Acne problem - NEED HELP
1lilpeanut2love wrote: For a while now I have been getting alot of pimples. I NEED HELP!! My face looks all ''bumped'' up!! Does anyone have any suggestions or helpful hints to help me control and/or get rid of the acne. I really, really hate it!! I am so embarrased. I use liquid foundation, but I have stopped wearing it so much. I envy people with perfect skin. I wish I had perfect skin. Smooth and radiant!!!! TIA!
mummy2girls replied: lately i have gottne more pimples that before. my problem is being that it is cold out and wintery/snowy i get cold..my skin dries... and then i break out. Noxema works for me at night. and then i just drink more water and it helps. plus i tried tooth paste one time and that actually works...LOL
luvmykids replied: I've had acne my entire adult life, honestly salicylic acid is great b/c it's gentle and doesn't over dry "adult" skin, the problem is a lot of stuff is for super oily teenagers, kwim?
Loreal has a really good "adult" acne treatment, and I really liked Mary Kay's too, but I'm back to good old Proactive. It is soooo worth the money and truly the ONLY thing that works completely, all the other stuff I've tried is an improvement, but Proactive clears it up 100%. I wish I had a before and after for you.
I feel your pain, I know how much it sucks!
Oh-also found a product on ebay called Juliets clean and smooth, it was the next best thing for me next to Proactive and pretty cheap.
1lilpeanut2love replied: THANKS SO MUCH!! I HATE PEOPLE LOOKING AT MY SKIN BECAUSE OF IT. URGGGHH!! I HAVE REALLY WANTED TO TRY PROACTIVE, BUT I WASN'T SURE IF IT WOULD WORK OR NOT. I WILL HAVE TO TRY IT NOW COMING FROM YOU!! LOL. CAN U ONLY FIND/BUY THE JULIETS CLEAN AND SMOOTH ON EBAY! TIA
luvmykids replied: I hadn't looked for it anywhere else, and I still have a decent amount left, if you want I'll send it to you to try before you buy it. But honestly, I would get the Proactive and they have a great money back guarantee. Be vigilant, do it twice a day every day. If you're like me, by the time bedtime rolls around I'm too tired to wash my face so I do it while the kids brush their teeth. I saw a huge improvement in the first 2 weeks, and it's gotten better ever since.
And I really do have bad skin, I'm not one of those who just gets a zit once in a while. So I really do swear by it, and I've learned my lesson!
1lilpeanut2love replied: THAT WOULD BE NICE!
I HATE DOING ANYTHING RIGHT BEFORE BED!! lol
I REALLY, REALLY NEED SOMETHING. IT IS GETTING WORSE AND WORSE.
Nina J replied: Proactiv, it's the best. DH uses it and it makes his skin so nice, it's worth the money.
1lilpeanut2love replied: Thanks all for your help.
~~*Missi*~~ replied: I have had acne on and off all my life. I have tried everything and anything under the sun. I love pro activ but it gets expensive after a while but worth it. If you have insurance see a dermatologist. There are great drugs (topical and oral) that they can prescribe. Most are not safe while ttc or pregnant so if you are done having kids or on BC there is alot of help. Pills Accutane works great but highly toxic to pregnancy (fetus). I loved it but my dermatologist unless your on BC she won't prescribe it. Tetracycline is safe until the third trimester. Or Retin-A cream works good.
If you go to walmart there is a solution called Acne Free (dont hold me to it) that is IDENTICAL to proactiv. I have been using the clean & clear system. Its a wash cream and spot gel. And it works good but i rotated it with the neutrogena system of wash cream and spot gel. I swear my face gets use to things. Water helps only because it takes the toxins out your system Best bet is to get into Walmart and/or a dermatologist!
MyLuvBugs replied: My SIL uses Proactive for her skin, and you would not believe the difference it has made. It's like night and day. For me....Proactive is too expensive. So, I use the Melaleuca stuff, and it works fine on my skin (when I use it lol ). The key to any skin regimine though is consistancy in use. If you remember to use it the right way everyday....you're skin will be fine. If it gets worse for any reason, stop use immediately and go to the DR. sometimes acne is hormonal, and you have to take meds to get it back under control. I hope proactive works for you.
Mommy2Isabella replied: PROACTIVE! It works wonder. Because of all of my LADY problems I have acne and if I don't use proactive, I have acne. NOTHING ELSE WORKS. Natures Cure helped but didnt make it go away, BIRTH CONTROL helped ... lol. Now that I am pregnant and can't use Salysilic < SP? Acid my face is breaking out like it did when I was a Freshman in High School. Proactive is pricey BUT worth it. Its like $50 for a 3 month supply. It isn't good for people who just get a pimple every once in awhile. It is pretty strong stuff. One problem I had ... it bleached my face. I was GHOSTLY white because of how high the SA is in it! But as soon as I can I am getting back to using the proactive!!!!
GOOD LUCK! I TOTALLY UNDERSTAND YOUR FRUSTRATION!
CosmetologyMommy replied: Is ur foundation water based and oil free?
luvmykids replied: I tried that too, personally it just didn't quite do it like proactive did for me. I have been on Accutane twice, it's incredible stuff while you're on it and in many cases it can clear it up for life, but for me both times, it came back within 6 months of finishing treatment.
~~*Missi*~~ replied: accutane is one of those pills that have to be taken to work. Once the high dose of vitamin a releases from your body the acne comes back.
I had the best skin when on it but like you I went off it because i wanted children and well it was back within time. I will go back on it when we are done if I am still prone to acne because its only what worked for me and pregnancy. When i was knocked up with sabrina OMG my skin was great!
Other note! LOL If topical stuff doesn't work I would go for a dermatologist appointment. I know that no matter how routine i am it still is there, which stinks.
luvmykids replied: I was checking it out today and now a days they are all prohibited from prescribing it without prior proof of negative pg test, and proof of b/c. Even pharmacies now are under restrictions for dispensing it, even with an rx.
Just thought I'd share that interesting tid bit.
mommymonster replied: I have very oily skin and wearing liquid make up always feels like putting on vegetable oil but out of all of the face cleaning products, and I have tried quite a variety from mega - expensive to over the counter types and the one that I love is the line for oily skin by Estee Lauder my complection has been clear for 3 months straight since I have been on it. Around the same time I have switched make-up and I no longer put any liquid foundation on at all--- I have switched to a product called "Bare Minerals" by 'Bare Essentials' . I will never change makeup again!! It is a mineral based make-up like a baby fine powder, stays on all day, you control the amount of coverage you need and you can not even feel it on your face! Did I mention that it clears the skin too? It is wonderful! It has truly helped me.
There website if you want more info, www.bareminerals.com also you can buy it at Ulta salons or on QVC (home shopping network) www.qvc.com Sophora sells it too! You may like it! It is definatly worth the money to at least try it once...the containers are small, but the cosmetics last a long time!
Hope that helps alittle!
mommymonster replied: I also had a friend use Proactive and it definately works for her! I have never tried it, thought about it, but I could not find a place that sold it with out having to order it online, I like to buy things and use them right away......it is hard for me to wait for things in the mail!
luvmykids replied: I'm so jealous, I love the idea of bare minerals and have tried it 3 times hoping each time that I just got a bad batch ... on me, it totally maximizes my wrinkles and pores.
1lilpeanut2love replied: Sounds great!! I may have to switch and check in to it!!
