| Name: | Arik | | Birthdate: | August 8, 2002 | | Parents: | Alice | Favorite Toy/Activity: Arik loves balloons, anytime he sees one he has to have one and gets so excited. He also knows exactly which books of his has a balloon in it and carries it around.
Latest Achievement: Arik's latest achievement would have to be knowing what an "ouchy" is. He had a scrape on his knee and gave it simpathy for 2 weeks. Now anytime he gets a scrape, it is a big deal. I have scars healing on my knee from surgery in Jan, and he has to give them lots of kisses, it is really cute.
Other Information: Arik is also obsessed with dogs. He can see one at our neighbors and he always has to go outside and wave at it.
Please post all questions and comments here.

alice&arik replied: WOOHOO!! My baby is in the spotlight!! I was so excited to see he was in the spotlight, and he was sitting next to me, he kept smiling and pointing at himself.
paradisemommy replied: Arik is such a cutie!! I love that picture of him!
What was his birth like? What do you remember most about him? (most memorable moment) Does he have any comfort items? Does he like the water? Favorite movie? Favorite song? Does he like to dance?
alice&arik replied: Our boys birthdays are pretty close together.
His birth was an awful process. I was induced, which was why it was awful. It was a total of 30 hours. After my water broke on it's own, it went really fast and he came in 40 minutes. I don't know why they didn't break it in the first place. My sister Mollie was down the hall in the waiting room and she could hear me screaming...lol. I only had 2 nurses and the doc in the room, since his dad died when I was 3 months preg. And it was quite a shock that he was a girl. I was kind of out of it the whole day since I had 3 different meds to induce me plus they gave me a sleeping pill the night before, so I kept falling asleep between contractions and pushes. But after he came out I was a little better, and I just wanted to hold him.
There are so many moments that I remember it is hard to pick a fav. But when he was a little baby I remember most how cute and beautiful he was, and when he first started giggling, it was so adorable.
He doesn't have any comfort items. He will carry a different blanket around once in a while. But when he is sitting next to me he has to hold my thumbs, even when we watch TV, so i think that is his comfort thing.
He loves the water. He just learned how to turn on the garden hose and likes to spray everything. And anytime he gets to play in the sink, when he is suposed to be washing his hands he has fun. He also has a pool, which he loves, he will lay on his tummy and kick his legs sometimes flap his arms too like eh is swimming, so i think he will be a swimmer.
His favorite movie is The Wubulous World of Dr. Seus, The Cat in the Hat. They are like puppets kinda like sesame street. So they look real. I got it out of one of those $5.95 DVD bins at Wal-Mart and it is the best investment.
His favorite song...he has a few, he really likes that comercial about 6 flags where that old guy gets off the bus and starts dancing. But he really likes that Usher song "yeah". He likes the beat. But I try not to let him listen to that too much on the radio.
Yes he loves to dance. Any song he hears he has to dance. He also just figured out how to tap his legs to the beats. And if he is standing he will start bopping around and then jumping cuz he gets too excited. He will also grab our hands and make us dance along too, like swing our hands with him.
amynicole21 replied: What were some of Arik's first words? How did you decide on his name? If he was a girl (like you thought he would be!) what would his name have been? Is he afraid of anything?
alice&arik replied: Arik's first words were Da Da Da... the usual ones. I think the first real one was doggy. But I am not so sure. But I think I have it written somewhere.
His dad's name was Eric. And I thought I would name him after his dad because he was very excited about the pregnancy and I wanted him to have something special from him. I wanted to do something different at the same time so I changed the spelling. His middle name is Harley after my father(first name).
When I thought I was having a girl, she was going to be Arika, I wasn't sure of a middle name but thought Luv would be cute.
He gets scared of motorcycles when he hears them go by the house, if they are really loud. I don't know why. I don't think he is really scared of anything else..he used to be scared of cold water, he would scream bloody murder. But that is over now.
paradisemommy replied: Does he have a favorite color? Does he like sports? How would you describe his personality? Is he more like you or his daddy?
alice&arik replied: Boy your just full of questions
I don't know if he has a fav. color. I havn't noticed any particular color he likes, Blue maybe? or red, balloons those colors catch his eye the most.
Umm...I don't really know...lol...maybe, he is pretty good at throwing a ball. But doesn't have much interest in anything else.
I would describe his personality as silly, curious, and mischievous(sp?). He likes to do stuff on his own and isn't scared to explore things on his own. But he also has a sweet side and likes to pick flowers and smell them.
I think he is probably more like his dad. His grandma said his dad was a little monster, but could make your heart melt in a second. Arik will hit the dog and sqeeze it's face til it whines then will give her hugs and kisses. And with me he won't listen to what i say and if he knows i am mad he will come and give me hugs and kisses and try to make it all better. But I don't really remember what I was like, although he is pretty smart for what he knows, and I will take the credit for that!! LOL
kimberley replied: Arik is so cute!
does he have any girl friends? what is his favorite thing to do at the park? does he have a favorite book? what is your favorite thing to do with him? what amazes you the most about him?
alice&arik replied: LOL!! He had a few "girl" friends back home at his old daycare. But at his new play group there is one girl that always hangs out with. One time when we were leaving the park they gave each other hugs and kisses and when we were walking away her mom yelled "she said I love you Arik!" It was really sweet. she is older than him though.
