A Silly Question - But I really want to know...
redchief wrote: How you go about cleaning your bathtub. We have a five foot cast iron tub. Lisa cleaned the rest of the bathroom yesterday and it was looking great except for the bathtub. THAT was gross. I almost always clean the tub, so I decided to do it today. We also have sliding doors on the tub so accessing all of the bath from outside the tub is difficult. So I get all the cleaners together, a scrub brush and dive in. I'm not sure Lisa doesn't think I'm a little out there the way I do it, but I can't think of a better way.
How do you clean your tub?
Our Lil' Family replied: Often times I'll do it that way too. I'll clean the whole house and then clean the tub last, once it's clean I'm already in it to clean myself! If I don't do it that way I just do it the hard way and lean over the side and try not to fall in.
holley79 replied: I use those new Mr Clean scrubbing pads. We have the old tubs with the raised floor of the tub. That's always grody. Before the Mr Clean pads I would almost kill myself with bleach.
redchief replied: Heh.. I use Comet. It makes my nails so nice and soft.

kimberley replied: comet or mr clean bathroom for the tub and i have shower spray stuff for the walls that i do when i finish my shower lol. i also have to get half in the tub to clean the far wall.
aspenblue1 replied: I get the cleaning stuff and climb in the tube and the shower to clean them.
gr33n3y3z replied: Hon I dont care if you stand on your head just as long as I dont have to do it lol But how you do it is very cute to watch
C&K*s Mommie replied: I get the disposable sponges, gloves and a spray cleaner like Greased Lightning, or a powder like Ajax or something tough but not overbearing with the odor.
Anyone try the automatic shower cleaner, that cleans your shower for you over a weeks time?? (cannot think of who it is made by)
Cece00 replied: I spray bleach cleaner (after turning on the vent, of course) in the shower & then soap scum cleaner on the door...I let it sit, wipe it down, and rinse.
Momof3inMe replied:
I have a shower stall and bathtub. The bathtub is a older one with the claw feet. When I clean the tub I use ajax or something like it and I just scrub away. Emily is the only one who really uses the tub right now so its not that hard to clean. But I would love to use the automatic cleaner for the shower.
redchief replied: Well, now. Hmmm. I just said someone else can finish it. I'm beginning to have a change of heart.
Hillbilly Housewife replied: I use Vim. I just slop it a little all over the place, rub it to cover the inside, let it sit for a bit (5 - 6 minutes) then rub it off while spraying water on it.
ZandersMama replied: I use the reasoning that chemicals aren't good for pregnant or nursing people so DH ends up doing it
luvmykids replied: I have it and think it's pretty pathetic .... it squirts out this tiny little stream so you get a clean "line" all the way around but it doesn't spray enough to run down and clean anything else
I wipe it down every day after my shower, then it just stays clean
Jackie012007 replied: YYYYYEAH me too! poor DF teeheehee... we have a 6 foot porcelain claw foot bathtub and it's a total pain to clean... before I started getting big, I would use Comet to scrub it since the porcelain stains so easily. We have a shower head attached to the tub so the tub gets used every time we shower and needs to be cleaned a lot Porcelain is an evil, evil substance!
coasterqueen replied: Well I'm on the hunt for more natural cleaners to use but right now I use the Clorox wipe thingy that goes on a pole so I don't have to do any bending. I think it's by Clorox. Anyways, that is how I scrub the big garden tub. I have to get in the tub, though, to wipe down the marble surface around the tub because it gets very dusty.
To clean the master shower I do the walls the same way as the garden tub, as well as the shower door. I put clorox bleach on the floor part and scrub on hands and knees. When DH cleans the shower he just gets in, cleans, then takes his shower.
I do pretty much the same thing in the other two bathrooms as well.
Jeffs Wife replied: I wish we had a tub, i miss having one. Since we moved into the house we're in now, all we have is a big shower stall. It's nice and everything, it has a little seat in there and everything, but I really miss taking bubble baths. I'm just glad the kids aren't too little so they can take showers and not baths.
JP&KJMOM replied: I use Scrubbing bubbles. Spray, let it sit, wipe it down and rinse. BTW I absolutely hate cleaning the tub. Almost worse than the toliet!
Halo42101 replied: They have these new scrubbers with wands that you can use to clean your tub and other hard to get spots in the bathroom. I forget what it's called but I seen the commercial, and I want one, so I don't have to break my back scrubbing the tub with sponges anymore. I think the product is from Mr. Clean but I am not a 100% sure.
boyohboyohboy replied: HI! The thing you are talking about is, Mr Clean Magic Reach. I just got one last week and its amazing! I will never tote around a bucket and cleaners again! It reachs all the hard spots, and is very bendable so it gets the hard to reach spots, and there is a pad for the counter and sink, and the tub, and it works so good, really suds up and has a strong cleaner in it, and then a different pad for the floor, and it has really good rubber scrubbers on it too, so it does clean with out much elbow grease! I should be the new spokes person for this thing, I love it! totally recommend getting it!
If I had one to clean the toilet I would be set!
It even leaves a nice smell afterwards, not really bleachy smell, but clean..
Hillbilly Housewife replied: Karen - I have natural stuff... I got it back when I ordered my organic meat. I have some stain remover, some liquid hand soap, liquid dish soap, some all purpose cleaner, and some antibacterial cleaner. I had some laundry detergent too, but my mom took it when I moved. It was a 5 gallon bin.
I still have some un-opened bottles of each. It's great stuff!!!
7thHeaven replied: I use scrubbing bubbles also, works great for me!!
