4D Ultrasound Pictures!!!!!

jen replied: AND! This one is really distorted!! But I am adding it because she looks Really MAD!! HA! Right after this one she rolled over and ended the photo session!!! It is distorted because she is behind so much cord that shows up the same as skin!!

BTW, is the 4D u/s's safer than the regular? I know they say you shouldn't have too many of them because they are really not safe, so I was wondering if the 4D's were safer.

I am really not too sure! I know that I have a friend that is a Vet and she gives herself an ultrasound every couple of weeks to check on her baby! ha ha! LOL! So I am not sure in what way it isn't safe but I do recall hearing that somewhere! I would imagine it to be safe considering they don't have any restrictions on how often you have it done. I will ask next week when I go and let you know!!

Well if they don't have restrictions I'm sure they *are* safe. I know docs don't like to give too many 2D u/s. So I would guess they are. That's cool! Can't wait to see the next one

Our Doc (well the U/S tech) used the same machine but turned a knob to switch it to 4D mode. I read up on the 4D U/S before we had one done and, the 4D uses the same technology (sound waves) as 2D ultrasounds.
As you probably already know, the U/S works by sending out high frequency sound waves which are then reflected off the baby. The way I understand it is that 2D ultrasound calculates the image based on echoes from a one location. In a 4D U/S, when the probe is moved accross the mommy's belly, it picks up echoes along the way. The data from different angles are then used to calculate and build the 4D U/S. The accuracy of the 4D U/S depends a lot on the skill of the technician. Our pictures turned out to look exactly like Ashley... we were amazed.
