Aaron's going to have to mail home a box - the size of our porch.
MyBrownEyedBoy wrote: Aaron's family has gone completely overboard with toys, books, movies and clothes for Logan. I mean, come on. He has plenty of stuff. More than a single child would ever need. I can understand the clothes, but puh-lease. Now I have to find more spaces for more toys in his already crowded bedroom. I see a major trip to goodwill in the near future. But I just took over a big load of stuff. The toys I kept are the ones he consistently plays with. The others are like "fad" toys. He plays with them for a while, then goes back to the old standbys. I don't think I can cull out his toys any more than I already have. Heaven help me if I get rid of Buzz or Woody. I have tried my very hardest to make sure that Logan's toys don't take over the house. And Aaron's parents are seriously undermining me.
luvbug00 replied: I'm sure goodwill would like to accept the extras and oldies that you think that are too much for Logan. Grandparents will be Grandparents and i suppose spoiling him with clothes and toys beats having them undermine some of the more important rules you have. right?
lovemy2 replied: I hear yah - my inlaws bring Olivia a coloring book EVERYTIME they come here - she must have about 100 coloring books - that and every toy they have at the Dollar Store - which is fine - don't care that they don't spend alot of money on the toys but please just give me the cash for her 529 plan so I can afford to send her to college
When do they come home??
MyBrownEyedBoy replied: They'll be home late on the 16th. Logan's bed is set up with his new quilt my grammy made. It's Cars. I'm sure he'll love it. I am so ready to have more people in the house.
MyBrownEyedBoy replied: Good point, Nadia, but I'm not sure they are following the bedtime and no milk except before bed rules. Oh, well. I'll be happy to see him no matter how spoiled he is.
gr33n3y3z replied: He is their little Grandson
mummy2girls replied: you can always send some my way hun:)
MyBrownEyedBoy replied: I'm all about that, Shelly. I've misplaced your addy, though. Just PM me and you'll have some boy toys headed your direction ASAP.
redplaydoh replied: When he gets home let HIM select toys to donate or give away. Tell him he received 10 new toys (or whatever amount) and he should select the same amount to give away.
Before we moved we contacted our police department and they came and picked up a whole trunkful of toys, clothing and baby items to take the the women's shelter. They were grateful saying that so many women come to these shelters with babies and children only with what they are wearing and items like this are desperately needed... Perhaps that is an option?
MyBrownEyedBoy replied: The shelter idea may be available. I'd have to contact the police station and see. I'm sending some to Shelly for her dayhome, but I'm sure I'll still have way too many. I don't think Logan's quite old enough to grasp the concept of choosing which toys to give away. He's not yet 3.
Calimama replied: Yikes. I agree with the shelter idea.
MyBlueEyedBabies replied: You can do it Kelly. When we started packing up the house I gave each of the kids one box and they could fill it with what they wanted to keep....that is it. We got rid of everything else. We did keep 2 of Matt's trucks that were too big to fit and one of Katy's bigger things. None of them are here at the IL's house (they have a very small cabinet of toys) and I can honestly say they are not missing anything. You would be surprised with how much they just don't care.
MyBrownEyedBoy replied: Good point, Lisa. Aaron even said that Logan will play with a few of the new things, then go back to the old favorites I packed with them. So, I guess nearly all of those things can go. I sure won't miss them. So long as he's got books and puzzles and colors, we are usually good to go. Thanks.
