A little VENT
TANNER'S MOM wrote: Well Randy's daughter Tiffany came and stayed a few days w/ us this week.
I love her so much and it has been great to be w/ her..
But anyway...
She found some shoes she wanted at the mall.. NIKE shocx..however u spell it..clearance rack 40.00 bucks..
Well they didn't have her size...one up and one down..
So Randy was at the mall w/ the kids alone looking for these shoes. He told her she could look for some for 50.00..and no more. Tanner's cost 19.00 on clearance..
She looked and looked and couldnt find any..she wanted some for 80.00 he said no.. he said I will give u the 50.00 and u Mom can put the 30.00 w/ it from child support if she wants...
Well later her Mom called..and Tiff was telling her what Randy said... and I guess she went off talking about how cheap he was and everythign.. Randy said he lost it too.. and hung up on her.
Do you think we are being unreasonable?
First of all.. I know that child support doesnt go far..but he does pay alot for the scale around here.. Plus every school year.. I buy her supplies completely..and some clothes.. Like when I went shopping w/ Tanner I bougth her 3 shirts she found and some Bra's like 2 weeks ago.. and I bought a bunch of socks and panites..
Are we wrong???
JessC replied: I dont think you are, she could find shoes that are cheaper, maybe her mom can by them since she gets child support ... OR help in buying them...
mommy_loves_chase replied: i dont think you are in the wrong at all i mean i would hope she is going to spend the money on her kid anyway so as i see it he was being nice to spend the 50 for the shoes i know my parents would never spend 50 for a pair of shoes for me and the extra 30 would go to her anyway so what the difference if she spends it on her or if he spends it on her?
moped replied: Nope, you are NOT wrong at all - you are right
Mommy2BAK replied: You are NOT wrong!
ammommy replied: I think that was a reasonable compromise.
Insanemomof3 replied: I agree, you are NOT wrong. I would think that the mother could chip in for HER child. Or maybe she could find some cheaper shoes. Wow kids are picky. LOL not looking forward to that with my kids.
kimberley replied: i agree, you are not wrong in this. it is unreasonable to cave to whims just for a label when she could buy perfectly good shoes for $50. my dad always told me at that age that i can have what he'll buy or get a PT job and buy what i want. it taught me to appreciate a dollar, kwim?
Maddie&EthansMom replied: Nope, You aren't wrong. She is a teenager and she is playing you. We came from a nice, middle class family, but their were limits to what my parents would buy us. $50 shoes WAS NOT on that list. Like Kimberley said, we got jobs if we wanted more than what they were willing to spend.
punkeemunkee'smom replied: Nope you are NOT wrong! When you are taking care of a step-child I think you always feel that pressure to out do what you would for your own kids-they don't have their dad with them :blahblah:If your step-daughter's mom is saying dh is so cheap than is she willing to shell out the whole $80 herself? It is a shame when mom wants dad to look so bad that instead of reaching a comprimise she would rather cause a problem!
Hillbilly Housewife replied: You're so NOT wrong.
In fact - I thought that it was extrememly generous to even offer that her mom pay for the other 30$...
my mom, it would have a been a flat out resounding NO!
Her main choice of clothes were bought at Salvation Army, Value Village and the likes.... (stores where people donate clothes, and then you can buy them for relaly really really cheap... like 3$ for a pair of jeans... lol)
Sometimes you find really nice stuff in there... I found a Calvin Klein shirt once - store value of like 60$... I got it for 5$.... couldn`t pass it up... even if I never wore it...
I`m not looking forward to that when my kids are growing up - but eerily, DH and I talked about exactly this last night... allowance.... we`re going to give our kids an allowance - they have to put at least 1/3 of it in the bank, and they can use it on whatever they want. If we set limits to 150$ on a shopping spree for clothes (which isn`t that much nowadays...) and they want something that totals to 200$ - they`ll have to dish out the extra 50$. Or rather, I`ll pay for it, then withdraw 50$ from their account, or their next allowances.... lol
Good luck - and keep being strong!
3xsthefun replied: No, I don't think you all are being unreasonable! I think $50 is alot money for pair of shoes. I think she could find her a pretty good pair for that price.
mckayleesmom replied: 50 dollars......that is already too generous in my family....
redchief replied: More than reasonable I think.
A&A'smommy replied: UH NO!!!! I would be pissed too!!!!
gr33n3y3z replied: I would never spend more then 50.00 on any sneakers for the kids and when you have to buy 4 pair thats 200.00 in one shot. when they got older I told them when you work you can buy what ever you wanted with your money.
Well guess what when they have to buy them with their own money they dont want sneakers any more then 50.00.
Kohls has great prices on sneakers also.
I dont think Randy did anything wrong with giving her that money and telling her to get the rest from her mother. She got the better end of that deal
