$3.00 for a roll of TP - would you buy it?

C&K*s Mommie wrote: Get ready, folks, because the fire extinguisher to your incessant inferno of yearning for pricey designer paper products which have no purpose other than to be flushed down a commode — but look fabulous with your new shower curtain — is on its way.

After successfully launching a line of black paper last year, our Portuguese friends from across the pond introduced a stylish new line of red toilet tissue for those wanting a more passionate bathroom experience, the Agence France-Presse reports.

"It is a red that makes a huge impact, like a Ferrari," Jose Manuel Pinheiro, international brand manager for Renova, the company producing the new product, told AFP. "We are trying to create a niche market for value-added household products in nations with a high purchasing power."

A company statement offered this explanation for the curious color choice: “(Red) is the color of our hearts, of passion, lust, fury, laughter, anger, love, fire.”

But the trendy tissue is probably not the best bet for those who are strapped for cash. When the paper finally hits American shelves, Renova will charge $2.98 per roll.

So would you buy this, for whatever reason like a guest bathroom where it would match the decor, or holidays, or whatever?

EvesMom replied: Oh heck no! That's like wiping your rear with dollar bills! laugh.gif Give me Scott TP and I'm happy!

luvbug00 replied: ditto to above if anything I'd use tissue over red tp!

C&K*s Mommie replied: Same here, but Quilted Northern is the one around here.

I guess the representative said it best with the 'high-purchasing power' comment. Only those that can really afford to have and care for matching TP to their decor (and still be farily unique) would buy it.

But it would be a thought for when the holidays rolls around, and guests come in. Something different for then, but not for everyday use.

luvmykids replied: Oh brother, what will they think of next? BTW-you can get holiday tp at places like Spencers for way cheaper than that.

Crystalina replied: Oh Goodness! I'm the one who buys whatever is cheaper because it's just going to be flushed anyway.

This is a big argument in my house(for real). My DH wants to buy the expensive tp because it's softer, thicker, whatever the reason. I buy the cheapest. I don't care if its thin because I'll just use more of it. I will not pay. It's always a race to see who is going to go to the store and buy the paper. Sometimes (when he remembers) he'll buy a bunch of his paper just so he has it. Since he's gone alot I'll find it and use it because there I am spending more because I bought what I bought and he bought his. Spending 2x as much. rolleyes.gif

I know it's REALLY stupid but it pysically hurts me some times to spend it. I may need therapy. DH LOVES spending money.

Back to the topic at hand~ridiculous. Holiday paper is just silly also.

P.S.
The kids use Kandoo wipes so they don't care yet.

Maddie&EthansMom replied: No way! We use Cottonelle. It's cheap, but great. happy.gif

PrairieMom replied: no way. White matches everything. if i want to make a decor statement, I will do it with something other than butt wipe! cool.gif

luvmykids replied:
I know, but the kids get a kick out of it.

kimberley replied: not a hope in heck! lol

CantWait replied: Darn near rediculous that is. I wouldn't buy it. wacko.gif

My3LilMonkeys replied: I buy a (slightly) more expensive brand of toilet paper b/c I hate the cheap stuff but NO WAY would I buy that!!
