AAAAAAHHHHHH!!!! - people!
Danalana wrote: Sometimes I really don't like people. Today seems to be one of those days. I work at wal-mart vision center. We open at 9, but somebody (me, today) gets there at 8:30 to do the stuff that has to be done before opening, i.e. paperwork, etc...well, right after I get there, I feel somebody staring at me. I look and there is a man standing at the entrance...the lights are off and there is something blocking the entrance. I asked him if I could help him, and he asked what time we opened. I told him "9", and he sighed really big and left. I wonder if he goes to other businesses and expects them to just open when he gets there. Probably not. Because it's wal-mart, some people think our "hours" don't mean anything. The regular part of the store is open all the time, but we have open and closing hours. *sigh* He just got me in a bad mood, and then it was bad news from there. It seems like this is the day for jerks...please, God, get me home without having some sort of breakdown
EDIT: In accordance with another thread I made, "What time do you open?" means "I don't care what time you open; Just be open!"
TheOaf66 replied: yep used to love that, they can tell you're closed but they still try and ask you a question or something, I was just commenting to some co-workers how I have no tolerance for people and they said I needed a chill pill but usually the average person make me
Danalana replied: I don't normally get angry, and I know this doesn't seem like a big deal...you'd just have to know some of the other ones who came in today. Anyway, when thay ask what time you open, they will usually try to get you to adjust their glasses or get them contacts...something. The thing is, management was late getting me the keys...I had nothing done yet, and I was running out of time. Sooooo, I didn't open a door for him to think he could get me to do any of those things. I think I'm hormonal or something
TheOaf66 replied: whenever someone asked me what time do you open I was usually standing next to the sign that listed the hours and I just wanted to point to it and go "you tell me"
Danalana replied: Hehe...i didn't mind the question, just the fact that he was mad about the answer
Miranda1127 replied: lol poor girl. i remember those days. one time (when i was a manager at petsmart) some lady tryed to leave with a betta (the colorful fish in cups) i stoped her and put my hand around the plastic cup (in her hand) so she squeezed it and said fine than i hope it dies. (it didn't btw). i so hate people too (most of the time anyway). what retail can do to you uggg
hope you feel better soon
Danalana replied: Aww, now I feel bad...I don't want to come off as a people-hater. I'm not most days
Miranda1127 replied: you didn't. you came off as a "retailer"
Twelve Volt Man replied: People are stupid and, all too often, lack common sense. You simply got a reminder of that today!
Jackie012007 replied: oh man you just took me back to when I worked at Wal*mart in the fish department. Some person came in, and in protest of us selling fish in "inhumane conditions" (and I agree to a point) , ran down the aisle pouring baking soda into all the tanks - it killed all the fish!
Uhm... isn't KILLING THEM inhumane?!?!?! Freakin' nut. I hated retail - you encounter all kinds!
Calimama replied: I can't stand when people are rude to employees. It's not like you can change policy's, store hours, or products.
Danalana replied: Yeah...like, "I know the sign says we have actual hours but, since you want me to get your glasses early, I am going to stay around the clock...just in case you show up".
Miranda1127 replied: omg that is just hateful. Dummy. i hate dummies
