*BIG SAD* sigh - I am SO SAD!!!!!
punkeemunkee'smom wrote: This week has been a week of visits to the vet and feed store for medication and electrolytes for Cookie. She has been on a roller coaster of sorts-one minute up the next down I thought lastnight that we may actually be on the road to health...This morning I got up at about 5:45 to her asking for a bottle I went out and made her one and started playing with her when I noticed a sore on her front leg right on the joint. I figured it was something akin to a bed sore,as due to her not feeling well, she has been laying down so much-well it seems as though it is actually a septic abcess. She probably contacted something from her momma or during birth (we have done a STRONG antibiotic so it would have had to already been in her body) The vet has only seen 3 calves live through this kind of infection... She did get up this evening and drank a full bottle of milk and then 1/2 of one of electrolytes but it is becoming harder and harder for her to stand and then lay down I have done everything I know to do and then some...we are not giving up yet but she is beginning to be in pain....I have spoken to our vet and will go pick up one more pretty heavy shot in the morning-in the meantime I have cleaned her sore and dressed them- I have her on asprin for the pain and swelling and we are willing to keep trying as long as she seems to want to keep fighting I KNOW that bottle calves have a hard go of it but this is breaking my heart. The vet said today that he has never seen anyone try this hard...that is some comfort-I guess Please say a prayer for Cookie (and Taylor-and me ) We already love her like a pet and really want her to pull through this
Sweet baby Cookie

cameragirl21 replied: any updates on Cookie today, Abbie? here's to hoping for some good news....
Our Lil' Family replied: You know I had the same thing happen to me with a dog. I believe that I was given little Callie so that her last days would be in a happy home. I hope that is not the situation with Cookie but if it is then that is also why you have her! You are taking VERY GOOD care of her! I hope she gets better, I know how attached you and Tay already are.

punkeemunkee'smom replied: Thank you for all the prayers and PTs! They are working. Cookie is still with us and even had the energy to run a bit today-she is still drinking her bottles which is 1/2 the battle and even though she is still having trouble with her tummy and the sores are still pretty nasty-she seems to be in a good MOOd I gave her a shot this morning and we are still hoping and praying that she is going to pull through! Bill is even talking about building her a pen and shed in the back of our yard because when she gets better she will be alot more than a pasture cow I will keep everyone posted! Thank you again for the concern
CantWait replied: Oh Gosh, you have me crying. Great job on trying so hard. I hope it all pays off. Prayers.
