Ah! Our winter storm warning was cancelled - It's now a BLIZZARD warning.
coasterqueen wrote: I just looked and they canceled our winter storm warning and made it a Blizzard warning for tonight/tomorrow. I don't think I've ever seen a blizzard warning around here.
kimberley replied: omg, stay safe and keep us posted.
MyLuvBugs replied: HA HA!! You're going to get all the snow we're getting right now. Be afraid. Be very afraid. lol It's not that bad, but the wind with the light weighted snow is the killer. That's why they closed the I-80. The ground blizzards b/c of the wind. But when the wind isn't blowing, it's really pretty with big fat flakes.
luvmykids replied: Where do you live again? Hope it blows over quickly and everyone is safe and sound!
C&K*s Mommie replied: please be safe Karen.
My2Beauties replied: Oh no Karen that stinks. When they said last night on the news we were maybe going to get snow this week, I was like because just the other day it was 60 degrees here. I hope it blows over you and doesn't affect you guys. That really stinks. Keep us updated. But if it does get a little bad, I hope your work lets you guys stay home.
coasterqueen replied: Well see for us living in the country we ALWAYS have to deal with blowing snow and road closings, crud like that. But we've never had an actual blizzard warning in our area so that kinda makes me freak out. Maybe I should go borrow a 4-wheeler from my dad just in case we get stuck on our road. Our road gets blown over so much we either can't get down it OR we have to time it just right to follow the plow that only comes down in once in the morning and once at night when it snows. BUT if we have ice which they are calling for the plows won't even go down our roads - they wouldn't make it up the hills.
MyLuvBugs replied: Yeah. That's how my folks are. Mom said the town is just dead. They have 1 plow that the town Cop opperates, and he said he's not going to clear the roads until it's over. how dumb is that? So, they're stuck at home to go stir crazy for a few days. The thing that you should really worry about is the electricity going out. Stock up on candles, and if you can...get a small generator just in case. Or borrow one. and get a bag of de-icer or salt for your drive and sidewalks.
here in the City it's not so bad. They keep plowing the roads and putting out salt etc., but the blowing snow is HORRIBLE. I literally cannot see the building across the parking lot right now. True the snow is falling, but the blowing from the roof and trees is making the visibility 10x's worse. KWIM?
Be careful most of all. With all the modern conveniences we have these days Blizzards aren't all that bad like they used to be.
Edited to say: As a side note, but dad actually said..."This is nothin'. I used to walk to school barefoot, up hill, with my sister on my back in weather worse than this." lol Riiiiiigggghhhhtttt!
coasterqueen replied: Yeah we just went several days w/o power so we are stocked up on all that battery, radio, generator, gas stuff. I really don't want to lose power again, but it happens often where I live. I don't have a lot of food, though, so I think I'll get some stuff on the way home.
I've been in conditions out where we live where we've had to ride a snow mobile to the highway for SEVERAL days just to get to our cars. We'd park the cars up at the elevator and then take snow mobiles up there so we weren't stranded on our road. When I was little and my grandpa lived out here we used to have to ride the snowmobile into town just to get groceries when the roads snowed over.
kayla's mama replied: Oh goodness You guys stay warm and cozy and safe!!!!!!
Maddie&EthansMom replied: This is all foreign to me, but stay safe.
Scotty would love to be snowed in, he says. He's so silly.
3xsthefun replied: Stay safe!
coasterqueen replied: The problem is we still have to find a way to work. So unless we get a foot of snow we make into work somehow. Like I said, find out what time the plow is going to come through and high tail it behind it OR just start driving and hope your car doesn't get stuck. I've had that happen to many times. During snow/blizzard like conditions on our road it means you play chicken if someone is going the opposite way down the road. Someone HAS to go into the ditch, it's just a question of who.
My3LilMonkeys replied: Stay safe!! And show us some pictures of that beautiful snow.
