"Dennis the menace"

A&A'smommy wrote: Well Dennis is suppose to hit us harder than Ivan did so its time to go out and get some hurrican supplies... I could cry if we loose electricity we have LOTS of food since we just bought grocieries over 140 dollars worth which is quite a bit for us.. we have battieries and we have one of those flashlights that you shake up. GRRR I hate this this is two bad hurricanes in two years before last year the last bad one we had was in 1979... I guess they are tired of Florida which is good for floridians... anyway sorry to complain dh is getting upset because he doesn't know what we should do about our stuff.. and I don't know either I'm going to call my mom she might have some advice. I guess my make-up money is now going to be hurricane money sad.gif

mckayleesmom replied: Sorry girl...hope it doesn't get to you guys... Supplies are more important then make-up....Maybe you can leave everything wrapped up and if you don't end up using it...return it.

JessC replied: I was just gonna ask if anyone on here is suffering from it, I heard its spose to be bad!!! If you can, to try to save $$ go to a cheap grochery store or some kinda dollar store if you can,

Hows the weather there so far?
I hope it doesnt hit you guys, and make sure if it comes close TAKE COVER!

mummy2girls replied: Im so sorry hun! I dont really have advice because I live where there is no hurricanes at all! ohmy.gif

A&A'smommy replied: I haven't ordered my make-up yet that is why I still have the money but we went to the store a little while ago and the shelves are nearly bare they ONLY had 6packs of 20ounce dasani water they didn't even have any nursery water and we need some dry.gif I guess we will try again tomorrow... anyway I have a feeling it wont be so bad I was just a little pannicked wink.gif

It kinda went around Cuba so no one really got anything too bad there just TONS of rain and it should be hitting the gulf coast tomorrow morning I think... and then it should be here sunday and monday so we will see... last time the eye broke up RIGHT before it hit us and this time it suppose to hit about 25 minutes from us... anyway its very interesting you can tell I haven't been through to many of these!

amynicole21 replied: How close are you to the coast? Even over 50 miles inland we still had Cat 3 winds with Charlie last year. I hate these things. Stay safe, and remember to fill the bathtub (keep Alyssa out of the bathroom!!) and washing machine with water just in case and start making some ice now. Keeping you in my thoughts.

A&A'smommy replied:
we are four hours from the coast but I mean last year I think Ivan was a cat 4 maybe 3 and we still got hit pretty bad!! The are predicting that Dennis will hit us hard too so even if it does we are going to be cautious! Why do you feel up the bathtub? Probably a stupid question but I have only been through 2 hurricanes... wink.gif

MomToJade&Jordan replied: Filling up the bathtub is recommened in case of the sewer systems being contaminated. Even more so if you have a septic tank that might be in a low-lying area. Standing water can get into the septic system and that can be bad. My parents have a septic system and we always filled the bathtub just in case.

As of now Dennis is a Cat 2 Hurricane with winds gusting at 111mph. It's 10:38 pm Hawaii time so that is about 3:38 am your time. Just get stuff boarded up and keep an eye on things. I have been keeping an eye on it since my parents live in Naples, Fl. They are ready, but it looks like Dennis keeps moving more west. If it stays on it's current track it looks like it might hit Mississippi/Louisiana.

My thoughts are with you guys and anyone else who is in the path of this storm. Stay safe and keep us posted.

amynicole21 replied:
We couldn't drink city water for about a week after one of the storms because the water treatment plant was out of power just like the rest of us rolleyes.gif

MissyKay2005 replied: I hope you don't get hit to hard where your at! Will be in my thoughts and Prayers. God Bless smile.gif

Boys r us replied: I hope you don't get hit too hard hun! We're expecting remnants of it on monday or tuesday. We're pretty far inland so we only get heavy rain and floods and tornadoes! LOL
Get some coolers..and if you do loose electricity, remove your cold stuff and put it in the coolers...and then put your ice in there. That will help you for a day or so..and by then if you still don't have power, you can maybe at least get out to get some ice from a store!

A&A'smommy replied: We have no idea what this stupid storm is going to do.. if we loose power were going to take our cold stuff to his parents they didn't loose anything during ivan because of they have a huge freezer.. so that is that.. I guess its just a waiting game its moving so dang slow.. They are evacuating the gulf coast starting a 6am and they turned both sides of the road to northbound at 8am.

SOUTHERN MOMMY replied: bawling.gif We are getting ready for dennis too i have moved all of our food to the kitchen in the basement and i also brought toys, clothes.covers, pillows, and anything that i think we might need down here. we will just camp out for a few days here and see what happens. bawling.gif

A&A'smommy replied: I hate this it is ALMOST a cat. 4 that means it could still be a cat 2 by time it hits us or worse... I think we are going to stay with my inlaws since my parents are sick... I hope it dies some... OMG have you been watching the weather channel there is this guy that is staying in his house that is RIGHT ON the beach actually its on the water.... I hope the crazy guy will be okay!!

gr33n3y3z replied: Keep your head about you and you will be fine
Hugs to all of you

MomToJade&Jordan replied: I'm thinking about you guys. It looked pretty ferocious before I went to bed, but downgraded to a Cat 3 before it hit land. I hope we hear from you soon.

A&A'smommy replied: Its a cat 1 now which is still enough to cause significant damage but I guess we will see... it has already taken out my inlaws neighbors fence
