kimberley wrote: way to go ediep for guessing our mystery parent!

kit_kats_mom replied: I wanted to add that I had been thinking about a favorite author lately and Kurt Vonnegut would have to be one of my all time favorites. If it is a question of frequency of reading an authors writings, then Dr. William and Martha Sears would win that contest hands down. LOL
GavinsMommy replied: HEYYY...that thread wasn't stupid!
What's your dream job?
Where would you most like to live in the world?
If you could make anything happen in your life right now, what would it be?
ediep replied: did you got o college? Where? What was your major? How did you meet DH? How old were you on your first real date?
kit_kats_mom replied: I've always enjoyed writing. I can't seem to come up with the time to concentrate lately though.
I have family that have travelled the world. They spent 1 year in New Zealand and from the pictures they took and their descriptions of the people and the society, I think I'd like to live there.
Right this moment? I'd give my right arm for 6 hours without children. Just a break. I feel like I've been toting a baby for the last 2 & 1/2 years. Other than that, I'd love to be able to quit my job. I actually do enjoy spending time with my kids (usually) and my job makes me feel like even though I'm here with Lauren all day, I don't really get to spend much time with her. Does that make sense?
kit_kats_mom replied: I got my Associate in Arts from the local community college. I dropped out of HS & got my GED & started working and college at 17. I then transferred to Florida State and got my degree in Library and Information Studies via their distance learning program.
I met my DH in a dive bar. My best friend and I went there with the intent of shooting pool and drinking beer. We wore jeans/tee shirts/ponytails & no makeup. I'd just broken it off with my fiancee of 7 years and was not really in the market. Him and his friend picked us up. Funny thing is, his friend liked me and DH liked my best friend. So each of us have kissed the others best friend. We ended up just hanging out with the guys for a year or so until DH finally asked me out.
First date? ummmm, 15 maybe?
jdkjd replied: Did you like Spanglish?
What's in a Ketel Caesar?
What's the most outrageous/shocking thing you've ever done?
kit_kats_mom replied: Not really. Kind of cheesy IMO. I love Adam Sandler and I guess I was expecting something different.
Mmmmm...Ketel One Vodka & clamato juice with celery salt rimming the glass. Kind of like a light bloody mary. I usually spice mine up with tobasco & wostershire too.
I'll have to think about that & get back to you. LOL I did so many, I'm not sure what the most shocking would be. I was a pretty crazy teenager.
A&A'smommy replied: What is your most embarressing moment? What was your favorite memory from you childhood? When you got out on you own were you happy or sad? What is your fav moment from college? Do you remember reciting your vows at your wedding? (weird question I know)
kit_kats_mom replied: I don't embarass very easily and so I don't really have a most embarassing moment. Going to my company christmas party with the XL sticker on the front of my new shirt was pretty dumb though. LOL
Driving across country with my mom when I was 13. She finally left her boyfriend (my psudeo step dad who I hated) and we moved off of the boat, packed everything we owned into a 71 VW super beetle & drove from San Francisco to Tallahassee. It was just cool seeing everything in the country, knowing I'd never have to endure my stepdad anymore and getting to know my mom better. We didn't have ac in the car and it was July so there was a lot of hair-flipping in the breeze.
Well, I had two situations. The first time I lived away from my mom, she packed up her stuff and moved out of her own home. I paid her mortgage and she lived with a friend. Goes to show you what a rotten teenager I was eh? Then I moved out of state when I was 18. I was happy until I found the card that my mom had written to me where she poured her heart out about how much she was going to miss me & some tips on life. I still can't read that card without crying. It was mostly my mom and I growing up (with the random live in boyfriends & husbands scattered in just to shake things up a bit) so we were really close. She was also pretty lenient so it's not like moving out was a big step for me.
College lasted about 10 years for me. Writing the last word on my last paper and turning it in had to be my favorite part. I was 8 mos pregnant with Katherine and SO ready to graduate. It was a long and winding road. I didn't actually walk though. I was in the distance learning program so I didn't know any of my classmates. Just tought it would be wierd.
I remember being very hot under my veil...and I remember trying to figure out what I was going to do about the snot that was about to run down my face before the kiss (I was sobbing the whole time)...but no, I do not remember my vows at all. LOL I was in a daze & I detest public speaking.
kit_kats_mom replied: Ok, I don't know if this would count as the most shocking or just the most stupid. I ran away from home when I was 16. My friend and I went on a drug binge and lived off of coffee/cheap beer and cigarettes for a week. I blew up my car (the previously mentioned 1971 VW superbeetle) and left it on the side of the highway. We then hitchiked home with a bunch of bikers. It's really a wonder I lived through some of the crap I pulled.
I also went totally loco on a girl once in a club. Not proud of it but it did happen. She had been harassing me for months because her boyfriend spent the night at my house. Ok, yes your boyfriend is HOT and yes I probably would have fooled around with him if a) my boyfriend wasn't at my house too and b.) if your boyfriend hadn't been passed out cold on my couch because he almost killed the entire keg himself. Whatever, point is, nothing happened. Anyway, she harassed me and harassed me every weekend at this club and I kept my temper under control until one night the hussy threw a drink at me and messed up my hair. WAR I tell you! I seriously didn't think I could cause so much damage. I ended up breaking two ribs and her nose. I'm so lucky she didn't press charges. Never been in another fight before or after. I'm sure I looked totally classy doing that.
My2Beauties replied: Cary you crack me up with your stories!
What would you do with a million dollars (I know I always ask this question)!
What is your favorite thing about being married?
