what-cha doin for earth day?

PrairieMom wrote: its tomorrow folks. what-cha gonna do?
I am hoping to lay the brick foundation for my backyard rain barrels, and possibly so some light landscaping work in my front yard. I have a spot in front of my front window that gets really hot in the summer that I have a few small bushes in, but they aren't doing well, so I thought I would dig them out, take the rocks out, lay mulch instead and plant some heat tolerant full sun plants.

coasterqueen replied: Well, I'd love to do something, but by the time I get home from work, get dinner, baths, homework done it will be almost completely dark......guess I could come up with something to do inside? bigthink.gif Earth Day should be on the weekends so even those who work could participate easier. tongue.gif

momofone replied: I wish i was as ambitious as you unforunately i am not doing much. happy.gif

TheOaf66 replied: stand outside smoking cigs and spraying aerosol cans

I am planning on chopping down a tree and burning it with plastic as well

MommyToAshley replied: It's too early to plant stuff here as there may still be some days with frost, so Ashley wants to do a better job of recycling. We do recycle some, but as Ashley pointed out, we could do better.

Danalana replied: As you know, I am not very green....BUT, I am looking into the gDiapers for Carter biggrin.gif I'm doing better!

PrairieMom replied:
Glen Beck was saying the same thing. How does that make you feel? dry.gif tongue.gif
I will plant something extra in your honor. cool.gif

AlexsPajamaMama replied: I was looking up some recycling crafts we could do...and we are going to make a bird feeder out of a milk carton.
Here's a pic... Milk Carton Bird Feeder

Calimama replied: UM we're going to the zoo. Not really earth day related! tongue.gif

coasterqueen replied:
Oh that is neat!!! That would be a great project. thumb.gif Although for us, if we put out bird feeders, the cats eat the birds. blush.gif But I could let the girls make them anyways. Thanks for the idea. thumb.gif

MommyToAshley replied:
I wonder how long they would hold up in our rainy weather too. But, they still look really cute to make. I wonder if there is earth friendly paint we could use to paint them. Of course, that too would have to be water/rain proof. smile.gif

coasterqueen replied:
laugh.gif That is a good point. The rain here sucks. dry.gif Not only that but with the wind we always seem to have here, I'm not sure it would last too long outside without being blown into the next county. rolleyes.gif Not sure about earth friendly paints, but I bet there are some. thumb.gif

CantWait replied: LOL Troy laugh.gif

I'm going to buy some flower seeds for when the weather gets nicer.....again. Does that count?

Honestly there's not a lot I can do here. And Moscow I swear is the most polluted city in the world.

PrairieMom replied:
its to cold to do much here yet either. We will be going to the park and picking up garbage tho. Actually, I am secretly hoping someone else has the same idea and gets to it before me. blush.gif laugh.gif

Mommy2Isabella replied: We are going to the library , getting a recycling bin < i know why don't i have one yet) SLACK!!! ))

we are also going to paint some rocks for the garden area out back and ... who knows what else!!

Cece00 replied: I'm going to work, like I do every other weekday tongue.gif

Our Lil' Family replied: I am going to buy some bins to start recycling more than just the aluminum and plastic bags that we do now. Our area doesn't offer recycling services yet growl.gif but I can find businesses that take them, I just need to group them together.
Other than that, not much....we planted a tree in February...that should count for something, lol.

CantWait replied: Ohohoh, I passed some of Robbie's very very used clothes to our neighbour. *NO GARBAGE* thumb.gif biggrin.gif tongue.gif

lovemy2 replied: We actually went and bought some plants and just planted them....

but Troy - I like your idea laugh.gif laugh.gif laugh.gif laugh.gif
