we are taking a class - financial freedom

PrairieMom wrote: Dh and I are taking Dave Ramsey's class on financial peace. It it a 13 week seminar that meets once a week for 2 hours. our first class was last night. It was pretty good. We are really excited about it.

Has anyone taken the class? I really hope it works for us.

A&A'smommy replied: My SIL and BIL took the class I have no idea if it helped them or not!! wink.gif

grandma replied:
That sound's really good, haven't taken it, but would be interested...can never know too much about what to do with our money!

mommy~to~a~bunch replied: I hope it works for you! We need something like that too sleep.gif .

lisar replied: Good luck let me know how it goes.

holley79 replied: Let us know how it works. FIL/ MIL took the class. They didn't talk much about it.

Calimama replied: I've heard good things, but I have never taken it! Let us know how it goes!

grapfruit replied: Is it through your church or what? I know my church does the Crown Financial Ministry classes on their "campus". Sounds pretty similar! thumb.gif Make sure you share your wisdom w/us biggrin.gif

kit_kats_mom replied: My DH is a BIG Dave Ramsey Fan. We haven't taken the classes but we have the book and cd's. We are using alot of his ideas for our NY Resolutions. thumb.gif

PrairieMom replied:
its through the church that my MOPs group is through, but its a different church than what we go to.
It really has us fired up. I just want to get a handle on things and get secure now while we are young so we can party hardy when we are older.
So far, looking at things we are not in "trouble" financially, we just need to know how to make what we have work for us.

Maddie&EthansMom replied: Okay, I think Dave Ramsey is a pretty intelligent man. I had several friends attend his seminar and ALL I heard for months was Dave Ramsey this, Dave Ramsey that. Now I HATE that name. Seriously, it destroyed a friendship between me and a good friend of mine. She got on this kick and started lecturing ME about our finances. You would have to know my husband...he could have written Dave Ramsey's book. He is very smart with money. We don't have a lot of it, but we also have zero debt and no credit cards. Personally, I think she had no right to preach to me (with her $33,000 credit card debt). rolleyes.gif

He does have a radio show that my DH listens to on occasion. And like I said, he is really good. I think he helps a lot of people and gives them hope. And it's not just for people who have debt, which is good. It's for people who want a secure future as well. thumb.gif

I just got burned by his name. Sorry for my tangent. emlaugh.gif

PrairieMom replied:
laugh.gif
no lectures here.

luvmykids replied: I think it's great, lots of people (including me) don't pay attention to their money until they don't have any laugh.gif

Share your wealth (pun intended) of info with us as you go! thumb.gif

MommyToAshley replied: A client of ours had Dave Ramsey as their keynote speaker at their last convention. I happen to know what they paid him for the speech ... there's no doubt HIS financial future is secure. LOL!

Seriously though, sounds like a great opportunity. I can't wait to hear all about it.

PrairieMom replied:
we were laughing about that as we shelled out he $100 for class materials. LOL. In all fairness tho, we did get $100 worth of stuff, not that we needed it, or will use it. rolleyes.gif

msoulz replied: I have listened to him on the radio too and what I have heard made so much sense. I hope you find what you are looking for in his class!! thumb.gif

boyohboyohboy replied: i read his books and we also listen to the radio show..i would go to a class if it was offered in our area..
please share your wealth of info with us..as you go.

PrairieMom replied:
okay, well class #1 was Baby step #1. put $1000 in the bank.
Get on it guys. laugh.gif we also have homework, we had to list all our monthly expenses.

HuskerMom replied: I've never taken the class but I've heard good things about it. I listen to him on the radio sometimes and he really seems to know what he's talking about. I like hearing people call in screaming that they're debt free!

MoonMama replied: I've never taken it either but heard good things as well. thumb.gif

my2girls replied: I haven't been through the class but I have his books , cds and listen to him Monday-Friday on the internet!!
Its great!!
WE'RE DEBT FREE, except the house. That is next.
We paid off $10,000 in 6 months!! That is on a $55,000 income ( my dh works , I'm a stay at home- homeschooling mom of 2).
You can listen to him on the internet at:

http://www.daveramsey.com

Click on LISTEN NOW on the right hand side of the page. You can listen to that day's show or the archives.

The Baby Steps are also listed on the site as well. I highly recommend the book The Total Money Makeover , it includes worksheets in it to help make your monthly budget plus some really great success stories!

My2Beauties replied: I wonder if this is that same guy whose # I wrote down for a book entitled Debt Cures. He was talking about how you can get gov't grants to help pay off debt and what not for free just by filling out paperwork?

PrairieMom replied:
I don't know. This guy's class is Christian based do es that ring any bells? So Far I haven't heard a thing about how to get $ from the government. but we only took one class so far.

my2girls replied: No , that is not the same guy.
The guy you are thinking of is Kevin Trudeau.
