your car?
cameragirl21 wrote: personally, i have always preferred stick and while i know how to drive automatic, i absolutely hate it and will not even consider buying a car unless it's stick...my most recent car (that i currently drive) had to be brought in for me from another dealership so i could have the color i want, without leather seats and with stick. i suspect i'm quite in the minority on this one though...anyone else out ther prefer stick?
Calimama replied: It really doesn't matter to me one way or another. If I were to walk in a dealership today and buy a car, I'd buy an automatic. So that's what I voted for.
cameragirl21 replied: who else picked stick?! wow, i seriously thought i'd be the only one, i get chided by both women AND men for insisting on driving stick.
grapfruit replied: I don't mind either way. I just don't like driving my bf's truck b/c it's a stick and a truck. But in a car a stick is fine.
amynicole21 replied: I love a manual transmission, but since we had kids we switched to the automatic. A lot easier to drive and tend to the kids at the same time
Crystalina replied: I prefer a stick but with when we bought our new truck we got an 4WD automatic because it seems like I spend alot of time handing over drinks, playing referee ... too much handling of the kids for a stick. My phone used to be an issue but I don't want to be one of those people trying to steer and hold a phone so I have a headset for that. It just seems (although it's not right) that with the kids in the car I need my hands and the automatic would be easier. I still have my car which is a stick.
~Roo'sMama~ replied: I love driving a stick. My last car (a VW Jetta - so much fun to drive!) was a stick and I miss it. Now I'm driving a 16 year old mini-van that my parents gave us when my Jetta died. There probably isn't much possibility of me ever having another stick since it'll probably be mini-vans for us from here on out. Some day if we ever have enough money I'd like a little car that's a manual transmission just for fun.
MoonMama replied: Automatic
MyBrownEyedBoy replied: I can drive stick and I kind of like Aaron's mustang in the summer, but in winter in Idaho, I prefer my automatic. I just feel safer.
Boo&BugsMom replied: Stick is way more work than I an equipped to handle! Auto all the way for me!
TheOaf66 replied: oh so many jokes I could say but not the right place for those
Boo&BugsMom replied:
ITA: I know you prefer stick honey. So what does that say about you?
Jamison'smama replied:
I loved my standards. That's all I had before kids. My dad taught me to drive on a standard so that I could drive either.
redplaydoh replied: I can drive either... but now I prefer automatic because I'm too busy concentrating on the roads here to think about doing anything else. Switzerland is crazy when it comes to speed limit signs... it can be on the left side of the road, the right side, or stuck in the middle median. Of course they don't tell you the speed most of the time either, just when that particular zone has ended and you have to think what the speed is now.... this is just ONE thing I have to remember. No right on red and absolutely no passing on the right!!!
Boo&BugsMom replied: That is exactly why I have to have automatic. With a stick, it's just one more thing I have to deal with, especially in WI in the winter time...yuck! I can't multi-task like that.
jcc64 replied: I prefer standard because I live on a mountain in upstate NY, and I feel like it gives me more control over the car when I'm going downhill in snowy/icy weather. However, it's getting harder and harder to find manual transmissions these days. We just leased a new Honda Pilot, and they don't even make 5 spds anymore! It feels weird driving an automatic, but I'm sure I'll appreciate it when I'm driving in NYC.
Kaitlin'smom replied: Auto, not to good with a stick
MommyToAshley replied: You mean they still make cars with manual transmissions?
3xsthefun replied: I prefer a manual transmission.
holley79 replied: My first three vehicles were standards. I actually like driving a standard but when you are dealing with traffic it is a PITA. They also get better gas mileage. IMO
moped replied: Automatic.....I can drive both but like automatic....with kids and winters in Canda etc.......
sparkys2boys replied: automatic here
mom21kid2dogs replied: I've never owned anything but a stick~never will, either. When we go car shopping they look at us like we have 3 heads. Stick appeals to my ADD side~something to do while mindlessly driving!
Twelve Volt Man replied: OK...I should have my "man card" revoked for this, I know, but I never really mastered the art of driving a vehicle with manual transmission. Growing up, my family always had automatic transmission vehicles, so I never had the need to drive anything different. I don't feel like I've missed out on much, though.
luvmykids replied: I like the way a stick drives but hate it with all the stop and go traffic in the course of my driving. My car is the best of both worlds though, can be driven either way although if you drive it as a standard there isn't any clutch which I think makes it extra fun
J-rod replied: in my fast cars..i prefer stick.... but even for drag racing i sometimes prefer racing the auto with some modifications. even though it robs a little more hp.
in a daily driven car i prefer auto.
luvmykids has it made...best of both worlds.
stella6979 replied: I've tried many times to drive a stick, but I just can't get the hang of it. I think I'll stick with my automatic.
MomToJade&Jordan replied: I prefer a stick, but like the automatic with the kids in the car.
