im sure we all have stories like this.... but the injured soldier is a friend of my bro. they graduated HS together....i graduated with his bro JJ.
i have several close close friends over in iraq right now and i think about them alot!
Hillbilly Housewife replied: I support the soldiers, just not the war.
I grew up on military bases. Several friends of the family have gone, some have not come back. A while ago, 5 soldiers from Petawawa died... I knew 4 of them, they were friends of my fathers, friends I'd had a beer with when I was at my dad's, friends who'd known me since he moved back to Petawawa about 10 years ago.
While any loss is hard, I personally think military losses may be harder for some people to deal with just because it was the deceased's choice to join the military knowing there was a possibility of death due to assignment.
I have a few friends in Iraq right now as well, including my sister in law and my step-sister's boyfriend (father of one of her children)
This war hits home in more ways than one.
lisar replied: I have alot of friends over there. Brian..the main one is over there. I love Brian to death, we dated a long time ago and figured we were such good friends that dating wouldnt work, but I love that boy. He is in the Army. I cant remember the correct name of his Rank. Matt is over there he is my Grand-fathers wifes son. I have known him all my life. His kids miss him. He has been over there for about 18 months. I think about them all the time. I havent heard from Brian in almost 2 months. Which I hate cause I wanna know that he is okay. I have a few other friends over there also. My cousin whom I am very close to. (he has Lexi's name tattoed on his arm) thats how close we are to him. Just joined the Marines. He leaves in January to go off to Boot Camp.
I still wont give me opionion on the war due to debating. Sorry. I dont want to start one.
Crystalina replied: Wow. I know men that are over there but they have all been lucky enough to make it home in one piece. Some are still over there. It must be hard to have it hit so close to home.
Hopefully he can enjoy the rest of his life. It's probably too soon to think about prostetics (sp) isn't it? At least he is thinking towards his future with biochemistry. I hope all works out for him.
I would love to have met Carlos Santana although not under the circumstances he had.
Thanks for posting that J-Rod. It has to be hard to know someone this has happend to. I wouldn't know what to say to them.
J-rod replied: well one thing i think we can all agree on is it doesnt matter if you support the war or not...... you/me/we do support the troops
Crystalina replied: Amen to that.
lisar replied: I agree. I totally support out troops... It takes a brave person to do that.
Hillbilly Housewife replied: Agreed.
luvmykids replied: A resounding YES to that!
