ZandersMama replied: I'm Canadian so it doesnt matter but wow they are close!
luvbug00 replied: Niether. I feel obama is a flip flopper and grossly underqualified. ( might have voted for dems if clinton was in), bidan just rubbs me the wrong way.
Mcain just keeps digging himself a bigger whole, as does sarah even though i really like her alot, my major values lie with this side.
I wish we could scrap the whole thing and start over again.
PrairieMom replied: Thats what its like with EVERY election. Its like picking between dumb and dumber. I wouldn't hold out much hope that it will be better next time either.
jcc64 replied:
How can you not possibly see this quality in McCain, who clearly claimed to be against any sort of regulation on the banking industry (and voted accordingly) until just a few days ago, when Wall St went into a nose dive. Now all of a sudden, he's Mr. Big Government because the political tides have shifted. You can't have it both ways. You're either for government oversight or you're not. Why the Democrats are not making more of this is beyond me, and just points to their gross incompetence at effectively communicating their platform.
lisar replied: I am voting McCain. nugh said
PrairieMom replied: I really gotta say that I am surprised at the split. I would have thought it would have been a little more even on these boards. Don't read into it... I'm just saying... not a good thing or a bad thing... just an observation...
Crystalina replied: See, I'm the opposite. I was totally expecting it to turn out the way it has on here.
Calimama replied: Me too. I'm not surprised one bit!
luvmykids replied: Just to further suprise you, I don't know anyone IRL who is voting for one of the candidates.
PrairieMom replied: like they aren't voting?
cameragirl21 replied: i think she means that none of her IRL friends are voting for Obama.
PrairieMom replied: Ooohhhhhh... I get it.
amynicole21 replied: DH has claimed that if the election doesn't come out the way we want it to, we are leaving the country. I'm inclined to agree.
PrairieMom replied: where will you go?
Crystalina replied: I hear Canada is nice. Eh?
If I were to leave the country that is about as far as I would go that's for sure. Or maybe Mexico. I would want to get back into the country quick and without hassle if I had to.
PrairieMom replied: now THATS good.
amynicole21 replied: Canada probably, but we've got family in Jamaica mon! lol! We've seriously discussed moving to Europe, though can't quite commit to a country.
PrairieMom replied: hummm. Canada, Jamaica...Canada, Jamaica... yyyeahhhhh, real hard decision there.
Calimama replied: I want to move out of country too! DH loves it here though.
luvbug00 replied:
lars says this too. he wants to return to germany.
LOL Oh the repuplicans i side more with. I don't have the time right now to go into it but i think the 'bama has alot more flopping on his end. but that is just my opinion and i realize what i see may not be the same as what others see. What bothers me most about him is his lack of qualifications. I want somone who has served out country politically or militarily or both for longer then 6 years which is how long Obama has really been in american politics. Mc Cain has been in service since 1958 and in politics since 1982. Give me an opponent with those cridentials and maybe it will sway my vote. That is just what i feel more comfortable with.
jcc64 replied: Dick Cheney has been in Washington for his entire life. The Bush family's political experience is unquestionable. Look where that's gotten us. Just saying.....experience isn't all it's cracked up to be.
jcc64 replied: Forgot to add, about the poll results, I'm shocked that there are 14 people on this board that admitted to backing Obama. This board is by far more conservative than the rest of the country, and certainly more conservative than any of the circles in which I travel.
Crystalina replied: A big fat DITTO to that. I'm surprised I've lasted this long here. Not that the people aren't lovely because we know everyone here is. I guess since it's on here I just don't let things bother me much. IRL when I run into people that are very against what I believe it doesn't bother me then either because that's what makes the world go 'round. What does butter my biscuit is when they try to convince me that my way of thinking is wrong and theirs is right (MIL & FIL !!!!! ). I bite my tongue with them out of "respect" and once I start with them I'll surely not stop and that's something I just don't want to get into with them. I don't mind people liking who they like and having the beliefs they do but don't tell me your way is better. If you want to discuss and debate to understand each other better that is fine but I won't be swayed so it's best not to make it personal.
HuskerMom replied: That sounds just like my grandma. We are polar opposites with politics and according to her I'm wrong. We just can't talk politics anymore because neither of us are going to change the way we feel and we don't want it to get ugly.
cameragirl21 replied: your grandma is very liberal and you are very conservative? That's an unusual scenario, to say the least. btw, your daughter looks like a precious moments figurine come to life.
HuskerMom replied: Thanks, I love that picture of her. She looks like she's thinking what the heck is that!
I'm just curious how is it unusual that she's very liberal and I'm very conservative?
cameragirl21 replied: because people usually start out liberal when they're young and become conservative as they get older. there are many middle aged to senior citizen repubs who were democrats when they were younger. there is a saying that says, "if you're a conservative under the age of 30 you have no heart; if you're a liberal over the age of 30 you have no brain." According to this I'll probably never have a brain but the point is that it's more common for people to go from left to right with each passing year.
HuskerMom replied: I guess we're just the opposite. She was conservative when she was younger and now is liberal, and I've always been conservative, although I don't see that changing. I guess there's an exception to everything right?
