After trying for a year and a half - finally found a doctor who

youngmomofone wrote: will help me. I went to a specialist for the first time yesterday and here's how it went.

Well, I love this doctor a lot. He was really nice and caring. We had to wait on him for a while but that was only because he took the time to go through my records to see what all has been done and so that really surprised me and made me say hey this guy is my doctor.

Anyway he came in and he went over my history and asked me and dh a bunch of questions. Then he told me that it was bs that the tech couldnt see anything from my internal ultrasound so he asked me to get undressed to have one done. he stepped out of course lol. cool.gif

So he comes in and does a quick pap which kinda hurt and then did the ultrasound. I can tell the lady who did it last time didnt put it in far enough ( laugh.gif ) so that's why she didnt see anything. He did it to where we saw my ovaries and boy was that uncomfortable.

He showed dh and I the screen and said those are your left ovary and see all those circles those are folicles/cysts, and did the same for the right one. He let me get dressed so he can come in and talk.

He basically said that he knows I have PCOS because of all the cysts. He then explained how pcos is and why Im not ovulating and everything. He then asked me to go get some opk's from Walmart while we are on our journey in his care to see if we can know when I ovulate if I do.

He then said that he wants to do an hsg and since other blood work has been done he wanted to do some to check my blood for one more thing that I forgot but I'll look it up in a minute. He wants to make sure that my tubes are not blocked.

Then he said if everything is a-ok he is going to put me on metformin and try that out. He said that he WILL get us pregnant. My smile was as wide as the room lol! Dh of course was like uhhh you mean with just one right?? And the doc said that there is a 10% chance of twins so dh feels a little better.

So there we have it. I am so relieved that they didnt laugh at me or tell me to go try some more or any other insensitive bs that has been told to me.

mom2my2cuties replied: That is great news that you found a doctor to help you out!

I can understand your husband's reaction to that smile.gif Mine would have said the same thing. Twins run in my family so my husband is already worried about that.

amymom replied: nice job in finding a doc who understands!!!

boyohboyohboy replied: i am so glad you found someone who listens. i have a friend going thru the same thing right now and she is so discouraged, i am forwarding this to her to cheer her up

~Roo'sMama~ replied: hug.gif hug.gif I'm so glad you found a good doctor! He sounds really great ~ I hope you have success soon! thumb.gif

youngmomofone replied: Thanks everyone!! Yeah I was so discourage and nervous before I went to see him, but as soon as he came in I knew that he was going to help me. I have to wait for my next af to start to schedule a hsg for 7-10 days later and then go from there. I'm so nervous about the hsg!

mom2my2cuties replied: I have to ask - what is an HSG?

Sorry I am not great with abbreviations I prefer to just type things out smile.gif

youngmomofone replied: I dont know the full name of it, but it's where they inject dye into your tubes to see if they are blocked. The lady told me that there will be some penching, but I heard stories of both sides where it didnt hurt and where it hurt pretty badly so I'm nervous as heck.

mom2my2cuties replied: oh ok smile.gif I know what you are talking about - I can't think of the name either - my sister had this done and she said it didn't hurt - but she has such a high pain tolerence that it isn't funny.

(Meaning her pain tolerence is so high that she went through her ENTIRE labor thinking she was having a stomach ache smile.gif and was taking tylenol for it )

youngmomofone replied: ohmy.gif how lucky she is!!

CantWait replied: Great news. I'm glad you finally found someone that will listen to you and is willing to help. wub.gif

youngmomofone replied: Thanks. biggrin.gif

Jolyn replied: Do you know anyone else with PCOS?

I have it. Our second son was conceived while i was taking 2000 mg of Metformin.
Sooooooo it can happen. I was shocked because it took fertility drugs to have our first son.

If you need anyone to talk to PM me. biggrin.gif

youngmomofone replied: Thanks! There are a couple on another board I go to, but they havent said much about it and what it took for them to conceive (most that have pcos is on the pg board right now).
