride his 4-wheeler whenever he feels like it. They are REALLY loud and when they die you just replace the battery. So easy and nice.

I used to have a motion sensor so I knew when someone was coming up my driveway but the darn chickens were too curious and kept setting it off and it drove me nuts. They sell those at Wal-Mart also and are pretty cheap and work well.

BTW, I have a sign that says :If you can read this sign the 12 gauge is already pointed at your head.:

I already have those. I had one fall off in the middle of the night. OMG. DH went nuts running out the bedroom into her room in his boxers. Checking things and Lexi was just laying there sound asleep, the dog was going nuts though.