His favorite thing to do is swing. But he also really likes to feed the geese, and slide.
His favorite book is a Dumbo book, at the circus, the reason it is his favorite is because it has balloons at the end. But another one is Brown Bear Brown Bear What Do You See? He likes all the animals in there.
Our favorite thing to do together is cuddle. Especially when he falls asleep because it reminds me of how important it is to be a mom, and how safe he feels with me. But I really like reading to him, when he sits still, because I feel like he is really interested. I also really like when we walk in a store, or at the park and he is holding my hand, just reminds me he is still my little baby.
What amazes me is how fast he learns everything. He mimics everything I do. I am also amazed at how fast he has grown since I brought him home, I take out the outfit I brought him home in and hold it up to him just to see the difference. He was so tiny as a baby!!
paradisemommy replied: well you were so excited to finally be in the spotlight..i figured i had to jump start the questions since not many people are on!!
MommyToAshley replied: He's sooo cute!
Has he been on vacation yet? If so did he like it? What does he do that he is not supposed to do? What is the last thing he did that made you laugh? Does he like to color with crayons? What is his room like?
alice&arik replied: I was just joking. I like to answer the questions! Nobody ever asks me about Arik.
alice&arik replied: No we havn't been on vacation yet. Actually we came down to Arkansas back in November, I guess that was a vacation. He liked it. But he didn't enjoy the car-ride on the way down. He had to get used to being at my sister's house for 2 weeks then leave again.
He does lots of stuff that he isn't supposed to do. He learned how to open the fridge, turn on the garden hose and spray it. He also takes all of the shoes out of the closet and tries them on. He likes to open and shut the doors over and over again, sometimes slamming it...it drives me nuts. I have to yell at him to stop because it is so "fun".
Arik makes me laugh all the time. The last thing he did that was silly last night he came out of the closet with my boyfriend's sandals on, it was so cute and he looked so proud. He had that smirk on his face like, look at me I'm cool now.
He likes to color and eat them. He just scribbles then gets bored after a few minutes, but if i have a pen, oh boy he has to have it because it is so much better.
Well we just moved down here, then we got this house to rent, so his room isn't complete. He has a blue toddler race car bed with a Scooby-Doo bed set. He has a corner with a toy box and stuff animals, and then along the wall is all his books stacked up. I want to get a bookshelf for him and put his aquarium on it. He doesn't have a dresser in his room. His closet is a walk in, and there are lots of rods? to hang everything up, and there is one that is just his height, but yesterday he pulled everything off the hangers onto the floor, so we put it all up onto the next one. There isn't anything else special about his room yet, I wish I could get everything I want in there, but it is going to have to wait.
CantWait replied: What do you think he'll be when he grows up? How would you describe his personality? Does he have a favourite food or treat, and what is it? Least favourite?
alice&arik replied: When he grows up I think he will have something to do with electricity. For the past year or more he has been so obsessed with cords, outlets, phones, remotes...and he is really smart about everything. I know what I just said doesn't sound safe, but I don't let him put stuff in the outlets, although he tries very hard. He even took out the blender from the cupboard and brought it in the living room and plugged it in and turned it on, he got pretty scared. I have to chase him around all the time to tell him "no" about the outlets. He is leaving them alone more now. When we moved in to this house, he took all the outlet covers out of the box and put them in the outlets, and I didn't even notice he had started til he was almost done in the living room, kinda scary , but he was proud about what he had done. There are about 7 outlets in the living room he put covers on, and he found them all behind boxes, even where I didn't know were outlets.
I would describe his personality as curious, sarcastic, and mischievous. He can be quite the monster but silly at the same time. And lately his facial expressions when he is excited is so sarcastic. Like WOW...but faking it.
His favorite food is still Goldfish Crackers. His other favorite is grapes, he knows what drawer in the fridge they are in and he helps himself. He also loves salad, he has to have some whenever I have some, so we started giving him his own little salad at dinner with ours. His least favorite would be chicken alfreado(sp) he won't touch it. I bought it with some other of that chef bo ar de? cuz he really likes ravioli, but that was a waste. I can't think of anything else he doesn't like at the moment.
Mom2Boyz replied: Does he have a favorite toy? Does he have a pet? What time does he go to bed? Wake up?
alice&arik replied: His favorite toy...he has some jumbo blocks he really gets excited about when he stacks them up high. He has a ABC puzzle thing and a 1-9 puzzle that he likes to do. He can get all of them in the right spots, but sometimes he doesn't want to flip them the right way and tries jamming them in there.
He just got a puppy not too long ago. It is a german shepard & collie. He has always loved dogs. She likes to grab his shirt when he runs and then he screams like a girl!! But now he has learned that he can tackle her and lay on her to fight back. She doesn't do anything either just lets him do whatever he wants.
He usually goes to bed around 9'oclock, if he took a late nap then bedtime is later. If he is tired then i will put him to bed earlier. It just depends on his mood. I like to sleep in so it doesn't bother me to have him up later. But lately he has been getting up early and running in our room and falling asleep in our bed. A few days ago he got up at 4am. But he went back to sleep. But on average I would say around 8 or 9 is wake-up time.
