30 Week Ob appt today

I am measuring right on target, baby was kicking the dopplar, heart rate was 150 and I've not gained any weight in the last 2 weeks. Actually, I'm at the same weight now that I was when I got pregnant with K. :-)

Things are going well...I did pick up my "goody bag" which is a bag that is provided from a formula company. That just bugs me KWIM? As a mom who plans to bf her baby, and a mom that made that clear to my OB who was super supportive, why would they give this crap out? Guess I'll donate it.

Ugh, I hate those formula bags, or so-called "breastfeeding support bags". Drives me nuts! I leave that crap there, but take any of the other free things inside (lotion, baby soap, etc.).

I can not believe that there are only 10 weeks left either. I'm sort of freaked out by the whole thing. However I did get the crib set up in our room (still need to buy bedding) and I've gotten our online registry done even though we really don't need much & I know that I'm not getting a shower.

I need to pick up a new breastpump and a few bottles & get some frozen meals ready next month. I also still need to pack my bag. Really though, there is a lot left to do but none of it is super important.

I have just completed arrangements for a co worker of DH's to come over to watch K when I go into labor. She will only need to be here a few hours until my mom gets here. I've also started K 4 days a week at the daycare, instead of 3. I suspect I will need that time to sleep for the first month or so. KWIM?

3_call_me_mama replied: When I had Kathleen our hospital gave out BF bags! Apparently enough moms complained about recieving formula as an effort to sabatoge (speeled wrong i'm sure) their effort to breast feed. Well efamil gives bags out for breast feeding moms. Ther's a book called the New mother's guide to breast feeding, (Very helpful!), some ice packs, some nursing pads, soem milk storage bottles and some lanoish cream. Plus all kinds of info on breast feeding. I was thrilled that they actually were noticing the BFing moms!! They gave us a formula bag too because they are supposed to give one to everyone but thye gave my 2 formula samples to the girl in the room next to me cause she was bottle feeding. WE also got a goodie bag from success by six (not sure if you all have this or not) with a discovery toy and a board book in it.
Any way...
You shoudl make some noise about getting breast feeding mom bags, cause enfamil does do them..

That's odd, most OB offices or hospitals have a version of the bag for those that are going to BF. We still got a diaper bag, some containers for storing expressed BM and a thermo sleeve for EBM bottles in the bag. Then it has some other samples and coupons and some information on supplementing with formula if needed.


Glad you appointment went well. I can't believe you are 30 Weeks already!! WOW!
