Acckk! Ashley gave me a scare!

MommyToAshley wrote: After her bath, I put some Little Noses Saline Spray in her nose because she seemed stuffy. I had to blow my own nose (Sorry TMI) because DH has given me his cold. I only turned my head for a minute and when I turned back around she was sucking on the Saline Spray bottle. I know that it is non-medicated, but I was concerned about her getting too much sodium chloride and becoming dehydrated. So, I called Poison Control and they said that since there is less than 1% sodium chloride in the saline drops that it won't hurt her. (They did some calculations based on her weight too just to make sure). The person at Poison Control said to give her plenty to drink, and that there is a possibility that it may make her vomit but other than that she should be ok. I don't think she drank very much of it, but it still scared me. It was her bed time, and the person at Poison Control said it was ok to let her go to sleep. She hasn't had any problems, I gave her a big glass of milk, and put her to bed. She's been fine. I really don't think she drank very much of it, but it still scared me. I've been careful about putting meds up... I guess this is a reminder that it only takes a second. I'm still upset about it, even though I feel a little relieved after talking to Poison Control.

ediep replied: awwwww, poor Mommy!!!

I am sure that Ashley will be fine, she probabaly didn't swallow enough to make her sick, but I know what you mean about it only taking a second. Jason is into everything....it takes 1 second for him to get into something he isn't supposed to!

MomToJade&Jordan replied: I think she is going to be all right, but I would have been freaked out too. Jade did this to me, but it was one of those ant traps you put around. We were outside and a neighbor had put them out by her door. I just turned my head a minute and when I looked back Jade had this thing in her mouth. The poison is actually contained inside and she was unharmed, but it did give me a scare.

A&A'smommy replied: awwwww poor mommy!! (((BIG HUGS))))

MommyToAshley replied: Thanks everyone... I do feel a little better.

The lady I talked to at Poison Control (Umma was her name) just called to check on Ashley. I thought that was really nice, and she reassured me again that there was nothing to be concerned about... they just like to call and check up.

CantWait replied: I'm so sorry you had such a scare. Big hugs to you grouphug.gif

Kirstenmumof3 replied: grouphug.gif Awww I'm sorry you had to go through that! I had a simmilar situation with my oldest DD. After my DS was born we were putting the alcohol rub on his belly button and I guess I left it on the change table because the next thing I knew she was drinking it! Quite the scare let me tell you! Glad that Ashley is okay! grouphug.gif

kimberley replied: ohmy.gif OMG! i am so glad she is okay! that is scary and these things just happen so fast! big hugs to you both! grouphug.gif grouphug.gif

amynicole21 replied: Yikes ohmy.gif I'm glad she didn't get too much of it! That is so scary sad.gif Glad she is ok, though!

Kaitlin'smom replied: awww soory i missed this post I did hear about it saturday. ((BIG HUGS)) glad she is okay, and Ashley dont scare mommy like that!

jen replied: Oh!!! ohmy.gif I am so glad she is ok!!! That would have scared me too!!! i'm so glad you had someone nice to deal with at Poison Control, sounds like that woman really cared! smile.gif

coasterqueen replied: Oh Dee, I'm so sorry, what a scare! I remember when Kylie got ahold of my antibiotic and started to eat it, I was so scared I was balling all night, even after Poison control said it would not have hurt her in the least bit.

I'm so glad Ashley is ok.

((HUGS)) to both of you.

MommyToAshley replied:
She's been doing great, I don't think it affected her at all. I am just glad it was something non-medicated. It's a reminder that I can't turn my back on her for even a second if I have anything out that she shouldn't have.

Thanks everyone for the hugs and support. grouphug.gif

jcc64 replied: I know the feeling Dee Dee. When my 11 yr old was about 2, he climbed on a chair and got the very yummy tasting bottle of bubble gum flavored Motrin and drank about 1/2 the bottle before I discovered him. I freaked out to say the least. Called my bro who is a ped and he calculated his wt vs the dosage and assured me no damage had been done, but I was so hysterical I didn't believe him and called poison control anyway. They basically told me the same thing, and he was fine. Lesson learned: child proof caps are not fool proof, and as you said, tragedies happen in a split second. Glad yours' was pretty harmless.

mommytosammy replied: thank goodness she is ok DEE. I would've been hysterical too for sure.

Ashley, don't scare your mommy like that ok sweetie, you are too cute wub.gif