What do you miss about being single?
kit_kats_mom replied: With a million dollars? First I'd pay off all of the debt that DH and i accumulated from our college years. I honestly have everything I need and most of the things I want. I would love to be able to travel to Europe and I'd probably spend some $ hiring a personal shopper to help me define my style a bit more. The ladies from What Not To Wear BBC come to mind. LOL Then I'd make some investments and save for retirement and the girls college. Maybe have my step dad design a house for us and have it built. Wow! I came up with a lot more things than I thought I would
I love having someone to laugh with.
I really don't miss being single at all. Of course that's because I didn't get married until I was 29 & 3/4's so I guess I got singleness out of my system. The things I most enjoyed about it were: sleeping in whenever I wanted, getting dressed up to go out, the anticipation of a first date with someone & getting to know so many different people.
jdkjd replied: What do you miss most about pre-kids (not sleep)?
If you could go on a trip without DH and kids, where would it be?
What do you want to be when you are 50 (when the kids are gone)?
Jamison'smama replied: What is the last thing you really splurged on for yourself? For someone else?
Are your scrapbooks up to date?
Are your closets organized or do they need a spring cleaning?
Are you a coupon cutter?
What parts of your personality do you see coming out in your kids?
kit_kats_mom replied: Spontenaity. We try to keep it up but it's pretty hard to just pack up and go somewhere when you've got two kids. Back in the day we'd just leave for New Orleans or something with no reservations or anything. We just figured we'd find a room or sleep in the car. Not so easy with two little ones.
Mmmm. If I was by myslef, probably a nice spa with unlimited massages and a chef. I'm all about relaxing when I'm forced to do it. With a girlfriend, probably a big city to shop, play pool, drink and party like a diva.
Um, alive. LOL Seriously, dream job = traveling grandma. If that's not an option then I would like to still be at home or running my own coffee shop/bistro or B&B with family or a good friend as a business partner. I seriously hate corporate BS and I actually enjoy making our home a comfy place for DH. If I had to go back to a real job that isn't my own business...perhaps a childrens librarian or helping people with thier finances. It really makes me feel good to know that I had an impact on someone and that I'm able to help them learn how to solve their problems. Finally, this is going to sound pretty silly...I really enjoyed waitressing and bartending. I got to meet a ton of interesting people and it was satisfying work. I doubt my body would hold up to it now though, much less 20 years from now. Ok...that's a lot of answers.
kit_kats_mom replied: You guys have some great questions! Making me think
For myself? Gosh, I really dont' go nuts when it comes to myself. I've recently aquired an addiction to the long wearing lipsticks and in a vain attempt to find a color that I really like, I bought about 11 of them. that came to about $88 over a 2 week period. I do splurge on good stationary.
For someone else? I bought a nice bouquet yesterday to have delivered to a friend who just moved to Georgia with her family. Flowers are not cheap! I'll leave it at that.
I don't scrapbook. I'd love to but I just don't have the time. My monthly webpage is totally up to date though.
My closets are immaculate! I have a closet "thing". there is one linen closet, in our room, that has one shelf that is a mess. It actually haunts me. I need to get in there and figure out what to do with that junk!
I really try to cut coupons but I almost always forget them at home or in the car. I'm hopeless.
Lauren apparently inhereted my love of sleep. That child can sleep anywhere, any time & she is very fond of the "after meal cat nap" as am I. Katherine seems to be a bit too "neat" for her age. She is also pretty quick to get over minor irritations. she will whine for a bit then it's on with the day. She really rolls with the punches pretty well for a 2 year old. She also has my chatterbox tendencies and my "center of attention" issue.
kit_kats_mom replied: I've got to print these out and put them in our memory box. I'm sure I'll get quite a giggle when I look back at these answers in a few years.
kimberley replied: you are too funny, Cary!!
What is your favorite Dido song?
What is the last concert you went to?
Can you give us a sample of something you have written?
Can you post some pics
kit_kats_mom replied: I really like "Thank you" but I just think she has a lovely, calming & etheral voice
Tina Turner in Nashville a couple of years ago. That lady is amazing
Besides my journal entries which are on my web page (http://www.carywright.com/pics) I don't really have anything on my computer.
I posted some in the "pictures of yourselves" post yesterday. There aren't too many pics of me since I tend to wield the camera 'round these parts Plus, I've been feeling a bit fat lately and therefore avoiding the camera. DH has a way of catching me in all of my double-chinned glory
kimberley replied: ok, so i challenge you to write something within a month . maybe we should do a writing assignment for mother's day. could be a poem, a short essay, anything really.
btw, i have read some of your journal and you are hilarious!
kit_kats_mom replied: Thanks! If I get enough time with two free hands, I'm game. That's my only problem right now. I tend to not write much when I have to do it with one hand. I figure it's a hobby that I will revisit when the girls are a bit older. One of my idols is Catherine Newman, the mother of two who has a weekly journal. It can be viewed at http://parentcenter.babycenter.com/general...oler/72519.html
Her style just kills me and I am often laughing so hard I cry when I read it. I aspire to be like her in her writing but I'm not nearly as clever as she is.
If you ever need a good laugh, I highly reccomend bookmarking the above site and just reading her stuff. Basically it starts with her son, Ben and goes right up to after Birdy is born. The struggles they have as a family, and the fun. She adds a new entry every week.
I have already told DH that her new book would make a wonderful mothers day present.
My2Beauties replied: Cary I read some of her journal entries and this woman is freaking hilarious!!! I was rolling at her! Thanks for that site!
