weird thing happened today... - phone call
huggybugboy wrote: I got home from school this afternoon and there was a phone call from a dentist. It said "This message is for Katie $*%(@( and we are just confirming your dental appointment for tomorrow the 7th at 8:45." The lady said which dentist she was calling from, yadda yadda yadda.
OK...I have not seen a dentist in like 9 years. I don't have dental insurance. And I NEVER made this appointment. Its not even the dentist I saw 9 years ago?!?!
I am kind of freaked out. How do they have my information? Is someone committing fraud or am I just freaked out over nothing?
I called but the phone just rang and rang since it was after hours. I'm going to have to call in the morning. What if someone stole my identity?? Well, I'll tell you what, theres not much they'll be able to get with MY identity!
CantWait replied: Awww ya definetly call first thing in the morning. That doesn't sound right. Does your dentist have your dental insurance information on file?
Let us know what happens.
huggybugboy replied: I have no idea! This place is even in a different town, 10 miles from here. But for them to have my full name and phone number??
mammag replied: I would think that even if you called after hours you would get a voice mail system if it were a dentist's office. Could it be that someone you know is pulling a prank on you?
I would definitely call again today to see what's up though.
Kirstenmumof3 replied: Wow that is creepy! Definately call today and find out what's going on!
gr33n3y3z replied: maybe someone is paying for this visit for you call I would this is to strange
luvmykids replied: Very weird. I have someone using my address and phone number, I keep getting collections calls/mail for her. When people call they don't believe I'm not her even though she's using a different name. I've had more than one person go off on me telling me "I" can't hide from them. Hope you get it figured out.
PrairieMom replied: did you get any answers? how strange! Maybe they accidentially made the appointment under your name for someone else?
moped replied: Any news to report on this yet?
CantWait replied: ??
huggybugboy replied: well, I called this morning. The lady was really crabby and said I must have made the appointment. Maybe I made it a long time ago because they've been so backed up.
?!?!? uh, no.
Why would I make a dental appointment for a dentist I've never seen, when I dont even have dental insurance?
Anyway, she claims that she doesnt have my SSN or anything on file, so I'm not too worried. I told her I would not be coming in for this appointment. It's just really weird because the area we live in is very small, my last name is uncommon (all of us are related), and I'm the only Katie. weird.
CantWait replied: That is odd. I'm a little shocked by her attitude. As if you wouldn't know if you made the appt or not
